Because for the past year at this club, the worst case scenario has steadfastly never failed to come true. Did we go into administration the day after losing to Chelsea?
-
Why do people take this shit seriously? These are the same idiots who claimed we'd go into administration if we lost against Chelsea, did that happen? The only news this lot of horrible cunts ever get right is news they create themselves, I hope everyone involved with them dies a slow and painful death.

Does this fucker try to fuck everything up? He doesn't speak when he should, and then at exactly the time he should just shut the fuck up he's giving one liners to the paper, tosser.

Brilliant article that like!

Owen, Coloccini, Cacapa, Barton, Martins, Duff, Smith, Jonas, Geremi & Viduka. Think their combined wages come to well over £600k per week. Barton, Duff and Smith are likely to stay imo. I bloody hope not. They're earning £185k per week between them and they've been garbage for us. Lunatic, waste of skin & past it. I'll let you decide which description fits which player. Barton's apparently squred things out with Shearer and apologized his behaviour. Duff has said he wants to stay. Who'd want Smith? Stuck with them. Barton can apologise all he wants and Duff can say he wants to stay but in the end they're on a combined £6.7m per year. About 20% of the total wage bill we should be aiming to have next season, which would be truley astounding for two wasters like them. I'm sure someone will take Smith for a million or so as well (also on £3.2 million a year), Everton probably.

That's clearly a comment No comment about conjecture surrounding his career.

That could easily be part of it yeah.

You can't not include the money for Given based on how much we may more may not have gotten up front I very much doubt we've paid the money for Gutierrez yet and we may have only paid part of the transfers for any of the other players we've signed. The fact is the money is guarenteed, wether its in or out. So that's £33 milliion brought in and £24.9 million spent.

Do you recon someone stole is like? Of course it still exists. But it isn't really to spend. We spent just as much as we brought in this season, which is the way things had to operate. I hope no-one is expecting the money we bring in from player sales next season will be going back out again, it simply wont be the case. We didn't spend as much as we brought in last season and why shouldn't the money from players sold in the following close season be available for transfers? If I was Shearer I'd be demanding it. They're looking to save the money lost from not being in the Premiership by cutting the wage bill, so they shouldn't need to make a profit on transfers. We're already in debt, getting relegated puts us in more debt. If we make £30m from transfers, we'll get £10m-£15m to spend, which is understandable. Even if we save £30m a year on wages, we're still £25m a year down from TV revenue etc. Parachute payment of £11m means that's probably £14m down. That has to come from somewhere. Also add to the fact that our operating income will be significantly less (merchandising/tickets/match day income/sponsorships). Going down means we make less money but only if we then spend the same money would we be in more debt. We made £41 million from prize money and media last season according to the accounts by the way. Parachute payments were £11.5 million for ther last two seasons, I had heard that was going up again for the start of next season but that's uncomfirmed. Even if they don't chop £35 million off the wage bill and we'll have balanced the books.

Enrique - £4 million (good player and we won't neccesarily need to sell him unless he asks to leave) Coloccini - £6.5 million (will still have a big reputation on the continent but he'll want to leave and we need to sell so) Bassong - £6 million (No need to sell him, so why should we accept a small fee?) Beye - Going nowhere so nowt Gutierrez - £6 million (Again big rep and still a regular argie international, a player who was getting £10 million offers last year) Barton - £2 million (world class idiot but people will keep falling for his bullshit) Martins - £7 million (big reputation, current international we'd have gotten £10 million easily without relegation) Smith - £2 million (shit as it gets but some managers still have a blind spot)

I wouldn't have thought so, until I actually looked through the squad and tried putting a wage to each player. I tried to go slightly overboard on each players wage and still ended up nearly £10 million short of our total wage bill. I mean I'm sure some of that will be for none playing staff, however that won't cover much of the difference.
-
We got Taylor as part of the N'Zogbia transfer plus £6 million. About £30m I'd say, that's not including Beye because he won't be going anywhere.
-
I think that is the classic mistake to make. We go on thinking that and we will be in that division for years. Shearer has already said we need to start thinking like a championship club straight away. Whats that kids name from West Ham they said they will let out on loan? Get him in. Keep a selection of our best players from the Premiership will stop us from coming back up but loaning a Premiership reserve from West Ham won't? I don't get your point here?
-
westamfan, Chris Brunt isn't a Premiership player until a Premiership club sign him. Also you've got no idea what our transfer budget may be. I'd say that any money brought in from cutting the wage bill (which should be a considerable sum) could realistically be put back in for transfers, certainly if Shearer decides to stay.
-
Like I said I wouldn't be after these players anyway. I just don't think it would be a problem to attract them. As long as we remove the overpaid players at the club we should be able to pay pretty high wages in comparison to other Championship clubs (£30,000+ if absolutely neccesary).
-
he’s not long since signed a £40k a week contract, as he’s one of the few saleable assets he’ll be flogged to cut wages. £40,000 a week defenders in the Championship — no chance. I see no evidence he's on £40,000, he wanted the same money as the likes of N'Zogbia, so its more likely £30,000. Also we would only need to consider selling him if we couldn't sell a lot of the players we really want rid of. As long as we lose the massive majority of the players I listed we could easily afford the odd player on £40,000 per week. Other Championship clubs couldn't but that doesn't mean we couldn't.
-
I don't totally beleive all the paper talk of no relegation clauses, especially when to comes to the likes of Nolan who we signed during a relegation battle..
-
There's about four players there who I would definitely put a question mark over. Those four being Beye, Bassong, Enrique and Lovenkrands. Both Bassong and Enrique are on lowish wages with years left on there contracts and Beye has been making noises about wanting to help us come back up. So I'd say we have a realistic chance of keeping them if we try hard enough. Despite what Lovenkrands agent says I'm not sure he'll have many offers. Then again he's on a free and not on big wages so I suppose someone in the Premiership will likely take him. I don't see Guthrie having much of a problem with giving us a season in the Championship and Steven Taylor has already said he'll stay.
-
Our wage bill will already be cut by £14 million before the start of the new season with contracts ending for Owen, Viduka, Gonzales, Cacapa and Lovenkrands. That alone would have made our wage bill affordable again if we were still in the Premiership. Obviously now we need to cut it by a further £15m-£20m. I don't think we'd have any problem selling Coloccini, Barton, Martins, Smith and Gutierrez and they will all want to leave IMO. That's another £14 million chopped off and I'd say that would leave us just about ok financially. But if we can we should also do our best to get rid of Nolan, Duff, Geremi, Butt and Ameobi to save a further £12.5 million, then we'd have more then halved our wage bill (from £70m down to about £30m). Leaving us with: Harper, Krul, Forster, Soderberg Enrique, Bassong, R. Taylor, S. Taylor, Beye, Kadar, Edgar, Tozer, Lough, Morris Guthrie, Inman, LuaLua Carroll, Xisco, Ranger, Zamblera, Baheng, Donaldson Not surprisingly we'd definitely need some midfielders () and a Striker. Best side (?) Harper Beye S.Taylor Bassong Enrique R. Taylor New Guthrie Lualua Carroll Xisco EDIT: Decided Lovenkrands will likely leave and that I wouldn't even want to keep Ameobi and also that Butt is too shit to keep at £45,000 per week if we can get rid.

Honestly, I don't know why any of those three you've named would join you. Brunt is in a side who'll probably find bouncing back easier than you, seeing as they've got a proven Championship side. Ebanks-Blake gets a shot at the Premiership. And Jason Scotland is playing for a really exciting club atm and is their talisman, it's no more than a sideways step. You'll be able to attract more players than any other team, but the star players of teams you're competing with (unless they hit financial difficulties) will probably be slightly out of reach. The clubs won't want to sell them and beyond money I can't see why players would take a sideways step. Chris Brunt is in a side who might have a good chance of coming back up but will have absolutely no chance of staying there. A side with nowhere near our level of stadium, training facilities or wage structure. Ebanks-Blake fair enough, he'll likely be raring to go in the Premiership after a long hard season trying to get their with Wolves. For Jason Scotland see Chris Brunt.

A few will cost a lot and there are others who probably wouldn't see any sense in joining you. I doubt that like personally.. Then again I'm not sure I'd be looking to build a team of Championship players.
-
I think £70,000 is a bit of an exaggeration like, more like £60,000-65,000. Still he'd have to accept a cut to £35,000 to make it worth keeping him IMO.
