Well that's a new one on me.

They pay us £20m over three years and we only pay up front. So we have £7m for a new striker. And thats before agent fees and wages. Don't forget the other £13m magically disappears, as well as the remaining contract years budgeted into his acquistion in the first place.

This. I mean clearly I want him to stay, but my respect for him would if anything increase if he just turned tail and walked away, sticking 2 fingers up at this regime in the process. Some parting jab such as "It has become clear that what I believe this club can be, and what the owner wants it to be, are not aligned" would do nicely.

Borussia, Borussia, same difference

Should rename this thread to The League One thread, don't see why one club from that league deserves a thread of their own.

Same view here, would like to see a fit AC, Shelvey and in years gone by, Defoe would have been in pretty much every squad. He was horrendously underused.
-
Past caring about fees received, it wouldn't make any difference if we'd received £5m or £50m.

Thanks for the corrections, did my best to rustle up what I could. I think my points still stand though.

This was his goals record in 2015/2016 : August 1 vs Southampton at home - 2-2 draw, scored to make us 2-1 up then we conceded (Televised 1.30pm kickoff) September 1 vs Chelsea at home - 2-2 draw, scored to make us 2-0 up then we conceded 2 (Televised 5.30pm kickoff) October 4 vs Norwhich - 6-2 win, rout of a team that played completely kamikaze football (Televised 4.00pm kickoff) December 1 vs Liverpool - 2-0 win, second goal scored in injury time of the second half (Televised 4.00pm kickoff) January 1 vs Manchester United - 3-3 draw, scored the first goal of a 0-3 to 3-3 comeback (Televised 7.45pm kickoff) 1 vs West Ham United - 2-1 win, scored the second to put us 2-0 up before they got one back (Not televised) May 2 vs Tottenham Hotspur - 5-1 win, scored the first and a penalty against a team already on holiday (Not televised?) I don't see how you can analyse the above in any way apart from that he turned up when we were on TV so he got showcase his 'talents'. At best his goals counted for 5 points - the 2 draws at the start of the season, and what ended up being the winning goal vs West Ham. He only scored one of his 11 goals when we were already down, and that was against Manchester United everyone thought it was a lost cause at 0-3. Assists? Shelvey and Mitro both had 5 too, he was hardly the team's sole creative outlet. He couldn't be bothered to raise his game and put 10% more in for one of the best managers we've had in the last 30 years. Why anyone would want him back after seeing him 'perform' in a black and white shirt already is mind boggling. The purest definition of a player treating a club as a stepping stone as I've ever seen, he really did not care at all and we could have done without him for another player that may have actually done more for us in terms of points won than individual goals records scored when it didn't matter.

Wouldn't even have him on a free.
-
Imagine if he’d ended up on the end of that cross, man? The logical conclusion is we'd lose to Brazil this Sunday.
-
As usual there's absolutely no prospect of us bringing anyone in first of course (Ki hardly counts on a free), you know, to ensure we sort our own problems out. We're more than happy to risk ending up short-handed rather than having to overspend on wages for a bit. If that puts us at risk of relegation, ruins the prospect of a progressive season and pisses off the manager then so be it. Dubravka before any of our keepers went? I know we probably had a deadline but still, they are not anal to the point of self annihilation. Pretty close mind.

Considering 90%+ of Robert's goals for us were Free Kicks / out the box, he must be up there too I would have thought?
-
Piqué's missus should leave him for Shaquiri.

Don't think anyone's noticed yet sbnufc

I genuinely don't comprehend the dislike of Townsend for leaving. He wanted to play PL football, owed us nothing and he would have hardly been the expert on Pardew that we all were. Would love him back, one of the best wingers we've had in a long while, even if was only for a few months. Kenedy and Townsend would be great.
