  7. Hello one and all, Firstly we'd like to thank everybody who took the time to create and submit a design for our competition and we'd like to apologise for the delay that there has been between the deadline for submissions and the final vote. Due to the current incarnation of the forum not being fully tweaked yet, we have had to postpone the design plans for the "new" Newcastle-Online for a little while, but we're hoping we can get into the swing of things soon, hence why it is time to put the best entries at your mercy. Please remember that you are simply voting for your favourite image, but also bear in mind that the winning design may be used as a template for the entire N-O website - whether the image is a standard logo or a header doesn't matter as the winning design will not necessarily be the exact final product when the whole redesign is complete. We will be looking to work with the winning designer to sculpt the future of this place. Due to the importance of the competition, rather than just creating a basic anonymous poll the voting system will be as follows: • Approved entries will be posted in the chronological order of their submission below. • To vote for your favourite design you simply need to "quote" the post that contains it and submit it as a post of your own, no text is necessary. • Voting will run until Sunday 8th February 2009 @ 11.59pm. And it wouldn't be N-O without a few regulations, would it? • If the vote is tied the final decision will be made by the Admin team and the winner will be announced in due course. • Votes will only be accepted if they are submitted as outlined above. • The winning image will fall under the ownership of Newcastle-Online and may be incorporated into the new design for the website. • Although a winner will be chosen and rewarded in kind, the Admin reserve the right to use an alternate/modified image for the new site, should it be deemed necessary. Finally, the winner of the vote will receive a free t-shirt of their choice from the Newcastle-Online Shop! Good luck to all of our entrants and happy voting to all of you lot!
  8. Wor lass had 8 inches this morning and she's still on. Did you get a red willy?
  9. On .co.uk, Joe reckons Oba is closest to starting out of the returning forwards but that Smith and Viduka could both be in contention. At the least he expects them to be on the bench and fit to come on for a spell.
  10. The fact that Ashley only saw our players train for the first time last week says it all. He has completely underestimated the role he would have as owner of NUFC. Fair play to Kinnear for his persistance on all of this, like, seems to be getting through.

    Steven Taylor

He's not the first to have said that about Taylor. Viduka said it recently on NUFC TV and I'm sure I've seen him mentioned as the thickest on Soccer AM as well - maybe even Shearer when he was on? Can't remember for certain.
  12. Wullie/johnnypd: Surely it couldn't just be that he hasn't got the first clue about how to run a football club or, more specifically, how to run Newcastle United. He's never been involved in football before, it would be realistic. I was watching a documentary about Sir Alan Sugar the other day and it talked about him buying Spurs, which he absolutely, positively regretted because he'd been a very successful businessman in his own right and he was thrown into a world where he had no experience and where the vast majority of people he was dealing with were utter cunts, basically, if you take him at his word. He had a director of football in Terry Venables there at the time, who had been part of the takeover and STILL ended up sacking him: That's from Wikipedia and I see a lot of similarities. I genuinely think he's bought a bastard and he hasn't got a clue how to do things in a way that will be both supported and make sound financial sense. But I don't think he was here to rip us off or drive us into the ground.
  13. That's what he wanted to do. The failure to do so is because he was too stupid to do his homework and he walked into a booby trap left by SJH. Speculation again mate. There's absolutely no proof to say he was here to make a quick buck. Why go to all the trouble with meetings and all that and sitting with the fans if that was the case? A lot doesn't add up if that was the case. He's made mistakes, aye, his structure hasn't worked yet, but howay man. To get the fans onside and sell three year season tickets which worked like a charm. Haven't the figures for how many of those got sold been posted on here? I'm sure it wasn't that many. Why the bollocks would he be allowing refunds if that was the case!? Surely he'd have made it a cast-iron contract.
  14. He'll get every penny back and more when he sells, unless we do something. If we continue to turn up regardless, he can hold out for the price he wants, we stop going, he'll be forced to accept less. We're the muppets "subsidising" the club, we dont get out money back. You either want him out or you don't. He's a businessman, he'd want some sort of profit if he sold it on. That's the way it is. That's what would stick with me, if it was true. If he's looking to make money from his time here then it leaves a very sour taste indeed. It's like me buying a clapped out car and crashing it a few times and then trying to sell it on for more than I paid for it.
  15. That's what he wanted to do. The failure to do so is because he was too stupid to do his homework and he walked into a booby trap left by SJH. Speculation again mate. 16. I'm still not convinced Mike Ashley is "evil" like, whatever has happened.
  17. Hear, hear. It's very easy for people to sit on here and scoff at their suggestions but the fact that people are unwilling to go to the Irish Centre and bring these apparently salient points up shows them up as feckless keyboard warriors. There have been a few idiots on tonight but for the most part the people there have been well spoken and knowledgable. Certainly much more knowledgable than people on here. I think its great, whoever had this idea and put it all together wants a pat on the back. Fills me with hope. Here we all are on the web, on a Newcastle forum as Newcastle fans listening to Newcastle fans at a bar in the Toon discussing the future of the club, united to try and do something positive. Top stuff and listening makes me wish I was there to have my own say and I imagine others listening will wish they were there too and hopefully this stream will get some of these listeners along next time. I know I'll be there. I bet you fucking won't.
  18. Fair point on the wider view, something I wanted NUFC to do themselves when we had the dialogue with Chris Mort. You cannot base things on a few blokes off websites or off 250 fans who mainly want Mike Ashley out, you need to get the season ticket holders involved and see what the majority view is. Something has to be done to inspire everyone to get involved and have their view on things.
  19. http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php He's gone off there and there's been no mention of him being injured anywhere in print this week as far as I'm aware. The bloke is made from coltan.
  20. Probably not but one has just scored a massive goal and put in a shift half-fit for Kinnear (who seems to love him anyway) and the other is by far and away our biggest threat in away games, so I'd expect that's the way it's going to be if neither of them get knocks before Saturday. I think it's possibly the most brainless/frustrating combination we could come up with, personally, but we'll see how it goes... can't ever remember being impressed with them up top together in their previous games.

Doubtful. Unless you fancy 'Boro at Man City...
  22. Will be very surprised to see anything other than: Harper S. Taylor Coloccini Bassong Enrique R. Taylor Butt Nolan Duff Ameobi Martins SUBS: Krul, Edgar, Geremi, Lovenkrands, Smith, Carroll, Viduka. 2-2 draw, loads of talk on the radio about having 4 strikers on the bench...
  23. De Mul is a decent shout but we don't need another Lw, and as JCM I've not seen him since his time in Germany has he improved? De Mul is a right winger... Nixon, I'm beginning to think you're a bit of a blagger ...I suspect I may be late to the party... Sorry for making a simple mistake, I forgot you weren't allowed to do that here. And yes I was talking of Menesguez when I said Germany. For christ sake 1 mistake and you think I use Wikipedia. How can you not of heard of De Mul? Menesguez fair enough because it's been a couple of years since he was at Wolfsburg, but Tom De Mul is what I would consider a good sized name. Also I'd probably pass on Dalla Bona would want a good sized contract, when he's a bit nomadic. (Wasn't just that post that set the alarm bells ringing Nixon! I've been suspicious since day one.)
