  1. I agree. In November, you are correct. If he can't course correct pretty significantly by May, people might feel different.
  2. Fair enough. I'd like to think (naively or not) this ownership would be less dismissive of the fan view, and there is at a least a tacit consideration of fan sentiment. If that day comes - and it doesn't need to be nast/uglyy - I think it's fine for the mood music to change about whether Howe has fan backing for the long term.
  3. Not being sarcy, but if you become unconvinced he's the person to lead Newcastle to more than being a top half side, why would you continue to back him? My view is: Newcastle were hit for six with injuries last year. There's no such excuse for this season so far that holds water. The squad isn't perfect, find me one that is. He deserves until the end of the season to turn it around, but I wouldn't give him more money to spend in January. He's got enough to work with and show progress, otherwise we should be saving that money for the next dude. I understand the instinct to not be reactionary, and that Howe is a decent guy who brought stability and dignity - but I think we can be appreciative of his impact whilst recognising he might be not the guy to take us out of the congested middle of the pack.
  4. Only caught the final 20 minutes. Appears that Newcastle remain an unserious team. Quite weak defending set pieces too last few weeks.
  5. Hoping Barnes gets another run of starts. Don't think Tonali ever has started a run of four games in a row.
  6. Same old, same old with Howe. Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City - you'll see performances to be proud of most of the time. There's more Everton, Fulham and West Ham fixtures in the season though. Had hoped the Forest game was a turning-the-corner moment. Alas, two steps forward...
  7. West Ham have played well. Fair play. Completely handled Newcastle. What a missed opportunity this is, eh.
  8. Quite panicky after conceding. Lot of options on the bench. I'd personally bring Tonali on. A lot of attacking in straight lines, reckon Tonali can offer a bit more guile.
  9. Man Utd diving is insane Who rolls around that many times as a reaction to getting hurt? It doesn't even make sense unless the injury they suffered is a full body burn.
  10. Begrudgingly rooting for Southampton today.
  11. Reckon Spurs will regret stunting on them at the end tbh Might put a fiver on -4 Citeh on the reverse fixture, or next year if Citeh remain shite this year

    Alexander Isak

I'm not interested in selling him at all for any value If the club did eventually decide to do so however, I'd be more annoyed if the deal for his successor wasn't lined up contemporaneously (like Liverpool did with Torres/Carroll). Let's just not go there though. Get European football and pay the man.
  13. Pass to Gyokores was something. Tidy feet for his goal too.

  15. They're not IMO. I just think Newcastle were that good. Not saying they're a CL team, but they're decent.
  16. Shouldn't be an understated what a brilliant win AND performance that was against such a good side. Dominated the whole match, except when we chose not to - and came back from a goal down, conceded against the run of play. All on the road too. If this is the vision Howe is reaching for, I'm all for it. We played quite a few balls into their box which I'd describe as low probability given we don't have an old-style centre forward in the box, but I thought it made us more dangerous in a way. You can see why Forest are so effective. Really, really good on set pieces. Attacking and defending. (Which makes it more hilarious we scored from one!). That allows them to be overly-physical in the defensive third, and flop in the attacking third. Great performances across the board. Fun to watch again! (Even when a goal down).
  17. Be interesting to see if one or both teams sets up to counter attack.
  18. Next week is quite tasty. Liverpool vs Villa 4th Forest vs NUFC Chelsea vs Arsenal
  19. They've been more than decent for a good while IMO.
  20. Bournemouth at home are ridiculous
  21. Fantastic result and performance. Just great all round. The ball by Gordon and header by Isak were just insane quality. Pretty much undefendable. Feels like ages since we've scored a goal like that or been a threat from those areas. Probably one of my personal favourite types of goals. Livramento got a kicking on here over the past few weeks but showe his quality as usual. Absolute class fullback and still really young. Him and Hall are the future. Willock supporting Isak made such a difference. Desperately hope he can stay fit. Fair play to Longstaff deputising after Tonali played a lot of minutes recently. Did well for the most part. I think Tonali should be on set pieces from now on. His ddelvcer is unreal. Really hope we can carry this forward against non-top sides, which is where our performances seem to drop lately.
  22. Why didn't Bruno shoot? Anyway, good result. Up-and-down performance. Would be a bit apprehensive to draw too many conclusions (of any nature) from that mess, and given the opposition, but the one thing we know for sure is: OSULA NEEDS MORE MINUTES.
