Barton and Jonas wont fit in that formation as wide men, I can see Barton playing as one of the '2' only with alot more creative freedom. It also depends on the dynamics of the game but the wide men play as midfiled-cum-strikers when we are holding possession always looking to make runs in the channels between the full back and CD, as well as linking up with the lone striker, should realisitically be lookking t get 8-10 goals a season in that role. Jonas is to conventional a winger to be applied to that role, isnt a great finisher wich is a big problem. Remember him running the show against Sweden at Ullevi, he was man motm by miles, what a player he could have become in the right circumstances, his vision and passing was something out of this world at times.

Could Ben Arfa play the role that Dyer did for us from the centre? Not that he's got the same engine to do that (well we do have Tiote now) His natural talent is way beyond Dyer's was but i've got doubts, probably better in a free role between midfield and attack or as a LW.

Well tbh i would love to see us signing him, someone with great pace who also uses it with some good runs, cause i can imagine him being very effective with Joey in midfield, and Ben Arfa as well who's got a very nice through ball. We haven't had this type of player up front since Bellamy left. He does play as a right/left forward mostly though, as Sow is the central one. I think Gervinho up front with a player in the same "style" as Kluivert/Bergkamp (you know what i mean) would be very nice, or Ben Arfa in a Beardsley role with Gervinho creatic havoc with his pace and runs, would be very effectice if we played the right way. Maybe Gervinho isn't the natural goalscorer but im sure he would find enough chanches to score quite many. Dont know if we'll be able to compete for his signature though (depending on the clubs going for him that is)
