  1. Where was this link? Haven't heard a peep about him since the Euros.
  2. Wtf is up with Canada drawing with Guatemala and Guadeloupe? They playing kids or something?
  3. Absolutely. Racists (the ideological ones) have love to troll. They like to act innocent and play the victim because they know it riles people up. Sartre wrote some interesting observations on the arguments of anti-Semites who argue in “bad faith”. There is no talking to those people, you are just wasting your breath and they’ll take pleasure in trying to wind you up. But there are people who say or repeat racist things or think in racist ways who are not committed to that world view. And they can be talked and will to reason, and will change their behavior. From my own experience, I have thoughtlessly said and thought all kind of racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, classist, ageist, etc. BS in my life, until someone (a friend or stranger) called me out on it - and I thought about it, and changed.
  4. Couldn’t disagree more. But, opinions
  5. Ok. My context is the US. I heard too many people -- white people (especially of my parents) generation manifest this contraction. When they deny that the are a racist, they are denying that thay ideological racists. They are not racists by conviction. So in that sense, they are not racists. But they are racists in their attitudes and language and many other ways -- but they haven't had to think about racism because it has never had any effect in them. They completely unaware if their own racism. And the don't want or can't be bothered to think about it. (not joining the klan is enough for them to absolve themselves )
  6. I don’t think that’s contradictory or particularly confusing. The term racism can be used to identify a number of different things, from tribal impulses, to cultural biases, historic grievances, to outright racist convictions that are the foundation of an ideology. I think that racism and the term “racism” is fuzzier than anything Kaka just stated.
  7. I can see that. I wonder how many different factors are being weighed. For example, how ASM or Miggy is perceived by the other players off the pitch. ASM offers something really special when he’s on his game, but it seemed like he only showed it when he was up against the big sides. Still we have more options there: Isak, JoeLinton, Gordon and ASM would bring in more cash. Best case, we don’t sell either. but if we need to sell to bring in someone like Diaby, Chiesa, or whomever the club has identified as an improvement, we should.
  8. He wasn’t a world beater. If they had signed a player that lived up to the hype, they wouldn’t have finished 5th.
  9. Not a popular opinion, but I think that RW is the position that we need to improve the most and, if we need to sell Miggy to finance that, we should. Miggy will never have a higher sale price and Murphy won't bring anything in terms of sales-- though he is a good squad player.
  10. Except for the bit about avoiding relegation. He did the job he was asked to do.

  12. Hope West Ham spend it well.
  13. The argument for Maddison is that we need to have creativity in midfield to unlock defenses that sit deep. We dropped too many points to sides that sat back and dared us to break them down. should have the versatility to play different formations to tackle different opponents. I was absolutely convinced that we needed Maddison up to the WC, but watching LC the second half of last season makes me think that we should look elsewhere.
  14. We stayed up and got £15m for him. Resounding success.
  15. Offer £25m and Ashby in loan.
  16. Soured on Maddison over the course of last season. No fight in either him or Tielemans. Maddison will fit right in at Spurs.
  17. Surely, if we're looking to buy four high-quality players, there will be some sales as well. Couldn't see decent fees for much beyond ASM. The Shelvey and Wood sales were encouraging -- but I don't think Forest will take any more calls from Dan Ashworth. Maybe Targett?
  18. Really depends on the window. I'd imagine that Arsenal, Man Utd, and Liverpool will buy and be much better. Chelsea and Villa as well, probably. Doesn't look good for Spurs IMO. Who knows if Brighton will continue to turn up gems. We'll be OK provided we have decent depth in the backline. If Schar, or Botman go down injured we're in trouble.
  19. If we do this how are ever going to be able to afford McTominay?

Reposting Walsh is particularly disturbing. Best case scenario, he’s ignorant or naive. Just not paying attention. (Too many bigots just naturally slide their way into supporting fascism. They love the homophobia, stick around for the Putinism. fuckers. Sorry for the politics. too much Twitter today.

Previous post before I saw the crap. Bigots can piss off. (Don’t want McTominay under any circumstances though)
