  1. It's not a company from SA it's SA. The PL themselves described PIF as a company in SA like. whose chairman happens to be the crown prince of saudi arabia (and as far as I understand he's been making more and more decisions for the country the last few years) and its literally the public investment fund of saudi arabia how the hell can it not be considered an arm of the KSA goverment But what difference does it make if it's a company, the crown prince or the king himself! Just because bein is banned in SA, they can't own a PL club? Still a totaly different question. By blocking Bein, the value of the broadcasting rights just decreased considerably in the MENA region and they are fucking with a massive partner of the PL. Obviously the PL will take all that into consideration.
  2. Well sure, but companies in those countries have no "right" to buy the broadcasting rights in a way that suits them. PL decides how they want to sell it and then its up to you if you want to buy them or not.
  3. Feels clear enough that they dont give a shit how shady the buyers are or what kind of human rights violations they do. All they care about is money and their product (piracy).
  4. It was done a long time ago but isn't approved? Not sure how that works. It really isn't done like. It was done a long time ago, contracts exchanged, Ashley sold to the Reubens/PIF/Staveley, but the governing body of the sport needs to 'approve' the commercially already done deal, before our owners can play football in their league. That is why approval was always definite, as the PL cannot change history, but they are extracting as much as they can from the deal, while they have this period of 'leverage'. Nope it's pending PL approval
  5. Makes no sense unless they know/feel like this will drag on for a couple more months at least. Or isnt happening.
  6. According to Caulkin they’ve had an answer for everything so far, and so far it hasn’t been rejected. They’ve gone through all that just to fuck it up at the final hurdle and stop their country from viewing their new team. Ok, then. Didn't Caulkin also say the decision to block Bein from broadcasting in KSA wasn't something PIF were asking for or aware of? People making these decisions are the same who thought it was a smart idea to chop a journalist to pieces in an embassy. So let's not give them too much credit... No he didn’t. He said the uk side weren’t aware. Can’t remember members of pif giving the green light on the assassination. Which branch of pif is that in? I'm talking about the decision to block Bein. I dont think PIF was involved in that?

  8. As a not so know all, they wouldn't have known a country was going to pull out as Saudi Arabia have know, when they bought those rights. I bow to your superior knowledge in these things, just putting a suggestion out there. Pull out of what? Pull out of a deal made between Bein and PL? How? Someone earlier said Saudi Arabia had pulled of the Mena deal, no real idea if that was true but it was part of the nonsense conversation we were all having. Mena deal? Isn't that just an acronym for Middle East and North Africa? Are they joining Europe or South America? No idea, told you earlier I'm just one of the not so know alls, just discussing nonsense. You know more than me, read a back a couple of pages, the discussion and suggestions are there. We have to move our island 200miles away from France when we leave the EU. We’ve also been booted out of the Euro’s, European club competition and most sadly, Eurovision Song Contest. Christ. MENA isnt an union, it's a region.
  9. Yes they clearly have great plans and know exactly how to sort it out. No reason to worry. That's why its taken months for the deal to be confirmed. No issues at all with anything.

I bow to your superior knowledge in these things, just putting a suggestion out there. He hasn’t got any superior knowledge he’s just simplifying a complicated situation. There’s all sorts of things in play here bein have had to shed jobs, the premier league will have to rebate bein. I wouldn’t dismiss the notion Saudi strike deal with Bein via PL to attain rights for remainder of current deal. Which is exactly what I just said is the only (but unlikely) way out of this
  12. This isn't based on nowt. There's legal precedent. Don't be so dismissive... https://gulfbusiness.com/asian-football-body-afc-cancels-bein-sports-broadcast-rights-saudi/ That sounds like Bein not broadcasting Saudi teams while under obligation to do so by the deal? Not really comparable.

  14. Fucks sakes guys it's not rocket science. Why would anyone pay for the rights if a country under that deal can at any point just say "nah, dont fancy that, we'll make our own deal"
  15. Well sadly for them they cant as they dont own the rights and won't be able to buy them. You said 'there's no way a country can pull out of a deal they have no part in', that's clearly wrong. There's nothing to say SA have to allow Bein to broadcast in their country. That is absolutely not wrong. Just because they arent allowing Bein to broadcast doesnt mean their country still isnt part of the deal Bein has with PL. So can we start negotiating the rights for France then? Could Saudi Arabia link up with another country’s Tv rights and pay extra for doing that and then then Premier League can give that to BeIN? Only way Saudi Arabia will get any rights is if Bein renegotiate their contract with PL and give up KSA rights (for a nice sum of money obviously). This seems unlikely considering the company and the country involved.

No. Unlike you I just have a basic understanding of what broadcasting rights actually are.

  19. 1) Bein isnt in a trade war. 2) To me that sounds like the opposite of a loophole, it would be a loophole is Bein decided not to broadcast in KSA. There's no way a country can decide to pull out of deal they have no part in and start negotiating their own. First PL take a stand on piracy to protect the rights and then make a complete mockery of the rights by selling them twice to one country? Nope.
  20. Why are you all talking about countries owning the rights? They dont. Bein is a company that owns the rights to certain areas. The rights dont free up just because someone isnt allowing that company to broadcast in their country. Another matter is whether Premierleague have clauses in the contract that force the broadcasters to air x amount of games in all the countries they own the rights to. I'm guessing they do. So I doubt Bein could themselves decide to stop broadcasting without consulting PL or paying some sort of fines. But if SA block them, then what can they do.
  21. Why do you not go and support another club then, as the only thing I have seen you contribute on within the footballing part of the forum is the takeover and your anti-thoughts on it. Do you have to support the takeover to support the club now? That seems to be the consensus on here anyway. You don't have to. But if you feel that strong toward Saudi owned Newcastle, then the only logical thing for you if the takeover is approved is to stop supporting Newcastle. Sadly it kinda feels like a logical choice, it won't be the same. I just hope it won't go through, I know I'm in the minority and i understand people disagreeing with that. Being in favour of the takeover, and defending Saudi Arabia is two different things though. I can understand wanting the takeover, but people on here defending Saudi Arabia is just baffling in my honest opinion. They really are horrible. To be honest, based off the general tone and content of your posts, you have never seemed to recognise that distinction If that's the case I apologize. But people were smearing Khashoggi and his widow fiancee earlier in the thread, when you do and say that, it's way beyond just being in favour of the takeover. I realize that that's of course a minority on here, and I was unclear in my replies earlier, as to whom i was referring to. Playing devils advocate a tad here but as someone stated earlier in the thread, nobody knows for sure what Khashoggi was involved in or the full background of him and his now vocal fiancee. I don't think anyone's really daft enough to condone what happened to the guy but bearing in mind the involvement of both the Saudis and the Qataris I think it's relatively safe to assume neither party were/are whiter than white. From my point of view it comes down to which has an effect on me more in my day to day life and all I want is Mike Ashley out of my club and, if possible, a new owner with enough clout to potentially bring some success in my lifetime. Saudi bots got one I see.
  22. I know he's a weird fucker but surely that's sarcasm. Sarcasm from me or him ? Yes Exactly.
