Anyone know who the other offer is from? Can't remember any other club being reported as interested.

IMO they should force all clubs to stand on there own two feet and work as a business. Limit debt and stop people from pumping piles of outside money into clubs. Basically force clubs to work within there own revenue plus maybe a level of outside debt based on a percentage of that revenue.

Not really fair to say that Allarcyce had to fund most of his transfers by selling players. The likes of Dyer wanted to go, we didn't sell them to bring in cash for any of the players we signed (we even kept signing players when Dyer's transfer initially collapsed). Also lets remember we've made relatively large bids for players, Ashley can hardly be blamed or accused of not being willing to spend when we miss out on a target..

He's not really at the age where his transfer fee should dwindle to be honest (only 28), but yeah he hasn't played well for a while and his team are relegated, so £7 million seems a bit much.

Not suggesting in the slightest that we have, but to be so glib about it is pretty ignorant. I'd guess this part of article 17 stopped any chance of him going to Portsmouth after he broke his contract. That doesn't apply in this case, and it still wouldn't have applied had he decided to sign for Portsmouth. The key phrase there is "without just cause" he had just cause to terminate his contract.

Just seen it mentioned in another thread that while a player can pay off his contract and leave after three years the club he goes to also has to pay the same amount to the club he's leaving. So in effect the club the player leaves would get twice the worth of the remaining contract. Does anyone know if it definitely works like this? If so its much more reasonable then I first thought.

Indeed there are many courts, but you can appeal an counter-appeal, and it is these two courts who ultimately make the final decisions regardless of what gets said elsewhere. I just think that after enough cases are brought by clubs themselves this ruling will be re-thought, its too idiotic not to be BTW which two courts are you actually referring to? CAS is obviously the Court of Arbitration for Sport, what's the other?

FIFA have taken it to court perhaps, but there are many courts and many clubs out there who won't accept this. The Bosman ruling is one thing, it actually makes sense and was always going to be accepted, this ruling doesn't make sense and won't be accepted IMO.
