  1. And yet she got the boardroom shenanigans bang on this summer. We refused to believe her iirc. Wonder who her source is this time? Hardly, all she did was print any negative story she could think of and one or two ended up vaguely close to the truth. If you throw enough shit some of it will stick as the saying goes. Have a gander at a few of these articles and emails she's been writing since March: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/mar/04/newsstory.newcastleunited http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/may/07/newcastleunited.premierleague http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/jun/22/newcastleunited.premierleague http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/jul/28/newcastleunited.doncaster http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/11/newcastleunited.premierleague1?gusrc=rss&feed=football http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/16/premierleague.newcastleunited http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/19/westhamunited.sunderland http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/25/newcastleunited.boltonwanderers http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,48889.msg1439810.html#msg1439810 http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,48889.msg1439821.html#msg1439821 I think she knew something was up fairly soon. If you disagree then that's fair enough. All taken from the Media thread btw. Reading it over, Taylor and the Daily Mail were all very negative all summer. I haven't read them all and to be honest I can't be bothered, though I noticed in the first article she mentions that "Meanwhile the combination of a generous salary, which is helping reinvigorate Keegan's Soccer Circus business in Glasgow, and a burning desire to confound those who dub him a serial quitter virtually rule out the possibility of the former England coach resigning." Not exactly spot on there then But seriously, I'm sure your right in that she got some things correct, but so did a lot of people. I just don't agree that she was actually spot on. IMO she printed a huge amount of negative stories, some no doubt with genuine sources and some without, about a situation which always had the potential for disaster, some of it stuck and plenty of it didn't.
  2. You're blaming them for a player picking up an injury mackems.gif He had injury problems before that, why the fuck do you think they loaned him out? To prove his fitness, and it blew up in their faces
  3. Because you know for a fact he did a lot of good for us? Nobody knows how well he did he job..
  4. They're made some very good signings, but they also made some poor ones, especially Gonzales which has been an utter disaster. Meanwhile they left numerous holes in the squad while £12 or so million sat in the bank unused. They also missed out on quite a few signings, and I'd hardly say Jiminez hoodwinked Mallorca into handing over Jonas for peanuts, they had no say in the matter. But I congratulate them none the less for identifying him and acting quickly to sign him first. In other words its been a very mixed bag IMO.
  5. You're right it looks much worse then the Emirates, it looks like some kind of plastic moulded piece of shit to me.

possibly, but i still blame him entirely for last week. Absolutely, his substitutions are the real problem I see with him, the changes he made last week were truly awful. Hopefully he can improve on that, nothing to complain about this week, but that could be a blip.

Kinnear isn't great but he's not horrendous either IMO. He's better then the likes of Roeder, Souness or Allardyce for instance. Like I've said before at least he picks good sides and can get them playing. He also drops players if they're under performing and keeps players in who perform well, more then you can say for quite a few of our past managers.

I don't agree, we picked up 15 points in our last 11 games and our next 11 are potentially easier. By potentially easier I mean they're easier according to this seasons form guide (the premiership itself) but nobody can really predict how easy each game will be. Still its a good indicator. So I can't see us only getting only 18 points from our next 21 games.

Lets see them spend hundreds of millions on the best players in the world from the Championship! mackems.gif

Alright, "freak result" was perhaps the wrong terminology in this case. What I mean is that it'll take for us to be on a consistent running streak for me to be convinced we're safe for this season. I agree we're definitely not safe yet, though IMO we're more likely to stay up then go down.

    Jonas Gutierrez

Three assists in eleven games. But most importantly 2 in the last 2.
  13. He'd be mad not to accept if we offer him a 3 year contract on his current wage, unless he can lure the likes of Manure ect, which I seriously doubt.
  14. Hate to say this, but come on Chelsea!

To me its not a freak result, its the kind of result we were always going to pick up on occasions throughout the season because we do have some very good players. Add that to not getting beaten often and we were looking fairly safe IMO. Even though I was, and still am, a little bit worried.

    Kinnear Out

I like Kinnear in many ways, its only his substitutions, which can be absolutely baffling, that stop me from rating him as a decent to good manager. He's certainly done well in picking starting sides in my view. Unlike so many Newcastle managers (Roeder, Souness, Allardyce) in the past he hasn't kept dropping back to the same underperforming players no matter what. If someone's done well they've kept their place and that counts for a lot IMO. He just has to learn from some of his substitution nightmares and if he can do that I'd be very impressed with him.

Down from 4 to 3. Like I said things aren't as bad as a lot of people thought.
  18. Hopefully he won't be able to play against us and Dawson will have to play.
  19. How bad is Woodgates injury? Or how bad did it look?
  20. Its a right bastard that they've rested King by the way, that means he'll play against us. The stats say that the Spuds haven't won a game without King, while they've won 50% of games with him.
  21. We do?! Based on what? Based on the fact we're not losing like a lot of the teams around us. Based on the fact that we're only just below mid table in the Premiership form guide since Kinnear arrived. Based on the fact that we've got plenty of games left to play. On what do you base not having hope? Just "I can't see us beating them"?, because I couldn't see us beating Villa or taking a point off Chelsea, results will crop up that we don't expect, otherwise we'd be betting milionaires. The fact is if the form we're under since Kinnear arrived, disapointing as a lot of the results have been, continues then we'll be safe. I'm worried like anyone else, but what I don't understand is the shear panic that's going around, people thinking we're doomed, that it looks bleak ect. Its a total exageration.
  22. Problem is that I can't see where that win will come from. Sunday, 21 December 2008 Barclays Premier League Newcastle v Tottenham, 15:00 That'll be the same Tottenham that beat our full team 2-1 when they were absolutely terrible, and are now a much much better side and we've got worse? Don't talk crap man, when we played the Spuds in the cup we were near the end of a 5 game period which brought us a total of 5 losses, with no manager. But we're worse now are we?, despite taking 12 points from 10 since Kinnear arrived..
  23. I assume he meant what he said (thinks there's no hope for us), just a difference of opinion. IMO the likes of West Brome have no hope, we've got plenty.
  24. Eh? Are you joking? I'd say that's probably the weakest part of the entire team, both in terms of numbers AND quality. Speechless.... two words, central midfield.
