  1. Is he any good? Quick somebody check out Fox's wikipedia page. [And update it while you're at it.]
  2. jonas rubbish? are you sure? Seriously Lovejoy, the kid has zero end product and it was painfully obvious today. you have to remember he was playing on the wrong side though. i think he was on the left to compensate for enriques short comings defensively, which i thought he did very well. But Jonas has been on the left our last four games or so. He plays on the left for Argentina and did for Mallorca as well. Also, Keegan played Jonas on the left as well (the Man Utd an.d Bolton games). edit: agreeing with madras, enrique and jonas have worked well together the past couple of games.
  3. Bassong was absolutely incredible today. There were a few games earlier this season when I felt that some were going overboard about him-- really, he wasn't that good. But today he was.
  4. Of course they are. You don't think KingDawson went and researched the FA rules himself, do you? Funny guy. Actually they are discussing it on the spurs forum and it's only 10 posts long because it's such a non issue AND i actually got one of the rules i posted on the FA website (it wasn't posted on the spurs board). It's best not to assume something without facts. Yes, but. This is newcastle-online, and we've got some people who are really obsessed with Spurs. Ten posts!
  5. St. Etienne should've had a penalty there. Same old Boumsong. Kicking players over in the box. gets away with it now that he plays for Lyon.
  6. Gomis has been a bit anonymous. But St. Etienne are dreadful. Should be available when they go down. But then Boumsong is a rock, a rock I tell you for Lyon.
  7. Hasn't Jonas played primarily on the right? That was my thought. I checked football-lineups and they show him starting almost exclusively on the right for us. But I think he's moved to the left in recent games-- Man City and today. He and Enrique work well together. Edit: the Guardian chalkboard gadget shows Jonas on the left in each game subsequent to the Liverpool fiasco.
  8. We really need to stick with him. We've seen a lot of players coming over from Spain or France and they've just wilted and sulked. Enrique has fought his way into the lineup. Allardyce, Keegan, and then Kinnear all handed the left back slot to another player...whether this was a lack of confidence in Enrique or an overestimation of N'Zogbia's abilities, I don't know. But Enrique has demonstrated that cares enough about the club or, perhaps just his profession, to work hard. He has good games and not so good games, but all this talk about our desperately needing a left back is wrongheaded. Our back line is thin to be sure, but that is the least of our problems. Let's get in a quality striker, some creativity in midfield, a replacement for Duff, then we can talk about improvement at LB. I think that some of the criticisms of Enrique from the start had little to do with actually watching his game than just apeing what other journalists had written. It seemed to me from the start that a certain journalist-- at the Guardian-- repeatedly disparaged Enrique or talked about the club looking to replace him because (1) she [oh, the games up] wanted him to fail; (2) was too lazy to actually objectively watch him play; (3) needed to pad out her weekly rants and so adding a piece of boilerplate about our "6m bust". Everybody is so accustomed to NUFC defenders being jokes and our buys from Europe being busts that he was too easily written off IMO. Yeah, his passing needs improving. But I think that it has improved. Anyway, I'm a fan.
  9. Goes without saying, exactly the opposite of Insomnia. I think we could expect the same from Enrique as well. He's no quitter either.
  10. I have pretty mixed feelings about this. Sure, I'm pissed off at Zoggy. At his attitude. And lack of effort. Really, I've grown to despise the kid. But then, he's what 22 and he's seen how many managers in his brief time here? Someone said six. Six fucking managers. Has it really been that awful since Robson left. Well, yes it has. And pretty much that is all he has seen and all he knows. So if the clueless fuck thinks that Wigan are more ambitious than Nufc, well he's entitled to his opinion. But the fact that you see Given leaving gives me pause. He too has had enough. He apparently doesn't believe that the club has any ambition. And Ashley couldn't convince him otherwise. But I hate N'Zogbia mostly because he didn't deliver on his promise. No, he didn't earn his place in the starting 11. I hated him at left back. And I for one was always happier with Duff starting on the wing-- and I suppose I'm in the minority there. Despite the occasional and increasingly rare flashes of brilliance Zoggy's body language and actions showed through. He didn't give a shit.
  11. I think Duff will start up top. Unless... God, I hope Oba can play.
  12. Mr. Ashley, Your arrogance is beyond measure-- surpassed only by your incompetence. You fully deserve to see your "investment" relegated and be forced to sell the club at a huge loss. And that's the fate I would hope for had you bought any other club. Fuck off
  13. sunderland are gonna f***ing kill us Like Owen's been any useful in last 10 matches! Actually I'm glad that he's off now...we should sell him ASAP and get rid of his huge wage Was Martins supposed to be back? Were a different team when he plays.
  14. Eh? Oh fuck off. Duff is the reason we look much better this half.
  15. This performance is just awful. Worse than the Sou Worse than the Souness team.
