possibly, but i still blame him entirely for last week. Absolutely, his substitutions are the real problem I see with him, the changes he made last week were truly awful. Hopefully he can improve on that, nothing to complain about this week, but that could be a blip.

Kinnear isn't great but he's not horrendous either IMO. He's better then the likes of Roeder, Souness or Allardyce for instance. Like I've said before at least he picks good sides and can get them playing. He also drops players if they're under performing and keeps players in who perform well, more then you can say for quite a few of our past managers.
-
I don't agree, we picked up 15 points in our last 11 games and our next 11 are potentially easier. By potentially easier I mean they're easier according to this seasons form guide (the premiership itself) but nobody can really predict how easy each game will be. Still its a good indicator. So I can't see us only getting only 18 points from our next 21 games.

Lets see them spend hundreds of millions on the best players in the world from the Championship! mackems.gif

Alright, "freak result" was perhaps the wrong terminology in this case. What I mean is that it'll take for us to be on a consistent running streak for me to be convinced we're safe for this season. I agree we're definitely not safe yet, though IMO we're more likely to stay up then go down.

Three assists in eleven games. But most importantly 2 in the last 2.
-
He'd be mad not to accept if we offer him a 3 year contract on his current wage, unless he can lure the likes of Manure ect, which I seriously doubt.
-
Hate to say this, but come on Chelsea!
-
To me its not a freak result, its the kind of result we were always going to pick up on occasions throughout the season because we do have some very good players. Add that to not getting beaten often and we were looking fairly safe IMO. Even though I was, and still am, a little bit worried.

I like Kinnear in many ways, its only his substitutions, which can be absolutely baffling, that stop me from rating him as a decent to good manager. He's certainly done well in picking starting sides in my view. Unlike so many Newcastle managers (Roeder, Souness, Allardyce) in the past he hasn't kept dropping back to the same underperforming players no matter what. If someone's done well they've kept their place and that counts for a lot IMO. He just has to learn from some of his substitution nightmares and if he can do that I'd be very impressed with him.

Down from 4 to 3. Like I said things aren't as bad as a lot of people thought.
-
Where's our next win coming from eh?
-
Hopefully he won't be able to play against us and Dawson will have to play.
-
How bad is Woodgates injury? Or how bad did it look?
-
Its a right bastard that they've rested King by the way, that means he'll play against us. The stats say that the Spuds haven't won a game without King, while they've won 50% of games with him.

We do?! Based on what? Based on the fact we're not losing like a lot of the teams around us. Based on the fact that we're only just below mid table in the Premiership form guide since Kinnear arrived. Based on the fact that we've got plenty of games left to play. On what do you base not having hope? Just "I can't see us beating them"?, because I couldn't see us beating Villa or taking a point off Chelsea, results will crop up that we don't expect, otherwise we'd be betting milionaires. The fact is if the form we're under since Kinnear arrived, disapointing as a lot of the results have been, continues then we'll be safe. I'm worried like anyone else, but what I don't understand is the shear panic that's going around, people thinking we're doomed, that it looks bleak ect. Its a total exageration.

Problem is that I can't see where that win will come from. Sunday, 21 December 2008 Barclays Premier League Newcastle v Tottenham, 15:00 That'll be the same Tottenham that beat our full team 2-1 when they were absolutely terrible, and are now a much much better side and we've got worse? Don't talk crap man, when we played the Spuds in the cup we were near the end of a 5 game period which brought us a total of 5 losses, with no manager. But we're worse now are we?, despite taking 12 points from 10 since Kinnear arrived..
-
I assume he meant what he said (thinks there's no hope for us), just a difference of opinion. IMO the likes of West Brome have no hope, we've got plenty.

Eh? Are you joking? I'd say that's probably the weakest part of the entire team, both in terms of numbers AND quality. Speechless.... two words, central midfield. -
Howay, get some perspective for fuck sake, West Broms situation is bleak, ours is just worrying. Actually the results today were quite good for us. Another crushing loss for Blackburn and West Brom, Man City lose and the Spuds are playing Manure at 17:30. The only result that wasn't good for us was Sunderland, but I could never see West Brom beating them anyway. Nobody's going to pull away from us and plenty of teams around us are in freefall (West Ham, Man City ect). Like I said, worrying but nowhere near bleak.

Remove the word instead and I'd agree. -

Bassong, I like him but Upson's a better player and Bassong has plenty of time on his side to become a top player for us in the future (that's not to say he shouldn't have the chance to play ahead of Colo or Upson if he deserves it of course). At the end of the day I don't think we should be going for backup to Colo or Bassong, its much better to buy someone as good or better and have three very good central defenders and Taylor at the club. -

Very good defender, I'd be impressed if we bought him in given our current situation. He's 29 like and £7.5 million isn't peanuts but I think he'd be worth it. -
That guy's pretty much a pauper compared to Ashley, so if people weren't happy with what he was putting in, then they're in for a big disappointment as he couldn't even afford to match that even if he wanted to. Means nothing, firstly he's obviously not trying to buy the club on his own. Secondly Ashley had/has billions yet how much was spent on players?, nowt.. If there's anything we all should have learned from his time here its that the amount of money the owner has isn't what's really important if he's unwilling to spend it. A millionaire who's willing to invest his money is far better then a billionaire who isn't. Obviously exceptions are to be made when the entirety of his personal fortune would barely fund two years worth of transfers. Obviously, but like I said he's not trying to buy the club himself. Though to be honest even if he spend half his money on players he'd still have spent £20 million more then Ashley If he gets to be termed the "head" of the consortium with 40m in his pocket, I doubt the people he's running with are swimming in money either. I know it's a bit more complicated than that, but this really doesn't seem like a good proposition. Wasn't Quinn termed the head of the Sunderland consortium?, how much money does he have? I'm not exactly excited by the prospect either though to be honest.

I count £6.5 million, but only £3.5 million total since he arrived. I'll be generous to him and actually say that was his £3.5 million which makes it £16.5 million more the pauper would have spent in my little hypothetical.
