Someone put it back. Must be an in-joke I missed.

I don't see the point in trying to appease fans with such a statement, when they act with impunity and fans continue to bankroll them regardless.

Three goals in the Champions League

Anyone join me on this? He's now the fav and odds are down to evens. Tried to, but my debit card had been cancelled and was in the process of being re-issued (/I was too lazy to leave my house). Was 12/1 on Betfair when I tried. How much do you have on?

You missed off Shola Like a new signing. I'm gonna be sure to remember to thank Mike when he works to get that one over the line.

It occurs to me that there's a very fine line between clearing out deadwood and liquidation. We're so short on numbers, it's incredible.

FFP rules state you can't make major losses two years in a row, so PSG/Chelsea have reached an agreement to alternatingly make a ridiculous profit/loss on the sale of Luiz between the two clubs every summer. [/completely made up]

So our first choice striker is currently Armstrong? Shola Cisse (injured) Remy De Jong Gouffran (playing left mid or left back)

Bye Shola. You da man. http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01863/Shola_Ameobi_1863497c.jpg

It should be something far more embarrassing than it is, certainly. The buck should never have been passed to the officials/footballing authorities (who are largely shite) to deal with it.

Let's just completely skip the part when I said 1% was just a number. Yes, you plucked the lowest integer above zero as your hypothetical number. That has no subtext, does it? Gimme a break man. You're a junkie who is so invested in the idea that it's okay to cheat to win as long as referees apply sanctions, that you can't handle an opposing viewpoint without being patronising. Junkie? Right, I'll leave it at that. I've said I accept the the other viewpoint as long as it's true. History tells me something else though, and I bet that the day we win something after we've cheated our way to the final, you'll be staying home while the rest will be joining in celebrations. Good on you. http://www.businessinsider.com/espn-brazil-world-cup-posters-2014-5 Couple cool posters there. You and me both know we'll never win anything. It's not as cut and dry as you've painted it IMO. If Saylor had another 'Saylor moment' next year in the 3rd round of the Cup next year, and we went on to win it (hold the bellylaughs), it's not like I'd recuse myself from being a fan and enjoying the tournament from the 3rd round onwards - the actions of one individual in one moment don't irrevocably taint the club's success, and it's perfectly possible to disapprove of poor sportsmanship but still want the team to do well/enjoy success. If it happens in the final, I'd be really ashamed though - and I'd say it spoiled the victory on the day, absolutely. Would the route to the final be retrospectively voided - absolutely not. I'd take pride in it. [This is all in some Pardewless-fantasy-land, obviously]. There are actually some things which are more important than winning to me. It's the same reason I didn't really enjoy the season we finished fifth. Style and sportsmanship are why I'm a football fan, otherwise in my head it's all actually really artless and facile.

Probably just us four in the UK, mind you. Rare congenital defect.
-
It's a shame, because a fifth laughing smiley would have convinced me my own opinion on sportsmanship is flawed. You're just so, so wrong. It's not some mythical 1%, Flip.

Pardew will get relegated without Sissoko.
-
I'd say it was more the reaction that followed that made him an arsehole in that situation. Still, the World Cup will be worse off without him. Yeah the reaction of leaving the pitch basically in tears until Gyan missed the penalty. I'm sorry, but had it been Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Sissoko, Alan Shearer everyone on here would be applauding it. Hypocritical as f***. (not aimed at you btw) Flip, you're missing the point. There truly is more of a culture of that sort of gamesmanship/cheating in Uruguay and, say, Argentina, than there is in the UK. Not to say it doesn't happen here, but you're calling us hypocrites by transferring your own beliefs onto us. I don't know how I'd react to an England player doing what Suarez did in that situation because, well, an England player hasn't done what he did, but I know for a fact that most fans on here don't share your opinion on cheating in football because we've had this argument before. There was a nice piece at the time of the handball which considered one argument - that Suarez should not be condemned because it was instinctive. The counterpoint was sure, his instinct was to cheat. Much as he instinctively pirouettes and screams under contact. I think you need to come to terms with the fact that a lot of English fans truly think that stuff is wrong. We really do. Leffe I don't buy it, sorry, but if it was your player doing it you'd be all lyrical. I'm not saying what Suarez did is right in the ethical sense, I'm just saying that what he did is what 99% of us would do ourselves or want our players to do in a situation like that. If some of you belong to that 1% then fair enough, you're better than most, but until you experience a situation like that and I see all of you being quite disgusted with qualifying and making petitions for you not to qualify as it's cheating I won't buy it. My soon 10 years on here I've seen a lot of decisions go our favour and us fans accepting it, many of these in meaningless Premier League games. Pretending like it's a cultural aspect rather than the fact that everyone wants to win at all costs is laughable. Steven Taylor did it and everyone found it profoundly embarrassing/disapproved. Leffe is spot on

Spectacularly wrong.

Who else would it be? Andy is also capable of such scathing cruelty.

Who gave me a custom title and when? Rich, you dick.

the lack of collective shits James Milner is buzzing, somewhere.
-
Will help squash any chances of qualification for the Europa through Fair Play, then.
-
Will he, Tron? I'm not sure. He doesn't have the aggression, and we don't have the service from out wide. Linking up play isn't really enough to warrant a starting berth spearheading an attack in this league. The difference between him and De Jong is fairly negligible IMO.
