How would you rate our January 2023 Transfer Window?

This is right. I rated the window a 4 because some rivals for the top 4 noticeably improved, while we did not. I was hoping for another signature signing (Bruno-level) that would push the club on to the CL. Negatives * Not convinced about Gordon in the short term * We’re now short in central midfield. No replacement for Shelvey. * Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United did well. * Fraser still around. Positives * Signed prospects for the future * Gordon’s game is suited to our style of play * Removed older players who are on high wages * Brighton, Liverpool standing still. Man City worse off -
He missed out on a gag. Should’ve turned to the Southampton players as he went off and waved them goodbye.

So Fraser apparently wasn’t dealt to Hull City. Not sure why he has been frozen out of the side. He did very well last season, and now he’s gone. I was looking for him in the team photo, but I don’t see him. Darlow and Shelvey are there. Read somewhere that Chris Wood at the game. It’s a bit odd and disappointing. Was hoping he would get a move if that’s what he wanted. Any thoughts, info?

2 - 0 ASM, Joelinton -
C Could paradoxically be good for us given that the first games are against relatively weak opposition. Will force Howe to return Joelinton to midfield and play ASM (or Gordon) in the front three. If Gordon doesn’t start expedite his inclusion as a 60 minute sub for Miggy— more like for like than Murphy. Once Howe has broken up the starting 11 maybe he’ll be more willing to start Isak. Wilson’s hold up play would be useful later in the game. The main thing for me is getting ASM and Isak sharp, and integrating Gordon as quickly as possible.

Hull. So he is going down south after all.
-
He did an admirable job at Burnley. Comparable the job that Howe did with Bournemouth. Neither failed upwards IMO. (Situation is quite similar. Except Everton is skint. Dyche won’t get a Bruno, won’t even get a Chris Wood.)
-
WH didn’t even play the kid in the Carabao Cup. No wonder he wants out. Thanks Moyesy.
-
I looked this up earlier. You may be right. Worth the risk, if they get a slap on the wrist. Anything more punitive and they take it to court. (Where they will win.)
-
Notts Forest.

Yes, that’s my feeling as well. I think Burn/Botman or Schar/Burn isn’t an absolute disaster, but we don’t have Targett. So then that’s Lewis in. If Trippier goes down it’s Ashby or Manquillo. Think we could/would drop from the top 4. Losing Bruno would be an absolute disaster. That could see us drop from top 6, in my opinion.

Yes, it’s one of many problems. The other team (most small market teams) cannot compete. Each team makes their own TV contracts for 162 games. There is no promotion/relegation. Those small market clubs are just there to make up the numbers. No reason for fans to care one way or another.

He must mean in regards to a club jerking us around with no intention to sell. Surely.

American owners. Employees are pieces of meat.

The ESL 6 already have a secret pact to fuck over NUFC. Gallagher won’t go to Everton (and they won’t sell Gallagher to NUFC), so they need to sell Jorginho to Arsenal?
-
More than Longstaff certainly. IMO.
-
I think I overrated Vieira’s management skills based on Gallagher’s performance last season. They got some results last year that they really shouldn’t have got. Obviously, if Maddison is available for 10 million more, I’d want Maddison now. But I can’t believe Leicester City will sell. I’m sure they’d love to shift Tielemans though.
-
Leceister City aren’t going to sell Maddison now. The risk is too great. That’s some monumental incompetence if they do.
-
They’ll 11 behind the ball. We’ll need creativity to break those teams down.
-
Gallagher is a Longstaff upgrade. He’ll score those goals that Longstaff is missing. Maddison is a different level and plays a different role.
-
I watched a few videos from last summer when he was linked to Chelsea, and there was talk about him playing as a wing back as well. Potentially playing as a wing back.
-
Chelsea won’t deal with their rivals for top four (i.e. NUFC), but they’ll sell to Arsenal.
