People getting robbed already down Saffa way. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/feedarticle/9100740 JOHANNESBURG, May 28 (Reuters) - Police arrested two hotel workers on charges of stealing from Colombia's national soccer team, in South Africa for a friendly match ahead of next month's World Cup, the Times newspaper reported on Friday. "Two female employees of the plush Hyde Park Southern Sun Hotel, in northern Johannesburg, were arrested and appeared in court...charged with stealing 21,000 rand ($2,743) worth of U.S. dollars from members of the team on Monday," the national newspaper said. Security and crime have been major issues ahead of the World Cup because of South Africa's high rate of violent crime. Crime is among the factors blamed for lower-than-expected foreign bookings to attend the tournament. The Times said the women had allegedly stolen the cash from the Colombian team's suitcases at the hotel, which will host Slovenia's World Cup squad due from June 8. The accused appeared in court on Thursday but were not asked to plead. In June last year Egypt's soccer team said some players had had their hotel rooms burgled and wallets stolen during the Confederations Cup tournament in South Africa.

I agree with all but the Roy Hodgson think that he says like.

Hard to fathom what sort of system Man City are going to play next year. Aside from Johnson, SWP (who is shite) and at a push Bellamy they have no width at all and they are rarely linked with any wide players. Unless he is going to try and implement an Inter style system with no real wide men.
-
But who's fault is that. I really liked JDT too, he was a good player, as he proved on leaving us, but it is the manager who tells people where to play not the player. If Dalglish rated him why did he sell him the following summer when Shearer was back for him to play alongside?

A suprisingly good statement from the club for once. Mail should be banned full stop not just from SJP.

I am missing the point? He obviously had to sell them while they were worth money(we sold £18m worth by 31 July) , wonder who pushed that idea through? These 'aging players' were Beardsly & Ginola(necessary sales) and Ferdinand who was good business in all honesty. At what point were Ginola(poor season) and Beardsley(36) doing a decent job? Was Barnes better than Beardsley? Was Rush needed at all? Did Lee Clark need selling at all? I'm sure we couldv'e managed without the 450k raised by selling Pedro. Selling Asprilla in Jan only made a bad situation worse n all.

Exactly my sentiments as well.

He lost a 20+ goal a season striker the same(?) day he sold Ferdinand causing Tomasson who had a bright start in pre season to completely change his game on the eve of a season to fill in for him. Some may say luck was a factor Yeh, losing a 20+ goal a season striker is unlucky. Selling one wasn't. Selling a player that then went on to win the PFA player of the year isn't unlucky. Bringing in Rush, Barnes, and Pearce isnt unlucky. The only position he improved was goalkeeper. That's half the story too. We didn't turn from into an attacking team, into a defensive team. We turned from an attacking team into one that couldn't attack or defend. Ferdinand suffered horribly from injuries in his time with Spuds, just after the move, he barely played, he'll certainly not go down in history as one of Spud's all time greats, getting 6 million quid for hiom at his age was great business. Ginola had no interest at all in playing for Dalglish, that was clear, the two just didn't get along, he had to sell him, Ginola did win the player of the year at Spuds, but still didn't turn that team into contenders. As for the Rush, Barnes, Pearce thing that always gets thrown about here. We needed to replace the players that had gone or were injured, these were stop gap signings nothing more. Rush didn't cost us a lot, and I could understand the logic in bringing him in, someone KD knew and someone who could maybe fill a hole while we wait for Shearer to return. It didn't work out, but we hadn't spent much. Pearce was still a decent left back even at his age, but above all he was a leader that the defence needed, he did not do too bad in his time with us. Barnes was actually one of our better players that year, anyone who suggests that was a bad signing is way off base, he played well and scored some very important goals. I'm not suggesting that KD's failure was purely down to bad luck, there were still some problems of course, as someone else said, he really didn't address the backline, some of his signings were very poor G'uivarch, Andersson, Des Hamilton, etc but he also had some notable successes in the market with Solano , Speed, Hamman and Given. I just think he should have been given more time to get it right, perhaps he would have still failed but shephard was way too quick on the trigger and the crowd were too impatient to, certainly his succesor was no upgrade that's for sure. Speed was toss until SBR took over.

Dalglish was always going to fail in one way or another as he could've never bettered KK in the fans eyes not that that is any excuse to the way we changed so rapidly. When he came in IIRC he kept pretty much the same time and we went on to finish second again, that should've been a pointer that not much needed changing, instead he changed far too much instead of buying a couple of decent defenders which at the time was probably all we needed to stay where we were. There were times in 97/98 we had Barnes up top by himself, criminal.

He has the generic Argentinian look down to a tee to be fair to him.
-
any good? I read he was in the preliminary squad. Seems to playing some low down club in the Greek league these days, Leviakos or something.
-
Can't imagine he'll keep that record for long with Forlan only being a few behind him and Suarez likely to have at least 10 years left at the top unless he gets injury problems. Hope Uruguay do well. Was in Montevideo when they qualified so they're my second team internationally as it was good to join in the celebrations plus it was suprisingly nice country with very friendly people.

Aye I'm gonna give them a watch for a bit (longer if it's canny). Currently got an Alexis Sanchez sticker on my door so I reckon he'll do well. Bam Bam to get all 26 in a comprehensive Chile victory, hopeful. Man, Zamorano. I was only 8/9 when he left Inter, but I remember liking him so he's one of the main reasons when I really got into football about '03 I adopted Inter as my Italian team. Aye he is a hero of mine too - hence the avatar. Remember him belting out the Chilean national anthem in France 98 and him and Salas destroying England the same year. Think when he was at Madrid it was the first shirt i ever got with a name on the back of it too when i were a nipper. Brilliant all round striker who if he'd moved probably would've very effective in the Premiership. Keep your eyes peeled for a young Willem Dafoe lookalike too.

Thank you but I would be happy if you motivate your answer. Why will Jovanovic play left wing? Why will Sestak play striker? And why will Jonás play wing back? A to big gamble from Maradona I think. And will Robinho really play? Maradona is mental and so you can't really second guess him but he has a boatload of central defenders in the squad and played that way in a recent friendly v Canada and it worked and he usually keeps things if they work no matter the opposition. Jovanovic plays LF for his club IIRC but the one time i've seen Serbia play Pantelic and Zigic were a front too and he was LW. Robinho gives Brazil the pace they lack and has done alright for them despite his shitness for City, done ok at Santos though. Dunga won't change much if anything from how they played in the Quals where i believe he started most games. Sestak I don't know enough about to talk at in any depth.

Shock double transfer for Vucinic and Jovetic would be nice.

Costa Rica just hit the bar.

Mandanda nearly fucking up there - don't rate him in the slightest. Is this being played at Lens? I recognise the stadium but not sure where it is.
-
Was on loan there for the last few weeks of the season.

Tell the story. Surely you know about Graeme Rix? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Graeme+Rix I had no idea... I remember us belting out a ditty about that at Wembley at the semi final as he walked round the cinder track pre second half.

he is just non stop entertainment this man. More than enough space to fit everyone in on the Av. 9 de Julio who'd want to watch it n all. http://www.mostinterestingfacts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/widest-street-in-the-world-9-de-Julio-Avenue-from-top.jpg

By Premier League standards aye, which is my main worry, however, he can find a position to score. Just has to be seen if he can do it in a league better than League 1/Championship quality. Having no pace makes us very easy to defend against, teams can push up and squeeze us in the middle of the park where we have poor quality ball players and thus we lose the ball easily. Happened a lot in the season we went down. Only really Routledge and at a push Jonas with any pace in what i'd imagine our starting XI to be next season. Are people's opinions that Lovenkrands is too much of a gamble up front in the Premiership? I would rather he played than we signed Boyd tbh. I'd keep him but I'd buy an equivilant replacement, someone nippy with pace in behind etc. Lovenkrands all round game & finishing isn't up to it in my opinion to be a regular starter in the Premiership.
-
Thing is, if he flops it's likely to cost us our Premiership status. One player will not cost us our Premier Leage status, it will take a whole team effort. Hes not my first choice striker as I think we need someone a wee bit nippier, but he has proven where he has played he can be prolific. The only reason he is leaving Ranger is because they cannot afford him, as they have a lot of players on their books. He is one of the Rangers players who has been held in high self esteem and like them when he moves on, whoever it is, I hope he can just be as good as them. I mean the likes of Charlie Adams and Alan Hutton..... Charlie Adam who has yet to play in the Premiership and Alan Hutton who has been indifferent at Spurs you mean?
