  1. Small problem, there are no people for miles around either. 498,800 people live in Cumbria according to Wiki so thats a canny few. 105,200 in Carlisle (205,000) so there is potential. At least to be a strong Championship team. One problem would be my immediate dislike of Cumbrian folk though so i'd have to be a chairman who operates from the carribean or some bollox.
  2. If your thinkin of fanbas always thought Carlisle would be a good option as theres no team for miles around bar Gretna. Other than that Bristol City are a big club in the making if they could get it right, same with Rovers.
  3. bit of a short arse n all, already got 2 players vying for the short arse striker role (Owen/Oba)
  4. Definately, although i don't know much about land value but I'm guessing the land that Upton is built on is worth a fair whack, i still wouldnt be suprised to see WHU play at the Olympic Stadium and sell off Upton Park.
  5. He's a good player, but a expensive one i would believe....Not our priority atm going for a AM (But if emre left as u said) I was just jumping on the pick a player bandwagon he would be my first chocie of any attacking midfelder we looked at, such a class act and will end up leaving them soon enough along with Klose. would be amazed if he ever comes to Prem, looks ideal for La Liga.
  6. Will you balls would be my immediate reaction

    Who would you buy?

LB-Paul Konchesky (worth a punt) RB-Luke Young (Worst game by a RB ive ever seen against Liverpool, but still worth a punt i suppose, trade with carr) CM-Youssi Benayoun (inconstant, dont need him and his position) CF-James Beattie (No more than £3m, worth a punt) Cf-Ashley Young (Rejecting bids of £5m, plus he is a right winger, we dont need him) Konchesky is worth a look at. Curbs sold him from Charlton and may now find himself pushed out as the two never got on. WHU didn't pay a massive fee, maybe a swap for Babayaro to keep costs down would be worth a look. Same for Young. Charlton fans are not happy with him, he's lost interest and we could for the right price he could move. However, nothing more than £3m for numerous reasons, maybe throw Carr in as well Beattie is about the best striker we can get for the £3m mark without taking a punt abroad. I reckon he'd redouble his efforts if he came here, and relaunch his career, but its a risk, but one worth taking imo. If the club came out with these three before the window closes, i'd be quite happy. Although i think there are better options about for the fullback positions, we neither have the money, nor the talent to broker the deals needed to secure the players, so maybe with WHU & Charlton in unsecure positions, we could take some advantage over them. Quoted for this man talking sense. My thoughts exactly. aye likewise, only problem is he is a form player - either good or bad, he tends not to have a steady average. Decent pen taker too which could be a bonus
  8. Harry Redknapp certainly loves his Africans

    Team V Brum

nee chance of Luque playing i don't think
  10. I'd be happy with a draw, although it would involve an added replay which we could do without, so id like to see us play full out for the win. However i hold little hope for us getting a win as Brum are strong, with a strong first XI, but if Bruce was a real fan he'd sack it off and play the ressies. Pitch is like a landmine site n all so will be longball tactics employed thus meaning i'd play a tall team.
  11. The Times today also mentioned that we are looking at signing James Beattie. I think he would be good if available on the cheap (providing he can get his form back from a season or two ago of course). In the same paper, Given has also urged Roeder to sign players soon, preferably this week to avoid them being cup-tied at the weekend. Don't think that'll matter tbh
  12. agree with this man but without the fire and axe
  13. same...despite having him on the back on me shirt

  20. James M.Richards Vidic Gallas Matt Taylor Diouf Essien Barton Ronaldo Drogba Kanu
  21. Just back from the match and my observations: Played the wrong formation - shuda gone 4-4-2 and played as Everton did at them at the weekend, didnt look at all like scoring in the 2nd half, almost like we were playing for the nil nil Defence was good - Ramage and Taylor looked good until we were chasing the game, Ramage in particular stands out Huntington isnt upto it - at the moment anyways, i know he was out of position etc but his general footballing ability looks limited, a la Ramage but worse, but he tried his best so fair play. Chelsea - whey what can you say, for a team like they have to play as they do is a joke, Mourihno wants to take a look at his players b4 criticising others, i thought the FK was a FK for the goal but what was Given doing was my immediate thought - havent seen it back. Mikel is gash, Bridge and Ferreira looked gash as did the Cannibal. Changed so much when they got the subs on. Entertainment Value - 5 Support/Atmos - 6 NUFC Performance - 6 Roeder Performance - 3

  23. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/6195783.stm Newcastle say a consortium backed by American group Polygon are one of the parties that have approached the board about a possible offer for the club. The announcement comes after Magpies chairman Freddy Shepherd told the parties linked with moves for the club to make their intentions public. Newcastle however, insist the board "have not accepted any proposals for the company from any party". A statement added that "there can be no certainty that an offer will be made".
