  1. I don’t think you quite understand why we’re here in this thread?
  2. Am I behind the times...I can’t find any mention of HTT.....has he left.
  3. Sometime under the tories I assume. Apparently 2014. She was also appointed by Sir Philip Green to chairman of Taveta, owners of the Arcadia Group. She keeps good company.
  4. The bread maker liked two Tweets. A Saudi football had an operation. Thanks
  5. I'm late to the party.....I've read the last few pages but still can't work out what's happened.....anyone like to summarise
  6. I live in leicestershire and there was a news item about the shop on The Local News. Apparently his business has tripled since the lockdown and they did say his cakes were delicious?
  7. I see FA has opened up a new shop in Nottinghamshire close to his SD Empire
  8. Remember that season well....went to Derby in April and lost 4-1 with us finishing with 8 men. Even down to 9 men at half time, Peacock scored to make it 2-1 and we nearly equalised later before tired legs eventually told. 3 weeks later and the famous 2-1 victory over Leicester at filbert street in the last game of the season.....wondrous times.
  9. Just about to post this Jinky, more assurance PIF are still just waiting for that green light ? You’re fun to be with....if you fell in a pit of breasts, you’d be the one to come out with a dummy?
  10. The latest from Mark Douglas...for those of you not wanting to read via the chronicle website. The Saudi PIF remain committed to the Newcastle United deal, although there will be no public statements to that effect. The PIF and chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan's return to the fore of late has seen plenty of coverage of their aspirations for the next few years - including an intriguing quote from Al-Rumayyan, who would have been on Newcastle's board, that professional sport remains a "priority" for the fund. It was always felt by those close to the deal that PIF would look elsewhere to invest in professional football if the Newcastle deal was definitively over. With things still rumbling in the background, there are assurances that won't happen. The deal - brought up in Parliament this week again - continues to be spoken about. A recent meeting of Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha with UK minister for Investment Gerry Grimstone was noted by some takeover watchers. Lord Grimstone was performing "shuttle diplomacy" on behalf of the group last summer. But for those who see it as a smooth ride, the International Olympic Committee's decision press for Saudi to be kept on a "blacklist" of potential rogue states when it comes to piracy illustrates the work still to be done. Interestingly, Rafa Benitez looks to be in no hurry to commit to a club while the takeover saga plays out. He was linked with the Marseille job in midweek but a return to Newcastle under new, monied owners would be a dream ticket for the Spaniard.
  11. Unfortunately Yorkie what may be tedious to some is interesting to others, no one is forcing you to read it. Like it or not this bloke has a legal action pending with the PL, the PL will not want some information disclosed into the public domain, and thereby his action is a very real threat to them. So whether you think he is central to all this or a peripheral figure, any bits of info from someone in contact with buyer and seller is useful at this point. Keep it coming Whitley. This thread is for people like us who revel in the thought that “one day” we’ll be rid of this thief. People are welcome to have their own views on the subject but please don’t come in here and criticise the likes of Whitley and Manorpark for their updates. If you don’t like what they have to say, stay in the “takeover thread”.
  12. Some of us on here are(to coin a manor park phrase)waiting. The good times will come. Bring it on.
  13. Lee was only hated after he left us to go to Everton....He was a good manager whilst he was here.
  14. Sorry but I just don't get this post - in what world view is Steve Bruce's Newcastle not living up to every expectation that Ashley sets? Steve Bruce's job is the safest in the Premier League as long as Newcastle United are not in the bottom three. From Ashley's perspective, he's even better than Rafa. No illusions of ambition or growth, not a bad word said against the owners or the board or even mentioning their names. I've said it before, and will again - unless Newcastle United are in real danger of relegation, Steve Bruce is going absolutely nowhere. Much of my comment is pure guesswork and personal opinion. No one knows what is going on in Ashley’s mind, but I’d be very surprised if he isn’t at least a bit concerned with our position. Normally I’d agree with your perspective on Ashley and Bruce but these are not normal times. Ashley does want to sell, he wants to sell to PIF and Staveley/Reuben and I would hasten to suggest that he is concerned with our position in the league. Whether he has the nous to do anything about it, we’ll probably see if there is no movement on the takeover by the end of the month.
  15. Glad you’re back Whitley.....was a bit dicey on Wednesday.Thought i nearly joined you for a while. I’m still well in the positive mode and hope the next 3-4 weeks see’s us finally rid of the evil dynasty ?
  16. I know we’d like to think Ashley is an idiot but he isn’t. He might be a twat and he doesn’t give a toss about our club but he’s not an idiot. Got to disagree there. He is obviously a successful businessman but has little knowhow of how to run a football business. With a little more input and sound backing, the club could have been a regular top ten finisher with potential top 6.The club could have been worth twice as much as he is potentially selling it for. That's why the Monica "idiot" is very appropriate for his dealings as a Football Businessman.
  17. That would be a valid point if we didn’t know Ashley and his history of not caring at all about the club and always gambling we will have enough. I don’t think him not sacking Bruce has anything to do with a takeover being close, more that he is willing to risk it again because we aren’t in the bottom 3 yet so he doesn’t see us in major trouble and as a result saving himself money. That is very much Ashley’s way. I just think this time, he is a willing seller, and believes he and his Lawyers will win the argument with the PL. I remain positive but may have to review my optimism if nothing happens by early March and Bruce is still here.
  18. I know Ashley's an idiot, but even he must realise that with Bruce in charge, his £320 million business is looking very fragile...this is one reason why I'm still confident that a takeover will happen. He's not wasting any money sacking Bruce as he believes the takeover is going to happen and the problem then moves across to new owners to solve. If it's going to take a bit longer than February/early March, then see Ashley putting Graeme Jones in charge...A cheap way of keeping PL survival, in his opinion.
  19. As FIFA won't allow a European League, this is UEFA's answer...It guarantees "The Big 6" (I hate that inference) entry into a 36 club league every year. European league via the back door...
  20. We're a tiny piece of a jigsaw, the improving relations between SA + Q have very little to do with us beyond the beoutQ piracy. Reading that it makes it sound like they're only reaching an agreement to end the blockade because they want this takeover through which is a bit far-fetched personally. Wait until arbitration is finished and maybe the path becomes a little clearer Slight confusion on my behalf...meant to say a deal with BEIN...agree the improved relations between SA and QuAtar don’t have anything to do with our takeover...but relations with Bein definitely does.
  21. Mind you this plays right into the PL hands as PIF are supposed to be separate from SA Royalty, and any movement from SA may be seen as proof that PIF and SA royalty are not separate organisations.
  22. My fear is that both sides are waiting on each other to make the first move.SA want the PL to give some positive indication on the takeover before a deal with Quatar. On the other hand the PL want to see some movement from SA before any positive outcome. Cat and mouse......
  23. It’s going through arbitration nothing is going to be resolved until then. The Saudis and Qatar states have just mending relations, which are very complex to say the least. Just wait as most sources have been saying end of this month/March. The arbitration will be sorted by then, but, even then there may be a wait whilst we await confirmation of what league we’re in. According to Liam Kennedy latest I get the impression they are waiting around to see what develops in Saudi & Qatar. Arbitration hasn’t started yet Exactly my take on it as well. Bein don’t want to stir it with the PL with the hope of a deal with SA.
