This. The club weren't for matching Given's ambitions, or for even having any ambition whatsoever. We were heading one way and he wasn't hanging around for it, and I don't blame him because he was far too good to be playing in the Championship. He was here for 12 years and it probably broke his heart to witness what we'd become under Ashley, to suggest he isn't a Newcastle man and a club legend is just daft.

I just watched Adam P's video going around the new store and I think its brilliant to be honest.

We'll struggle to beat a top side or most Prem teams away from home in the cup if we keep playing like this, Wednesday is a big test after losing today too. Id be surprised if Howe wasn't sacked if we finished 10th too. A lot has been invested in the squad for two seasons without Europe. Hopefully we can just turn a corner quickly. Two wins next would go a long way.

I know things can get stale without new signings but its hard for me to put this season down to just that. Bar injuries last season we'd have had a great shout for top 4 again, that team and the team that finished 4th is still out there. No one can tell me that not getting a couple of new signings has changed that squad into a squad that can't even do the basics. The team looks devoid of ideas all over the park and that's down to the coaching. I don't want Howe out or anything like that but he needs to show what he's made of and turn this around by trying something new going forward. We may still get something out of this game here but its papering over the cracks if we do.

Reading this thread really gives you an insight into where we are right now. It reads like the Ashley days of no hope and expecting a loss or even a battering.

Don't think I could be bothered with this place tomorrow if we lose this and end the weekend in the bottom half.
