  1. He's alright IMO - quite likeable, in fact.
  2. Becoming a right misery guts, similar to this time last year. Not that excited by even the prospect of new signings. Pardew can barely manage a first XI, let alone make good use of a fuller squad. I note that .com's post-match report seem to lay the blame of yesterday's defeat at the feet of there being little decent options beyond the first XI - suffice to say, I strongly disagree.
  3. Pardew's no fucking scapegoat and you don't need billions of pounds to have an honest go at trying to win something/entertain the fans (cf. Everton, Southampton, Swansea) - you may fall short or be swept aside by a Man City/Chelsea, but at least you gave it a shot. The club also doesn't need to accept as immutable that we don't have the right talent coming through the youth system. Think the West Brom game "upset" me more than today - confirmation that Pardew is incapable of change, pretty much. I made no effort to watch today's game and don't think I will break a neck to for the foreseeable future. Waste of my time watching us try to stay in the league and no more.
  4. Airport photos "Dude, stand there - I'll pretend I'm taking a photo of your shoulder meeting your back fat, he won't notice a thing"
  5. Right in the breadbasket!!.... ...if Clatternburg was his dad.
  6. I shouldn't watch the game because I don't advocate everything our players do? Nah, I'm alright thanks Man, that Uruguay-Ghana match was unbelievable. I really think the ref should be given judicial powers to let a goal stand in such clearcut circumstances.
  7. I think it ranks alongside Suarez handballing Gyan's effort in the World Cup, then going through on penalties as a consequence. It's the "do anything to win" mentality, which in theory is fine and admirable - but to be so thoroughly unsporting in the means of pursuing victory is unquestionably cunty and NOT something I'd want a Newcastle player to do - even if it meant losing a cup. If you don't confine the "give it your all" to sporting behaviour, there's no limit to how stupid you can get. Suarez sneaking a shiv onto the pitch in the World Cup, and shanking all of England's first XI on 70 minutes - taking the red card, but allowing the remainder of his team to face stabbed players for the remaining 20 minutes. You can't just clean someone out because you want to win. It's petulant and cunty.
  8. I'm not convinced at all. His movement is still really bad. He's young and strong, but his fitness does not appear to be the best. Sad to hear about Pienaar - was class with Baines on the left not so long ago. Hopefully just a dip in form.
  9. Every single transfer window, people say this. We know what his 'ambition' for the club is. The mantra of "40 points" seeping out of the club through multiple sources as we careered beyond 30 points in December tells you everything you need to know about our objectives.
  10. Who scored the most goals, who conceded the least goals, virtual toin coss - in that order.
  11. Why doesn't Sagna just cut his hair?
  12. Another three games until Rooney claims they're title contenders again.
  13. Daft tackle but I still think he's brilliant. He's given us a right flank to speak of, for the first time since the Ronaldo was still thin (probably). Forgiven if he comes back and plays the same way as he lately
  14. The old chestnut about him being the second longest-serving manager in the Premiership is supposed to reflect well on our progress as a club and how we've put all our off-field instability aside, but for me it's just an incriminating reminder of how bad he is. I think we have a very exciting first XI, and a fair bit of depth below it - not too dissimilar to Everton, but just look at the difference. Years on from him taking the reigns I'm still so thoroughly bored when watching the team (except if we're facing a Man Utd/Chelsea - but even Gus Poyet and Paulo di Canio had that down with the mackems after about a week on the job). I'm just so deflated about the club's decision not to make a change in the summer. It was a real chance. This season of dull midtable mediocrity will be viewed as some kind of redemption for Pardew rather than the lowest acceptable watermark for where we should be with the squad. Will probably be at least another season or so before we consider a change, unless we hit get a glut of injuries in the second half of the season and Pardew's one-page pamphlet of tactics becomes redundant. Shola Ameobi over Hatem Ben Arfa, man. On a regular fucking basis. Break that down in your head and you know we're going nowhere fast, or slow - for that matter.
  15. The sending off was deserved. Yeah, nothing dubious about it in the slightest for me.
  16. Such a joyless experience watching us play, even if we're 1 or 2 up. Find myself clock-watching to see when I can get on with my day far too often.
