  1. If he goes out with a hamstring, that's it for me with Pardew...I'm joining the dark side You're joking, right? err no, which part do you think was a joke? Don't see why you think it is a joke. If he is doubtful, then he shouldn't start, the last thing we need right now is to lose Colo long term (which hamstrings are) especially when the replacement is Campbell. Partnership of Williamson + Campbell has relegation written all over it!

  4. Think we can forget any kind of serious investment then. Sounds good.... I'm not quite sure what he really means, coz there is no direct quote to the effect. He should come out clearly and tell us that the 35M will be spent on transfers coming in. If it is true the money will just be reinvested to keep the likes of Tiote and Jose (great as that is), then I'm officially joining the Ashley + Pardew hate club. I was pissed off that we did not get anyone in January to replace Carroll, the only thing that pacified me is the hope that we would spend the 35M for incoming players in the summer. If that is not gonna happen then fuck Ashley and fuck Pardew!
  5. what the fuck? Is Colo injured? We seem to be losing key players like flies dropping...something wrong with our training and the way we prepare for matches?
  6. Did he really say this? Trust him to come out with such quotes, nobody else comes close to him...except maybe Cantona, and even then, Cantona is more philosophical than humor!
  7. Maybe you can watch the 5-0 vs West Ham after that, no Carroll and no Hughton
  8. I don't know the context of those quotes or the questions asked, but without the benefit of that, that was a stupid stupid quote to make, making me dislike Pardew even more. Just shut up man!
  9. I want an answer. I don't even care if it's from a proper person. There isn't an answer mate. If we ask for an emergency loan the FA would laugh in our faces and truth be told, I don't think I could blame them. did anyone say we should try to get loan players outside the window ? Nah but the idea was bandied about for a bit by blogs and forums and whatnot. Nah that's when you have a real emergency like losing all your goalkeepers save for an 18 year old kid, not when the owner + manager combine together (in whichever portion you like) to act stupidly (before anyone ask not referring to the sale of Carroll but the fact that we did not replace him even with a fucking loan!)
  10. That'll be more than enough. Don't believe Ashley's lies. What lies man? Those quotes were from Henry himself? You're in such a huff that you're not making any sense anymore
  11. robert tinted specs regarding his free kicks, he put loads into row z and probably wasn't effective with enough to warrant him taking every single one. i wonder if the older folk go for ginola and the younger robert. seems that way, and i certainly wouldn't use stats tio try and prove anything. Depends on what you mean by "older". I'm 40++ and voted Robert madras, flushing out the old f***s since 0043. can I say Madras the c* word now?

    Ambition

Depends on your definition of success but I don't think that's true at all. I think the club would like you to think it though. Well yeah, by success I was thinking European qualification and then pushing up into the top 4. If by success you mean getting promoted and potentially finishing in the top half, then pushing on from there... we're already doing that. Do you think Spurs are taking massive financial risks? Or even the mackems, who will probably still either bottle it or simply be caught by Liverpool, but are still very much in contention for Europe? Do you think Arsenal are taking massive financial risks? How would you have gone about running the club? Serious question. Thats a question to anyone bytheway. Don't sell the best players? Agenda aside id genuinely be interested in someones opinion as to what exactly they'd do differently. In terms of transfers I think we;ve been close to spot on in recent years. Even Spurs had to sell the likes of berba and carrick before they got estabilished. If the money is spent wisely then we're on the right way in my opinioon. Obviosuly the biggest if going. Aye, our transfers have been so spot on, we ended up going down. Jesus, man. Yeh, that was the reason why we want down. For the record I mean who've we signed and sold and the prices we've got for them etc. P.S You've always striked me as a bit of an internet warrior. What the hell's an internet warrior? I judge the success of transfers on what they do on the field, not what price you get for them at the end of it. The reason we went down was because the players weren't good enough - that's the players that we bought, you know, from transfers? And we didn't benefit from the ones we didn't have, because, you know, we'd transferred them? f***ing hell. f*** me - managing a club made easy by Wullie. So in your world the squad that went down was at least the 18th worst in the premiership?! I'm almost 100% certain that if Wenger left in the circumstances that Keegan did and Arsenal appointed Joe Kinnear then they'd go down too, in your world that would make there players not good enough either! Obviously this is all relatively moot as there's no way of knowing for sure but its laughable to suggest that the quality of the players was the reason we went down. The squad that went down was almost identical to the one that went up. You laugh as if they didn't go down ffs. Aye, Arsenal would have gone down, sensible comparison. West Brom have been relegated and subsequently promoted with the same squad about five times, does that mean they were actually good enough each time they got relegated, just badly managed? I'm actually embarrassed for you. Simple question was the squad the 18th worst in the premiership?! Yes or no will do. http://i43.tinypic.com/9kujgl.jpg Guess this little 'misunderstadning' boils down to each persons definition of "quality of squad" becasue by yours and Dave's definition Fulham had a better squad than Spurs and Man City... One of the best comebacks I've seen  Ridiculous to the point of being stupid to claim that quality of squad = position in league. A team's position at the end of the season is a result of many factors, quality of squad is just one of many and when we got relegated, that was probably one of the smaller factors. Those players were good enough to stay up but were managed poorly (and subsequently played badly for that short period of time) by a combination of Kinnear, Shearer and the shockingly good Hughton
  14. I voted for Robert but just. Ginola is the more skillful player and had more flair, but Robert's free kicks and crosses were just phenomenal and his stats as a left winger is probably second only after C. Ronaldo. Granted his free kicks were not consistent and there were quite a few that went Carew style, but it felt so good to feel so optimistic and conversely see opposing fans shit bricks whenever we got free a free kick almost anywhere within 30m range. Fair enough if you voted for Ginola, it's almost a matter of taste but agree with Ronaldo that those saying Ginola is streets ahead seriously underated Robert and for the record I watched them both live for 30++ games each
  15. That's hardly an apology. Exactly! And the word "But" is known as the 'great eraser' coz it means that you don't believe the sentence/statement made before the "but" i.e. the aploogy. Having said that, I hope we don't give him too much of a hard time, for the time being, he's practically our last hope for goals.
  16. Seconded, I hate this thread, never thought we were safe even when some were getting all optimistic. Kept on saying that the league is so tight that a few defeats and things change fast. Lose against Arsenal (which we will) and we'll be right in the mix again!
  17. Yup seems to be hinting at something here. Hope we pull out all the stops to get him sign a new contract. With Carroll, I don't think the issue was just the amount asked for but the fact that he just signed a new contract a few months ago and the management rightly (or wrongly to some) did not want to create a precedent where players can renegotiate a new contract so soon after signing a new one. Hopefully the fact that Enrique has not signed a new contract would make the case different coz he is one of the few that I think we should bust our wage cap for.
  18. 'still behind the likes of Martins'....? Keep it up, I'm rolling around the floor here..! That was one of the best quotes of the day ! Why? This thread is all about opinions as there is no real objective way of measuring. I happen think Martins is a more complete player though obviously Carrol best him in terms of heading and ability in the air (mind you Martins was not too bad at heading either). Martins is physically faster, has better dribbling skills, ball control and can shoot with more power and potentially more accuracy including long rangers. These are all attributes that of course Carroll can improve on in the future but I'm comparing the Carroll of now vs the Martins that played for us. On a side note, are you able to debate like a grown up or are you only capable of throwing insults? Boo hoo someone said something bad about my hero Carroll, let me insult him quick, pathetic. If you don't rate Martins, fair enough but at least try to argue your point. Your reply isn't even worth me trying to answer but as you are so deluded I will try and get something to penetrate those shell-like ears... Apart from anything else, the club paid NOWT for Carroll and 10m for Martins - do you think the club got value from him ? Are you even sure the club knew exactly how old he was ? Did he pull up any trees for Nigeria in the WC ? Oh, sorry, he wasn't playing because Wolfsburg weren't playing him either...talking of that, it was probably the best deal this club has EVER done in getting 10m back from Wolfsburg when they sold him - bet the Germans just LOVE NUFC... Martins was a headless chicken, not fit to lace Alan Shearer's boots - and given the choice, even if the player was 5 years younger, do you think Liverpool would have paid 35m for him ?? I don't(and won't)have to justify WHO is my football hero - I haven't got one. Unlike you., I grew up years ago and stopped putting these guys on a pedestal. However, you keep trying - you'll get it right one day, but I wouldn't like to place a large amount of cash on as to when..! Ashley must just LOVE having fans like you - luvverly jubbly..!!!! What the hell are you talking about? Are you drunk or on drugs? Who is comparing the price/value of Carroll vs Martins or how much we sold them for, the question in this thread wasn't who was more expensive or how old Martins is (stale joke by the way). Neither did I say anything to indicate that Martins is aywhere close to Shearer. When did I put Martins or anyone else on a pedestal? Can you read for f*** sake? It was a simple question of where do you think Carroll is ranked amongst our previous strikers and I happen to think that Carroll at present is still the behind the likes of Owen, Bellamy and Martins (at their best). For the record I think Martins is above average and nowehere close to the likes of Shearer, Cole and Ferdinand. If you disagree with my ranking that is fine. This is all just subjective assessment (mine included). I'm not even going to argue with your ranking and insist that it is somehow objectively wrong. Plus how does this thread have anythig to do with Ashley?
  19. Some people thought that we also needed a winger and we're one lighter in that department, you couldn't make it up. Yup, the only thing remotely good about the transfer window was tying up HBA (but even that could have been done in the summer). Notwitstanding the sale of Carroll, it is criminal how we never got a replacement or had a replacement lined up and get an extra striker when it was quite obvious that we were short upfront. I'm beginning to think that the Best hattrick was the worst thing that could have happened to us during the transfer window, it made some (certainly Pardew) believed that we had a Premiership striker in our books when that game was clearly a flash in the pan Did we even try to get a striker in, all I remember was Bently, Larsson and of course Ireland and N'Zogbia, all wingers/midfielders!

    Hatem Ben Arfa

My worry now (I am a paranoid) is that due to our fantastic option upfront, we will rush him back and then he will have a setback in his very first game. If it means waiting 2-3 games more (and even losing those games) by all means, we just need about 10 more points and we can get that if HBA plays even starting April onwards. If he has a long term set back in his first game back, we are royally fucked!
  21. Sorry if mentioned before, how bad is Shola's injury? Can't believe I'm gonna say this but we could be real fuck if he is out long term!
  22. Well I've always mantained that I'll take 17th position right from the beginning even when othere were optimistic and so sure that we would be safe. Nothing has changed for me, still take 17th especially after i) we didnt get a replacement for Carroll and ii) Ameobi's injury against Fulham.
  23. I'll bet you £100 that we won't go down this year. PM me for details. Get any reply? No. Offer still stands. How bout 50 quid instead? But I want to check my odds laying off our relegation in Betfair and see if I can win both ways
  24. They have a track recording of misleading and lying yes blah blah blah I've heard it all before. There's still no reason why Carroll would be a part of it though, and why if they really wanted him out why he'd agree to help them save face. I'm not saying they're blameless in this, but all my anger is directed towards Carroll atm at least. Care to elaborate your point or is a face palm the best you can offer? Ya I thought so, you too
