  1. Diarra is a ready made replacement for Emre?.. in which alternate reality?
  2. He let go of David Bentley, for a pretty small sum as well as far as I remember. It all comes down to keeping players happy, like Bentley, Diarra obviously isn't happy with being thought of as one for the future and wants regular Football now.
  3. We can get 3 players for the best part of £50m as Souey proved. That was years ago, we were a champions league chasing side, in the UEFA cup. We could then, we can't now. What? We'd finished 14th in the Premiership the season before we signed those players and we weren't in Europe in any form. We're a premiership side, that's enough to attract big players if you're willing to spend the cash. Of course it also doesn't hurt that we've at least been in Europe plenty of times unlike most of the rest of the Premiership..
  4. One player didn't work out so no other can?.. fantastic logic, well done.. Anyway O'Brien was considered promising because we heard he had great pace, I don't remember anyone thinking he looked like a good player after actually seeing him play. I remember thinking he looked like he could run very fast without the ball, but had little ball control and couldn't cross.
  5. They just want a different manager, someone who won't be incredibly negative, who won't play his favourite players no matter what and out of position to boot. All they want is a manager who can show that progress is being made. Of course ask a fan who there suggestion for manager is you'll get some of them mentioning Shearer, Keegan ect, as well as plenty mentioning Mourinho and a plethora of others. But the overiding fact is the fans don't want Allardyce sacked because they want any manager in particular to replace him, they want him sacked because they think he's shit!
  6. How can anyone actually agree with such nonesense, get a grip for f*** sake. Answer this question, any of you (Happy Face, Toon4Life ect), if Shearer didn't even excist what would be happening right now as far as supporter opinion towards Allardyce? If you really think about that and answer it honestly I think you'll realise what complete bollocks this all is. Its amazing how the press works in this country really. They are the ones creating this whole "Shearer for manager" bandwagon (most Newcastle fans would want someone else), then they have the audacity to come out and write articles about how wrong the fans are for wanting Shearer So called Jounralists in this country really do just create there own little fantasy world and report within it.
  7. He ran forward at speed and with very good close control, which is already more then most of our team can do. Nobody's saying he's obviously amazing and should start the next game. But he looked very promising, especially for a 17 year old.
  8. Bench Harper, Cacapa, Edgar, Lua Lua, Carroll EDIT: Beaten by 4 seconds
  9. Given Rozenhal - Taylor - Faye - Enrique Duff - Smith - Butt - N'Zogbia Viduka - Owen My only problem with this team is Smith in midfield again. Like many have said in the past, if Smith isn't up front he shouldn't be in the team. If Emre had started instead of Smith I would be very happy with that side, as it is its still better then usual so I'm still happy-ish (even though I suspect this has actually been forced upon Allardyce due to missing players and he'll go back to the usual s*** when possible). To be clear the official team sheet isn't out yet, so none of this is 100% yet.
  10. Enrique starts, N'Zogbia on left wing, Duff right wing, Viduka and Owen up front.
  11. Nobody's turned it around before?, what total bollocks Keegan failed did he?, Robson failed? Well then by fat Sam's standards we should expect to win the league and cup in the next few years or he'll have to admit he's failed. As to the article and Ashley's so called quotes, this is the News of the World, its like the Viz but not as funny. I wouldn't believe a thing in there that isn't directly quoted, and even then I'd assume its taken out of context.
  12. I agree. It's f****** cheating. Keane does it all the time. I was always under the impression that it was a 'clean' run up and strike at goal. As i said, it always used to be but seems to be ignored. John Aldridge started it. I was just going to mention Aldridge when I saw your next post. Did they go through ashort period of banning him from doing this ? I think there was much talk about it, but don't know if it actually happened. Talking of cheating, see also the tendency of some keepers to be about 6 feet off their line when the kick is taken. These are simple rules which seem to get ignored an awful lot nowadays. I fear its not picked up on for the reasons similar to technology being introduced. I think they know it will take too long to have to re-take penalties about 5 times until the keeper stops coming forward. its like trying to get a defensive wall at a free kick to actually stay 10 yards from the ball. Why refs' dont just say to them, "move 1 inch forward and your all booked" I just dont know. Its not difficult when your dealing with a single player (or two if both keepers do it in a shootout). The first time he does it you call for the retake and say "next time you step off your line your off the pitch". The sub keeper can take over if neccesary. Its impossible to do that with a wall of players at a freekick, because if they don't listen and get sent off the match ends automatically
  13. If this is an outright lie then it will go down as the most outrageous one yet from Anal. Is the article on the net yet?
  14. So the whole of the world has a soft spot Klinsman? Did I say that? I'll rephrase...Outside of England...The North East, no one gives a f*** about Shearer. Complete bollocks, Shearer is known and respected the world over. I think your really letting this crush get out of hand if you think that Klinsman is so well known and respected in comparison to Shearer.
  15. But he spent 6 million on Smith, add a million or two to that and he could have gone for the likes of Elano or Muntari. Players who would not only have improved the squad but would also have improved the first team dramatically. He went with the same formula he always does. Two defensive midfielders and one not defensive but hardly attacking midfielder. One up front, five in midfield with two breaking from midfield to back up the lone striker. We could also have bought almost anybody instead of 9.5m quid on Luque How complete irrelevant and pointless can you get? What does Luque have to do with Allardyce or Smith or giving Allardyce money for an attacking player?
  16. Marcotti and Claridge on Five Live tonight reckoned it was a load of bollocks, and basically you get what you see with Allardyce. 'Like going into a sushi restaurant and asking for Yorkshire pudding' was how they put it. Beginning to agree with them. What was bollocks? Also what's 'you get what you see' supposed to mean? Could you go into more detail on this please.
  17. No he hasn't, he's had two poor games against a top 4 side and a pretty decent team in Man City. He's had plenty of poor games on the left as well, he's just played much more on the left and so had more chances to play well.
  18. Wait, wait, wait... hold the phone... a whole two goals?! In 90 minutes?! That's outrageous. It can't be done! Why does he want to resurrect a defensive problem?? See this is where he's going wrong
  19. He's not slow due to age, he's slow due to being a fat bastard.
  20. Really?, I've never heard that before.
  22. Not a huge amount but am going off the principle that if Ashley can afford to pay off debt (that is perfectly acceptable for Arse/Man U/Liverpool/Chelsea to carry in far bigger proportions) then he can afford £20m to give Allardyce a couple of decent attacking players. Long term its hard to say about Allardyce but i think people have poor judgement about our players if they think we have a Muntari, an Elano or an Arteta. We dont and these players are the ones sticking the points on the board for those teams. Well you've got a point about Ashley being loaded and us needing that kind of player. But at the same time Allardyce could have gone for Elano or Muntari or someone else of a similar mold, but instead he spent a similar sum on Alan Smith...
  23. I can't deny it does make me feel a bit better to read that, I'd love to know the specifics of when the manager started to actually get to grips with things. Obviously they must have gone on a excellent run late on to finish 11th if they were relegation candidates for a lot of the season. Why do you need specifics? Just to give you more ammo against Allardyce??? Yeah of course, I have a personal vendetta against Allardyce, didn't you know he killed my favourite gold fish before he even came to Newcastle and I've been plotting against him ever since? Don't you think perhaps I might just want as many specifics as possible because it gives me hope that things can get better?.. If I'm going to look at Villa's situation last season as a template for Newcastle this season then I want to know as much about it as possible. Not only do I not care wether or not Villa fans wanted him sacked but I really don't see what that has to do with asking for specifics about when the manager turned things around. Oh and by the way, did you not see where Brummie wrote about fans booing every match, that's patience is it?
  24. He must feel like he never came back to England training with Arsenal
