  1. For £8.5m cash, they can keep NRC, I say yes. Decent first season but poor since. Fans have lost faith in him plus were on his back when he kept doing his pirouette on the ball. Take the money and replace him with defensive mid who can tackle and start off attacks.

    Makelele anyone?

He's a player on the way down, not the dominant force he was and getting on in years. Not a guarenteed starter at Chelsea anymore. I want us to move away from such signings i.e. fading star who moves to us for guarenteed games and big wages. We need young hungry players fighting for their places which will drive an overall improvement in the team, bringing in Makalele wouldn't help us achieve that.
  3. For £10M you can get a lot better standard of defender.

    New away kit?

It's just a concept for a new away kit by a fan.

    Nani

    Seconded.
  6. Would it not be possible to sign a contract saying it is effective from X date in the future. Then when said date arrives (coenciding with the opening of the transfer window) the contract is in effect and the player can be offically registered?

    Oba AWOL again

As long as he turns up for us I don't really care if he doesn't turn up for Nigeria. If he gets axed from the Nigerian team that means he won't be going to the African Cup of Nations which is good for us as we won't end up losing him mid season.
  8. Would be happy with Crouch but not at £10M, £7M-£8M Max.
  9. Good player Heinze but will have better offers. At his age he can't wait around while a club develops thats why we should go for players like Baines etc who have years ahead of them so a 2-3 year wait until we become challengers again won't mean that their careers have ended.
  10. Didn't know Blackpools owner was Latvian until I caught an interview at the end of the match. I can understand foreigners buying Premiership sides because of the prestige, challenging for titles, european club football. Why would he want to own a League one and now Championship side?

    Hyypia in Toon?

If the rumours are true would he be on a free or would a fee be involved?
  12. Looks like he's staying at Barca. Oh well onto Tevez then.
  13. The bit about Shepherd going for counter take over is pure BS. If he could have afforded it he would have done it a long time ago.

    Beckham loan move?

    ^ ^ ^ Isn't Allardyce on holiday?

    Beckham loan move?

It's a nothing story and if it were true I wouldn't want him and his skinny wife and the media circus that follows them around anywhere near Newcastle. To bring such a big "star" would just unsettle other players and the team as a whole.
  16. Still the right man, lets give the guy a chance.
  17. Real Madrid are going to win the La-Liga, how funny is that They played s*** all season, told Capello to f*** off and it looked like it was going to be another classic shocker of a season for them, now they just defeated the hardest team left to beat with ease..and look on course to win it. but Capello is still leaving and it seems that next season they will again try and find the proper guy for the job.. At least i will win my bet with my mates that Ruud Van Nistelrooy will finish as the leagues top goal scorer..coming from the EPL to a league where the likes of Diego Forlan can score 15+ goals every season ment that him finishing as top goal scorer is a must. 23 goals for the season for RVN including today's but he's a natural goals scorer. Eredevisie,EPL, La liga wherever the guy was always going to score goals.
  18. Cicinho on for Carlos for the last two minutes of Marid v Deportivo. Currently score 3-1 to Madrid. Lets see what impact he has.
  19. You're right, it does sound stupid. I'm loving the changed thread title, it implies that Cicinho is somehow less random than other Brazilians. i know I just had to say it..we are looking for a playmaker, why not shock the world and buy a former legened, nice shirt sales, his peformence didnt change alot (scored 15 in 24 last season) , he technique is still one of the best in the world, and he's here for free..why not take him as a back up for our team, Don't think a player of his reputation even late on in his career would want to be just a back up. If he doesn't get a decent offer he'll probably retire. We don't need an ageing former superstar and such a signing would only show us up as being a footbal circus.
  20. All good players, believe Fred wanted to leave Lyon because of problems with Houllier but now with him leaving I guess he'll stay. Blumer's a good player, I remember he scored a couple aginst Argentina in a Friendly for Brazil at the Emirates this summer if memory serves me correctly. Carvalho decent as well, looked very skillful in the few Champions league matches I saw him in. That would be the problem with signing such players as they all play regulary in the Champions league. Though the two in Russia and Ukraine may want to move to the milder climate in Newcastle.

    The Adriano Dilemma

Never rated Forlan too highly, just a guy with a very powerful shot really. He's Martins basically, only without the pace and the potential to improve his first touch as he gets older. I think Adriano would be worth a punt tbh, as if he started playing well again he'd be an ideal target man type up front which, something I believe Allardyce will be looking to add. Not entirely impossible we'd have a chance at getting him either if Inter want to sell and we're interested, as I can't see the really top clubs taking a risk on him. Not sure Inter will be keen to sell though tbh. I think that's unfair assesment of Forlan. IMO he's got good movement, he's hardworking, and know's where the goal is (though never showed that at Man U). He's improved whilst playing in La liga. Currently in the scoring charts ahead of the likes of the highly rated Villa and Torres. He was the top scorer the year before last. Regarding Adriano figures of £40M-£45M were being banded about a season ago, even off form I couldn't see him move for less than £15M-£20M. Thats just too much money for us for a player who may recapture past form and thus save us millions by buying relatively cheaply or he could go the other way meaning we lose on another transfer. Too much risk taking into account we may not have huge a transfer budget (Ashley may change that but nothing is certain) and we need our thin squad strenghtening in other areas.

    The Adriano Dilemma

Save the fee for a player in form. As has been suggested he probably wouldn't come here and if he did do we need a player who needs his confidence rebuilding? We need players who can slot in quickly and deliver. Talking about in form strickers I just watched Valencia vs Villareal, Forlan sored a great goal (not spectacular great but clever great). It was his 16th of the season and I recall he has said in the past he would like to have another try in the Prem. I'd be happy if we signed him.
  23. The bit in the article about Sam not expecting to do any transfer business quickly is a bit concerning, though its from the Sunday Sun, so not the most credible source.
