He might even struggle to make the bench now when we've signed Atsu, Lazaar and Murphy with Mitrovic back as well. I know he's a CM but Rafa would have the option to move down Diame if needed as well, if a CM gets unjured during a game.

Really off topic but you're the one who lived/stayed in in Chile for a while right? I did go to Patagonia but never to the Chilean side because i got stuck in Buenos Aires longer than i expected I did go to Chile after Argentina, but never down south from Santiago. It just crossed my mind...

I have no idea how good he is tbh, but apparently he is supposed to be very quick and good one on one. If he's good it could prove to be a very good signing. We have some really good players for this level but not any players that are proper dribblers looking to beat his man one on one very often, especially against teams defending very deep with many players. He could prove to be a effective "door opener" for us. I really like the thought of Atsu looking to take players on with Moroccoan beauty providing width and pace along the left hand side. If he is a player that is very good at beating people then it will give Lazaar alot of space to take advantage from. Also having an offensive LB playing almost as a winger often up in the last third will give Atsu the chance to go inside in to a more central role at times which will make it even more difficult for the opposition to defend against us as we will have more players up there. This is perfect with a natural left footed full back because when our wide player goes inside we still don't lose any width having that extra option with Lazaar up there. I have a good gut feeling about this

Spurs don't exactly play counter football do they? Iirc they play a possession based style and press high. Sissoko will probably do ok for them but he's not exactly a door opener kind of player.

Team as a whole is more important than individuals

Rafa himself said that we've tried for a few players that he really wanted but got turned down because we're not in the PL right now. Don't think things are quite as easy as some of us might think (me included) sometimes. Yeah players Like Hanley, Murphy and Clark aren't very exciting but they will mostly be backup. Not sure what we could have attracted instead of them, also OK with being backup players. And we probably can't attract top quality that are better than Mbemba, and maybe even Lascelles if you judge him by how he did last season. Another quality winger would have been nice but I can't complain too much. Interested to see what Atsu can do, hope he will be very good.

Only phase one so far which has been a major overhaul and i'm very happy and think we've done well, especially when you consider how many we've got rid of as well. Phase 2 will be to add that extra bit of quality to our starting eleven. We will be able to strengthen in january if needed, and IF we're doing well and are top of the league then we might be able to sign even better players if we definitely look like going up. Strengthen in January if needed depending on how the players perform, or even more importantly how the team performs. Otherwise go for top quality next summer. I'm pretty certain that we'll be able to attract some very good players with Rafa in charge and us being in the PL. 7/10 for me.

Yes he might have wanted to leave but he could have been respectful and kept his f***ing mouth shut like many other players manage to do despite having the will to go to another club. Good deal for everyone involved, well except for Spurs when you consider what they've paid.
