  1. Manchester United football players found themselves at the centre of an unfolding sex scandal today after a woman claimed she was raped at the hotel where the team was holding its Christmas party. The police received a 999 call from a 26 year-old woman at Manchester's Great John Street Hotel early this morning. She claimed she had been the victim of a sex attack. Manchester United had hired out the entire 30-room five-star hotel for a private Christmas party, which was attended by around 150 guests. The hotel was closed today while police officers from the Greater Manchester Police began an inquiry into the alleged incident. A spokesperson for the hotel said: "I can't confirm anything. I can only say that we are helping the police with their inquiries." A police spokesperson said: “Police are currently investigating a report of rape at a hotel in Manchester city centre. “At about 4.15am on Tuesday December 18, 2007, police were called to the hotel on Great John Street to a report that a 26-year-old woman had been raped. “Inquiries are continuing.” The Manchester Evening News diary column reported that "the entire first team", apart from Cristiano Ronaldo, went to the Manchester 235 Casino around lunchtime yesterday, where they were joined by two drag queens and five burlesque dancers. They then moved on to Old Grapes, a Manchester pub owned by Coronation Street actor Liz Dawn, before heading to Great John Street Hotel in the evening. There has been no immediate comment from Manchester United. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article3069345.ece
  2. Either way, an incredibly good decision to have to make.
  3. With Martins gone in Jan...Smith/Owen or Fatuka will have to be worked at...More importantly I'd like to see a couple of midfielders come in the Jan window with creative and pace components. I'd rather lose any of the other strikers than lose Martins. He means African Cup of Nations rather than being sold I think. :icon_clown: Of course. Ignore me.

  5. I agree. I'm all for giving Allardyce time but if someone of Capello's calibre was interested in managing us, he'd be forgotten about faster than last night's sex dream. It would be a significant upgrade. The problem is that Capello won't be interested anyway so we might as well not even bother.
  6. I've thought that Kaka was vastly overrated for a while. He pulled the wool over people's eyes with a few good performances in big games bu t he's by no means the best player in the World. Messi for me.
  7. If I support a team, it'll be more because of at least one of the players. Last World Cup, my second team was France because of Zidane. Next summer, I'm not sure there's anyone there that I hold in as high a regard. Maybe Henry.
  8. You no doubt hate the idea of Shearer as manager though, right?
  9. And Benitez is apparently interested (or is at least feigning an interest).
  10. Yes. I'm going to try to f*** Elle McPherson tonight. Good on me! "Can't blame [you] for trying to be honest, would those laughing now still be laughing if [she] accepted?"
  11. Considering the chances of him accepting, it wasn't even worth the cost of the phone call, or the time wasted doing it for that matter.
  12. If McClaren was to play Beckham at right back instead of Richards or Neville he would need a good stabbing. South America style!
  13. Martin Samuel wrote an interesting article in today's Times. His theory is that our youth aren't developing technically because we force them to play on adult size pitches too early, which causes the emphasis to be on hoofing the ball up the pitch and gives an obvious advantage to size over ability. It's an interesting idea that could hold water but my only question is do other countries actually do it differently? Here is the link and article: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/martin_samuel/article2910642.ece
  14. Hargreaves is fit to play isn't he? I'd play him ahead of Barry personally.
  15. I agree that we have to stick with him but you have to say that Manchester City hired their new manager at a similar time to us, so them being ahead of us is actually an indictment of our manager rather than just something to shrug the shoulders at (although I realise though that they have spent a lot more money). The time to judge is not now but I must say that I'm not convinced that Allardyce will be a success at this club beyond perhaps a league cup or a one-off top 6 finish in a few years. I hope I'm wrong.
