Seemingly everyone who's seen Xisco play for the club in the last 6 months thinks he's gash... While there hasn't been any massive wow moments as such, he's has been canny enough for me. I'd have no problem seeing what he can do over a season, though not sure whether he'd makes a good pairing with Carrol (who should be starting now imho). Fair play. The overriding impression I got from the regular reserve / friendly goers (esp binnsy) was that he's turboshit. I'm not going to claim I've seen much of him myself.

That's a good point actually, if we ever get sorted we might be relying on Shearer to pull in some favours with his premiership pals. If I was a premiership manager I'd not want to send my promising young players anywhere near Newcastle United FC. Why? Because it's cursed? I find it impossible to believe we still owe half of the money on him. Given that he was three years in to a 4 year contract it's more conceivable that we owed £2.5m on him.

Yeah, being the hardest working and best player over two seasons is a pretty good way to play the fans. I could accept more being like that.

I love Keegan, but I just can't see it working again. He's a superb manager and whilst I don't blame him for leaving I'm just not sure he's strong enough mentally to take the job on long term. Sholagol needs to concentrate on top scoring next season so that leaves Shearer. I don't think Al is nailed on to be our saviour or anything like that but I do think, realistically, that it's probably the right time for him now.

There was never any chance of him staying though. Getting more than any of us expected for him has to be a massive plus.
