  1. We were told a Premiership "stopper" had rejected us for a rumoured £6M-7M price (which must have surely been speculation) and Silvestre's name came out later. I'm not saying it was definitely him, merely highlighting the fact that we don't know exactly who it was or how much we'd actually bid for that particular player. Or if it happened at all. As far as I remember the Chronicle came out with the £7 million bid for a mystery defender story. Then a few days later they reported the player had rejected us. Then soon after other papers said it had been Heinze. The Silvestre story was a week or so later and entirely seperate (nobody claimed otherwise anyway). The story seems quite believable to me and nobody ever denied it so I'd tend to believe it probably was true.
  2. The Silvestre rumour came about a bit later and I don't remember there being any link to the previous story. Did I miss something in the Silvestre story?
  3. Baines considered moving to Sunderland (took him over a week to finally decide not to go there), so yes I think its extremely safe to say he'd move here in a flash, he's obviously looking to move but nobody bar Sunderland have offered for him, which tells its own story.. Shorey, well that's less obvious but again I think he'd come. And yes we do have the money available for either player, we offered more for Heinze then it would take to sign either of them. It's been confirmed that we didn't make a bid for Heinze, Sam just said he would be interested. Confirmed by who? Geniune question, because I didn't read any confirmation. After the "7 million bid for a defender" story was reported I seem to remember several papers reporting that it had been Heinze and he'd rejected the move.
  4. What I mean is this deal could have been planned for weeks now, deals don't just happen. PSG might only recently have agreed to sell, the player could have been on holiday or had other commitments ect. Lets not right the lad off before he gets here simply because he will only cost a million pounds (which is mostly due to his contract only having 1 year left apparently) and we didn't sign him the instant Sam became manager. If we sign him at all of course

  6. What is this "that good" you keep talking about Its meaningless without a definition.
  7. We offered £7 million for Heinze, so that logic goes out of the window right there. The fact that we haven't offered for Baines tells me one thing, Allardyce doesn't like him as a defender (he spoke of wanting a defender first and foremost rather then a attacking player who can defend).
  8. Using that logic we now can't possibly sign any good players. Because if any of the future players we might sign were any good we'd have signed them weeks ago.. yeah? I'd strike Baines and Shorey from that list janitor, IMO if Allardyce wanted either of them we'd have them..
  9. Hmm, rather strange random thought there..
  10. 5'11" is tiny, I'm 5'10" and I'm a short-arse. 5'11" tiny? Its above average height, and more then tall enough for a left back.
  11. How good is the official stream? Does it stop start at all like the free streams? Also what's the quality like?
  12. When was Keegan ever a Director of Football working with Sam Allardyce in the past?..
  13. The channel activation doesn't come through a phone line. Its through the dish. As long as Setanta have your details (card number ect) then there's no problem.

    Salgado.

We can't sign Salgado.. Luque absolutely ripped the piss out of him in his time in Spain. Which according to some here automatically means that Salgado must be a division 3 standard player.. Anyway, yeah better then Carr so I'd take him on a short term deal (no more than one year).
  15. Has anyone actually heard that Luque is fit enough to play?
  16. Yeah I know Anyway I think I will get this for a month. Four Newcastle friendlies and whatever other Football, boxing ect is on that month is pretty good for £10. Considering the fact that in the past I've paid up to £8 for one Newcastle match..
  17. Ah right I was thinking of Setanta as seperate from Sky for some reason..
  18. 8 quid i believe. So how much is a subscription? Also is there any length of contract on it?
  19. just go anyway Nah I'm not going to pay £20 (including bus fare) to go and watch a bunch of misfits when I could just watch them on TV. I'll go if the team is going to actually include a decent number of first team players..
  20. Who is fit to play? Trying to decide wether its even worth going to this match..
  21. It isn't our money, its all his money and as I said he'll spend what's needed.. Sorry but its just crazy to believe that a man like Ashley will spend £140 million on a Football club and then do nothing to improve his new asset. He needs this club to improve massively, otherwise his investment will lose value. To do that we need to become a regular side in the Champions League. Once that happens we will have the funds neccesary to compete with the very top teams. But to get there in the first place, especially within a reasonable timeframe, he will know that we need extra cash from outside the club. Currently we're a club nowhere near the top four and in £80 million debt. How on earth do you think Ashley expects to make a profit on his investment by not even competing with the likes of Spurs and West Ham? (never mind Liverpool, Manure and Chelsea).
  22. Its all his money now. He'll put in the amount needed to improve the club and make it successful. Otherwise his initial £140 million investment would have been pointless from the start and he will know that. Do you think that Ashley believes that this club will drastically improve by spending £10-£15 million or so from club turnover with the likes of West Ham, Tottenham and even Wigan spending more? Or do you think Ashley's plan is to spend £140 million on a Football club with the intention of doing zero with it?
  23. Yeah I'm sure Dyer has been asked and agreed to just pretend he wants to leave so we can get some money without letting on that we don't have any... Sorry mate but that's nuts. Similar to the idea of it being a good business decision not to put money into improving a investment you just spent £140 million on. Much better to let it go further downhill and watch that £140 million dwindle to nowt isn't it?.... Clearly at the moment we have money (see the recent £7 million bid). But as of yet we don't know how much money that is or wether its been limited for internal reasons. One things for sure, to improve a Football club you have to put money in. How on earth do you think he plans to improve the fortunes of this club in order to make himself some profit eventually without providing funds to the manager?..
