"...we might lose even if we do everything right" :-)

'Alan, what's the weather like?' 'Mild and err... We might have trouble holding on to Remy and Tiote if the right bid comes in.' :-)

Yeah but if we are doing well in the league and you get a last minute winner and only a give a 'meh', you are hardly happy with the way things are going in the league. Results went our way this weekend with Everton and Southampton both dropping points and i think it's only natural to want to finish higher than them even if it doesn't make a huge difference. Absolutely clueless . If you can't get yourself excited and jubilant over a last minute goal, you should look elsewhere for your entertainment. Doesn't matter if you are bottom of the league in the conference or 9th in the premier league or even playing Sunday league football, a 90th minute winner is simply euphoric. but I think everyone got your message. You're alright with playing bad for 88 mins with the goal in the dying minutes...I am not.

There are people who want to be entertained when watching football...others just look at the table and stats (Pardew-like)

Disagree, just need someone to dictate and control play from behind the forwards... Buy Cabella and convert him to a player a bit more like Valbuena (or hell play Marveaux there right?) and we can get away with packing the midfield with graft. That said if we were to do that a left footed fullback must be played..... The key to this is that you get a winger and convert him to a 10 so he can drift and create space as there would not be much width etc. us signing anyone... :-)

Maybe he should try his hand at golf? American Football Field Goal stuff :-)

As much as I dislike Lazio, I am impressed

Managing fans expectations by dropping little hints here and there, well in advance of Remy not coming to us. I see, but it's not like we have any expectations left with our current setup, isn't it? Or is it just me on a monday morning? :-/

Why the heck does he always have to mention that it is going to be hard to hold onto Remy? We already know, Alan

Fair play for the warning. :-)

The best way I've summed up my position so far maybe, has been to post those lineups from September of the last 3 seasons in the AP thread. In each case, our squad has been discernibly stronger, i.e; we have, in some way or another, improved our personnel each year, whether the improvements have come in January or whatever. If by this September that hasn't happened again, and the 'how strong is our squad?' graph has levelled off or gone downhill, then I'll want to know why. I'm not interested in what we have or haven't done in the last X windows- are the players on the pitch at the start of each season better than they were at the start of the season before? The answer in the last few years has been 'yes'. I fully expect some action over the summer. If it doesn't happen I'll be as p*ssed off as you. Well, nearly. You seem to get very p*ssed off. Let's not speculate about what might or might not happen in the Summer. Look at the here and now - it's s**** and you know it. Also, your argument is absolutely invalid as the clubs in and around us have improved considerably in the same time frame whilst we lag behind. Finally, it's been a natural improvement due to the fact we were only promoted again in 09/10 season. The here and now is that we've just sold our best player for loads of money and haven't replaced him yet. Obviously what we do in the next window is very relevant. Yes it's a natural improvement but it's still an improvement (and I do think we've improved relative to other sides too, most definitely), and the question for me is will it continue? If yes: good. If no: bad. The last player we sold for loads of cash was Andy Carroll - how long did it take to replace him? I'd suggest we still haven't considering our current striking options. Out of interest where do you think we'll finish this season? Remy, Gouffran and de Jong aren't so bad I don't think? I'd love to keep them all and replace Shola to boot. I think we'll finish in 8th or 9th. Gouffran?

We haven't signed a player on a permanent deal for 2 whole transfer windows. Do you conclude that we are making sufficient effort you absolute f***ing imbecile? :-) (he's angry now) Trollemache (i meant)

this guy made me fall in love with Newcastle United. Happy birthday, my hero!

Am I reading that wrong or has he pretty much just thrown the towel in against Spurs with that statement? Maybe with the injuries and suspensions, Spurs excellent away form and our near bottom of the form table results, he's just not expecting 3 points. Neither am I. as a fan you're allowed to be pessimistic, but the manager?!?! :-/
