Forgeting for a moment the obvious fact that you have no clue what any of our players are interested in, why on earth would a Footballer not want to play Football? I mean really, how silly... Luque has never hidden or pretended he can't play and has always looked eager to get onto the field. Obviously what you really call not being interested is in fact not racing about the back four in an attempt to look useful.. The stupidest part of all this is that if Roeder had given Luque a good run in the first team recently we could not possibly be any lower then we are down the table now (almost definitely higher as even a lethargic Luque can pop a couple of 30 yarders in out of nothing, as he showed against Liverpool) and nobody on this forum or anywhere else would be in any doubt wether he was worth playing or not, because we'd all have seen for ourselves either way. Same goes for the next few games really, we have no chance against Arsenal with our current strike force, something even you admit. Yet you would rather keep the status quo, which may I remind you is losing just about every game possible, rather then changing things and seeing what happens. Another thing that I find quite amusing is the fact that people like you on one hand call Roeder insane for his decisions such as playing Ameobi when obviously badley injured and then on the other hand use the fact that he won't play Luque as some kind of evidence of how crap he is. As if Roeder is utterly clueless at judging players and picking teams and should be sacked.. er.. but he must be spot on about Luque , amazing. Anyway rant over, now for a more on topic rant. Is Roeder blind or insane? Ameobi looked absolutely useless against Man City, litterally useless, why on earth does he think that he'll be any more effective against Arsenal? We have quite a few players far better equipped then Ameobi currently is to play up front. If he hates Luque so much then there's still Rossi, Sibierski and Dyer who could play there and be a million times better then Shola with his current problems. I honestly can't grasp the reasoning behind this decision, its completely baffling and there's no doubt in my mind that Roeder has surpassed even Souness when it comes to poor decision making. At least Souness's bad decisions were based on something, usually his own ego, but this is something else..

That said he's still far better value then Carr, who's incompetent and cost £2.5 million Incidentally Roeder thinks both of them are wonderful, two of our best players in fact..

35 appearances last season and 11 this year isn't too bad mind. I don't know, I think the fact that he plays so many games for us is incredibly bad.

Against FIFA rules. If a player is called up (even if they have retired) they have to go, or be suspended from playing for their club. Where does it say that in the rules?? We're talking about international Football here, not national service. Its entirely up to the player wether or not they're available to be called up..

Rossi looked twice the player Luque was in a game Luque didn't play in?, well thats difficult.. How about we compare both players in a game they both played in, the Shef UTD game. Rossi was poor and didn't come close to scoring, Luque came on and looked better then him. Yes Rossi has been playing up front almost by himself. But the game before Luque had played the same role, probably even more isolated actually, against the top of the table serie A side and scored the winner.. Yet apparently Luque doesn't deserve to play and Rossi does?... Don't get me wrong, unlike some I'm not pig headed, I think Rossi is a good player and should get a chance. But so should Luque, preferably both in the same team. Yet the idiot controlling this team will no doubt continue to play Rossi up front by himself, a position he failed at badley, with the inept Duff backing him up. What's even more beyond belief in my opinion is that your actually happy with that..

Actually boby nobody expects Luque to save our season, that kind of thinking is idiotic (of any player) and is the reason why our fans help ruin so many of them. No one player will save our season, its about getting the best collection of players we can on to the pitch on a game by game basis. It just so happens that a lot of people think Luque is one of the players who should be in our team at the moment. If you enterpret that as people thinking that one player is the answer to all our prayers then that's your problem.

Throwing money at the situation isn't the answer! I thought everyone would have learned that by now. A decent manager would be able to get far more out of the players we already have.

Troisi and Carroll have had there chance, they've been named on the first team squad, they should have scored by now, lazy bastards!

What Glen means to say is "Luque will be the scapegoat for a beating tomorrow".. He's going to be playing against a team currently top of Serie A with the reserve team around him.. what a great opportunity eh.. EDIT: Well if this squad is correct (and I'm doubtful considering it includes Given and Rossi...) then perhaps Roeder could still put out a decent team: Harper, Krul, Forster, Given, Taylor, Moore, Bramble, Ramage, Huntington, Bernard, Solano, Emre, N'Zogbia, Butt, Milner, Troisi, Pattison, O'Brien, Luque, Rossi, Sibierski, Carroll. I'd be happy enough with: ......................Harper Ramage.. Taylor.. Moore.. Bernard Solano.. Butt.. Emre.. N'Zogbia ...............Sibi... Luque I doubt it though, he'll probably start the kids and play Luque up front on his own

Shola isn't our most likely goal threat for fuck sake.. Sorry but I won't be shedding any tears over this. Not because Shola's so bad that we need him out of the squad, but because Roeder is complerely delusional towards him. Roeder see's Shola as the clubs number 1 striker (well maybe number 2 when Owen is fit). Rossi, Luque and even Martins are behind him in Roeders opinion and this just isn't good for the team. Maybe this will force Roeder to play Rossi/Martins, Luque/Martins or Rossi/Luque instead and when Ameobi finally does come back at least he'll be a better player for not carrying this injury every game..

It is amazing how quickly a player can adapt when he actually gets a run of games in his favoured position. Had we played Martins in midfield and given him his last 3 starts over the course of 4 months I doubt he would have started to adapt so quickly

If they can't then it's definatly the players fault as they are all of a good enough quality and have played enough Premiership football (bar 1) to get us there. We need to actually start playing Football for a start, because at the moment most of our players seem stuck in "Shearer's up front" mode. Luque doesn't need a team built around him, he just needs to be playing in a position he knows and in a team that at least try to play Football. He's not a center forward and never has been, he can play off a good center forward (either as a second striker or as a wing foward in a forward three) or in behind but not in place of one.. His strengths and weaknesses were pretty obvious just from watching the Villareal game (but its been the same in all the games this pre-season). When he was stuck in the box by himself with crosses flying in he looked lost. It was only when he started to drop deep and pick the ball up outside the box that he started to look good. With some clever quick passing, good touches and a couple of good runs. The way I see it no matter what happens we need a top striker here for the new season, I think everyone agrees with that. So the question becomes, do you look for a striker who can work with Ameobi or with Luque? Because IMO depending on the answer you'd be looking for two different players.
