This felt a bit like the Brazil Vs Germany semi-final. What should have been reasonably competitive was an absolute can't-take-your-eyes-off-it honking.

Wow. What a half. That fourth goal was insane. Stuff of dreams. Murphy shooting and scoring from that range was emblematic of the whole half.

Big picture this is good anyway. If we won every game until the end of the season, we might not replace the likes of Burn and Murphy in the summer. Need a few of these, while securing third or fourth.

Positive is that's about as bad as that side is capable of playing and it's only 1-0. Gordon has the heart of a pea in that half. No workrate. He's British so I expect him to get an easier ride than ASM would. NUFC playing way too direct. Every midfielder is trying to spray the killer ball forward from inside our own centre circle like they're Steven Gerrard on coke or something. Hopefully a new plan after the half. Villa should be out of sight.

Villa's style of play won't translate well when teams sit deep against them.

He's looked really tidy and has a bit of pace IMO. You can see he's desperate for a goal to feel settled in and part of it, rather than a passenger (and I don't think he has been, he's contributed well, but he may feel without it, his price tag looms large).

Probably my favourite "neutral" game of the season, that. Arsenal wilted a little bit when Liverpool got a bit physical, and got knocked out of playing the game on their terms. Martinelli is a bit frustrating. Incredible close ball control skills but seems to try to do a bit too much and not release the ball. A criticism sometimes levelled at ASM. Great football and drama though. Saka is an absolute superstar.

Agree. This is why the Mitrovic ban feels so silly. If you're going to say referees have to be respected, then don't let four or five players scream in their faces with no consequence.

This period of time definitely has the feeling of being the future "good old days". Not because we will be shit in the future, but because it's still slightly shocking and exhilarating that NUFC is this good - and capable of scoring three goals (including the disallowed one) in a spell of great play and blow a decent side off the park away from home. In the future, it could be trite - and there'll be moans in some quarters at single-goal victories. Anything less than perfection, once expectations are raised will be lambasted. This feels like pressure-free good times. Not competing for silverware but playing attacking football, carefree enough to try and score at 2-1 on the break rather than take it into the corner.

My river is behind, I was going to post it's a lot more even game than the score suggests. Although, now the score is about right. Poor game management since 2 up.
