Was having this conversation with a collector friend a few days ago (I deal almost exclusively in match worn/issued home Newcastle shirts) As soon as money can be made from any kind of collecting (which classic shirts now is) its fucked and the vultures circle. It even extends to the club and the ridiculous prices they have been charging for the shirts in their memorabilia section (Dont get me started on matchwornshirt.com!!). It prices out the true collectors who do it for the love and replaces it with people doing it for status and a false impression that its an investment.
