  1. It wasn't racism, it was satire. I think he knows that James FFS! You really get on my tits ! Eh, Earth to Pegasus. I don't think he does. [/zoolander] Do you understand that the world does not revolve around you and your "do whatever it takes, ruin as many people's lives, so long as you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied along the way, just so long so you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied and dying along the way"?...
  2. It wasn't racism, it was satire. Who says I was talking about that..
  3. Who says he hasn't been offered the chance to talk to us, or sounded out in some other way? Newcastle are doing exactly what they should be doing, interviewing candidates from a short list of managers from around the world and then picking the one they think will be the best man for the job. That's far better then spending all our time chasing Mourinho round like a love sick child "Oh go on mourinho manage us, I'll be your friend.. please". Get over it for fuck sake!
  4. Its hardly a Jol appointment.. Jol was an almost unknown 48 year old who had been managing for 13 years winning one cup in the process before taking over Spurs. Deschamps is considered one of the brightest up and coming managers in Europe and has won more then Jol, and taken a club to the Champions League final, at the age of only 39. Not that Jol was a bad appointment for Spurs mind Im of the mindset that Newcastle is a mid table team/uefa cup challenger at this very moment. I think that in order to make the next step we need a really ambitious appointment (coupled with a sizeable transfer fund, but I'm assuming that a new manager would be given this). While I think that Deschamps or Jol for that matter could get us the Uefa cup place I don't think they can progress this club to a Champions league challenger, which should be what we are looking for. What we need in order to compete at that level is a manager with the experience of winning. I think Deschamps would be an adequate appointment but i'm unsure of his ability to take us to that level. I would much prefer a proven winner like Van Gaal. Why shouldn't he be able to get us to the Champions League given time? He has experience of being in the Champions League and indeed took Monaco to the final in 2004. He's also won trophies in the short time he's been in management. Whatever you think of wanting Van Gaal its extremely unlikely, and doesn't change the fact that Deschamps is almost nothing like Jol..
  5. well said. Let's just ignore the CL final appearance. I see your final and raise you Boumsong. (Sorry to be a soppy get, but I wouldn't want someone running this club that wouldn't have give us a second thought in his playing career.) He bought Boumsong for a million or two to play in Serie B, and he did well for them, so what's the problem?

  7. Aye, I'm surprised at such goodwill towards him tbh. Not to say he isn't good (I have no idea), but he's done nothing compared to Houllier, for example. A foreign Hughes? Could be because Houllier played pretty ugly Football at Liverpool, while everyone seems to agree that Deschamps played good attacking Football at both Monaco and Juve. Also Houllier might have been seen by some as a Liverpool reject, I wouldn't agree of course. But I can see a lot of fans wanting a manager who hasn't already been at another Premiership club (unless he was incredibly successful like Mourinho).
  8. Ladbrokes have as well AFAICS, and a few others I think, but I'm not sure. Its been said that this is a routine thing that happens every night. But loads of them are still taking bets so I'm not sure if these sites have closed early for the night or if they geniunely have just stopped taking bets altogether.
  9. That's happened a few times already. They'll probably be back up shortly. I'm sure it will have happened with Redknapp since he was very close to becoming the new manager, but I didn't think it'd happened since. How many times have th bookies done this so far?, just a few or loads?
  10. Serously, Ladbrokes don't seem to be taking bets on this anymore, neither do Skybet and about half of the others. They're all closing there books..
  11. Is it just me or have many booklies just stopped taking bets on this?
  12. Will he also get them to the Champions League final? EDIT: Well beaten by hindu times.
  13. Moncur hasn't got a fucking clue what he's on about.
  14. Which has what to do with Football management?
  15. Tbf, he's only had one real job. The other one was a mickey mouse one in which anyone could have succeeded (bringing Juve back up). It's an ambitious move and has come out of nowhere but I don't see much difference between him and Shearer. He'll know more about football in general because of his international and club experience but Shearer will get more time from our fans. I wonder why they've gone for him and not Shearer Really?? They started on minus 10 points wasn't it? Plus I'm sure quite a few of there best players left as well, yet they still finished top.
  16. Bollocks until Houllier actually says it himself.
  17. Bloody hell, they must have heard something..
  18. Oh no I've been found out, yes I admit it, I did it!.. I clicked the wrong quote link, and it took me a whole 30 seconds to correct it! This debacle has shamed me horribly
  19. I'd say the one interesting thing in that whole load of waffle was his claim that he spoke to Redknapp and most of the conversation was about what he was going to do at Newcastle when he arrived. If true it shows that Mort/Ashley had every reason to believe they had Redknapp sewn up when they sacked Allardyce. Of course Anal might just be spouting shit to try to explain why the early edition of the Chronicle claimed Redknapp was our knew manager hours before it was made public that he was staying at Portsmouth..
  20. Nobody's said anything about being happy because we did ok in the first half, get a grip, read people's posts, and calm down.
  21. Have to agree that goal was Given's fault. Cacapa shouldn't really have passed it to Enrique there, but the ball back to Given was fine and he should have been able to clear it. Though I have to add that even though I hold Given responsible for that goal I don't subscribe to the idea some have that he was at fault for just about everything in the game and should be sold
