Swansea's defensive record this season is not luck. They've modified the 'attack is the best form of defence' model to 'possession is the best form of defence'. Works very well for them too. They won't foray forward too quickly with the ball, so they won't score bucket loads either. Edit: And obviously Vorm has been in great shot-stopping form.

The whole season. Ouch. Don't rate Lucas as highly as everyone else, mind you. He's impressed in midfield for Liverpool the same way that Ridgewell/Johnson/Dann impressed in the Brum defence IMO. Part of a a very industrious and defence-minded side with a fantastic (bastard) in Suarez up front.

I'd hope so too, but skeptical and don't call me Shirley It would be quite nice to phase him into the league in a midfield slot (where any errors won't prove quite as costly), but given his lack of cameos off the bench I don't think he's even in the running in Pardew's mind.
