Aye, I am not a huge fan of the high performance podcast. The pair of them just seem too far up their own backsides. I think we might evolve into a 4-1-4-1 this year. If we buy a specialist defensive midfielder to sit in front of the back four (three when wing backs get up pitch) we will always have 1 midfielder and 3 defenders to screen against counter attacks. We will also have more numbers up front for a high press and attacking zeal! If Kalvin phillips was available, and has no long term injury doubts, he would fit us perfectly. Would also look to get a pacy right back, the only tines schar has looked bad has been against speedy forwards (rashford/watkins). Add to the above a decent number 10 type (Dom or Mads) to unlock low block defences and we have a great starting eleven, with decent back up on the bench.

Obviously a loan to a decent championship club would do the world of good. If he looks quality we keep him, if not sell him on for a profit.

Couple of rags in Spain claiming that we are very close to signing Gabi Veiga from Celta Vigo. Has played both 6 & 8 positions in central midfield, is a “classy” player who arrives in the box at the right times and likes to burst into spaces.
