  1. Did Pardew just say we can't compete with Man City's squad? Better just declare the game and go home then.
  2. Jonas starting tonight, and people think we've already replaced Cabaye with Sissoko.
  3. I mean't if they gamble with what they've got for more than a year and go back in for Baines.
  4. I think anything between £30-£35 million should be acceptable for both parties. Everton could do so much with that money but the deal would need to happen this week because they're running out of time, and I think they'd want about 4 or 5 new signings with that cash if they sold those two. I think Man United are mad going for either though. Evra is still a good player, plus they also have Fabio and Buttner who are younger with potential. I think they could go another season at least with those 3, testing the wasters with the two younger full backs (Baines will be in his 30s at this stage). If they aren't up to the standard they need they could go out and find another player on the continent for better value. Fellaini doesn't fit in Man United at all for me, for the reasons Froggy has stated already. I've said that to my Man United supporting friends since last season and I stand by it. Also I'm guessing the bulk of the bid is made up with Fellaini's evaluation which makes me think they could get better value abroad again.
  5. They definitely knew this bid would get rejected. This is far from over imo.
  6. surely be to god they know these bids will just be rejected? is this arsenals version of we tried?! They're trying to unsettle the players and force the clubs to sell. It's just a different way to tap players up
  7. There's no chance Arsenal will bid anything more than the high teens for him imo.
  8. Imagine those 2 in a bidding war over one of our players ffs. If that happened we could actually get about £25 million, but it's essential we spend it.
  9. Why? Big profit. I was going to say this as well. What did we get him for, £4 million? £12 could be good business in Ashley's eyes. One thing I'll say about that lot in charge is they do seem to get decent money when we sell, bar the odd case such as Given. I just hope it wasn't Llambias getting us the good deals.
  10. This is probably the only time Kinnear can actually pick up the phone and call Wenger whenever he wants.
  11. "£6 million for that daft foreigner Yohan Kebabs? Deal".
  12. I'd be more confident of a replacement if Kinnear wasn't the man in charge of getting it. I just can't see that buffoon getting anyone of good quality here that isn't either free and desperate or a loan.
  13. I'd say that is the answer there tbh. Cabaye has clearly got quality.
  14. It would be a complete disaster if we let him go. We'd be losing a quality midfielder and we'd be relying on Joe Kinnear to replace him. If Kinnear somehow manages to see the transfer through, we'll be getting someone of Gosling's standard as a replacement.

    St James' Park

'Iconic' gates sunk into concrete in front of wall. I'm surprised there isn't a Sports Direct logo on the gates somewhere.
  16. It's probably more than we'll spend over the next 3 or 4 windows.
  17. The forum is realistically pessimistic to be fair. The management at the club is laughable at best, so a lot of us are just apathetic. Anyone who feels worse after tonight though is just getting a reality check because most of us know we're going to be well beaten, unless we lose about 7 or 8-0 of course.
  18. No it doesn't, it begins when we play Morecambe. Not sure if serious. I understand ignoring today as the start of the season as we'll clearly get bummed, but writing off West Ham at home as well?

A very good chance we'll finish above Fulham? I wouldn't be so sure.

  21. Season still starts for me next week. Two home games and a favourable cup tie in the space of a week to look forward to.

Agree, in the last 12 months Ba, Perch, Harper, Simpson, and Ranger have left, and Gouffran, Sissokho, Debuchy, Haidara, Mbiwa, and Remy have come in. With another signing we should definitely be stronger. Kinnear in as well.
  23. Lampards free was excellent, but we don't need to see it 10 times on MOTD2.

How did Cardiff fair yesterday? They look decent?
  25. Monaco, Dortmund and PSG all live tomorrow on BT Sport. Can't decide whether to watch those or the Premier League double bill.
