I remember when David Edgar nullified Christiano Ronaldo.

There's something like 13 or 14 threads about Newcastle on only the first page of that forum!, two threads about Chris Hughton, none about their own manager!
-
Knew they'd score as soon as the 6 minutes was announced. Not really bothered though, not worried about West Brom in the slightest.

Don't get your hopes up. There'll still be rumours. Were there many last summer? Can't even remember. :-[ We'd been relegated and everyone knew for a fact we'd only be selling not buying. The transfer rumours will be back in force this summer.
-
Occasionally some of them do publish well written articles, its just very rare.

More bullshit "journalism". Sunderland have wasted £100m so every other side need too, what about Birmingham?, Wigan?, Stoke?, Hull? Not to mention the fact we're a much better side then the Sunderland side that was promoted from the Championship.

Ah but the key to April fools is saying something that isn't true. Try something outragous like Nottingham Forest fans are class

Does that mean Ashley's cost cutting measures were unnecessary and the wage bill didn't need to be reduced then? We would have been in a decent position had we stayed up last season because we'd still be removing the likes of Owen, Viduka, Geremi and Cacapa from the wage bill. Also yes going down under Allardyce would have put us in an even worse financial position then going down last season.

Oh yeah I did it!, I used the dowie and kinnear faces together!

hmm, i suspect that we will again be on telly probably 5th or 6th most, so we'll receive in the region of around 60M, our turnover next season could be in the region of over 100M with the new sponsorship and money received from player sales I’m sure I read our wage bill for this season was £40m. If we’re bringing £100m next season the club will be rolling in cash. We've still got debt, and most likely (and fairly imo) Ashley will probably take out his £25m that he invested when we were relegated. Personally I'd like to clear the debt if we're in a position to do it, then look at building to finish 14th, but budgeting to finish 17th. Also I think some people might be thinking a tad ambitiously re their predictions about sponsorship. E.G. The original Northern Rock Sponsorship deal was £17m for 6 seasons, this one is performance related but I'm sure I read somewhere the top line is £1.5m a year. Also can't see us going to Puma as a massive financial positive, and although I'm all for getting these 'marketing partners' I'm sceptical to the amount of revenue they're really bringing in. Ashley won't be removing money from club revenue in my opinion, it would be PR suicide, he'll just be happy to not have to put anymore money in IMO. The last shirt sponsorship was £25m on a five year contract (effectively £5m per season), but Shepherd recieved it all up front and blew it straight away which means we've been recieving no sponsorship money for years now. The new deal is £2.5m a season for every year we're in the Premiership over the next four years, if we dropped back to the Championship that years sponsorship would drop to only £375k. So the maximum amount we can get is £10m over the four years if we're in the Premiership every year and the minimum is £1.5m if we spent all four years outside of the Premiership.

I don't think any of its going to be done to come out of the screen, not during the actual match anyway as that'd be really naff and only detract from the game. I'm sure the 3D will basically only be used to give depth to everything so it sort of looks like you're looking through a window at the match rather then a TV.

Even if they won every game and we only got 5 points from 7 games they'd still need to make up a 25 goal advantage to put us in the playoffs. Its heart warming to think just how improbable it is
-
You don't get to play at the levels they have without being hungry. You don't have to kiss the badge or run around chasing the ball like a 6 year old every game to be hungry either. Wether they were hungry or not in the past really means nothing to us though does it? Neither of them were hungry to play for us last season and they certainly wouldn't be this season or next season.

You're right about Beye & Viduka being past it for top flight football now of course, but when you said "I wouldn't swap the current team for the previous one. " I assumed you were talking about the players they were 1.5 years ago. Beye would probably have been in the team this year ahead of Simpson. As for your put down of the others, well do you thing Man U will be knocking on our door for our best striker Ameobi to sit on their bench or that Carroll will be getting assists in the Champions League anytime soon? More to the point though, do you think we'd have stayed up last season if Ameobi, Carroll, Routledge, Simpson, and Williamson had been in the place of Owen, Martins, Duff, Beye and Bassong? Lovenkrands was a better player for us in the relegation run in last season then Owen. As to you're question, Routledge over Duff, yes IMO. Of course I'd go for Martins, Bassong and Beye over Carroll, Williamson and Simpson. But I wouldn't want the likes of Owen or Viduka near the squad.
-
They're the only two players missing from 08-09 that would (well possibly Beye), meanwhile Routledge is an improvement on last year IMO.
-
Its not much worse IMO, maybe not worse at all given the difference in teamwork and attitude now. Player for player IMO its slightly worse in some ways (attack) and slightly better in others (midfield). Our squads smaller but a lot of the body's we've removed from the squad have been wastes of space that do nothing but take wages for no return. I'd say we're only a couple of players (quality striker and central midfielder) from being quite a bit better then the 08-09 side, especially given the fact the team now has spirit. Then its just a case of getting a few squad players to pad things out. IMO £15m plus whatever we get from players sales could possibly be enough for that.

Don't miss him in the slightest, watching the fucker only gets on my nerves, was really glad when he fucked off and hope he stays gone.

You can't expect any defence not to concede chances over the course of a season even against poor sides, especially when a lot of those sides are effectively playing in FA cup mode. Fact is though we're on track to have the best defensive record in the last 4 Championship seasons.

Aye, just heard that myself. Not every pundit is completely stupid. Aye, was loving that watching it over, it's the first time I've ever seen him get the credit he deserves. http://www.wbaunofficial.com/ They're not having it like. They're living in their own little world, they recon Marek Cech is better

Yet half of our match thread against them was about them and that thread and we createdthis thread about it aswell. Most of the stuff in the match thread was either about the match or taking the piss out of the Newcastle related rants from their fans. This thread is also about something that's been said about Newcastle. I don't see any threads here like "six reasons we hate Notts Forest" because quite frankly outside of the significance of the match itself they're not worth thinking about.

They've got some right looneys as fans like Amazed they can call anyone else deluded with a straight face.

Depends on the result and if Gutierrez scores I suppose. Meh, I would be asking for my money back regardless, I would of had my fun with it, and I doubt people will wear it to every home game so I would be trying to recover my loss, though I am a tight bastard when it comes to money. If its a great night and Gutierrez scores to basically confirm promotion I think some will keep it as a reminder, but yeah I'm sure some stingy bastards will still try to take it back -

that is another question. Will exactly 52,013 turn up? -
Its 96% apparently, so in effect they pay £6m a year to play in the stadium. Definitely a good deal though considering what it cost to construct and the revenue it brings in.
