  1. Surely, a left back is the priority in the immediate future though? When fit, we have Rozenhal and Taylor for the central positions but Babayaro (who is only rarely fit) for the left back position.
  2. Name names then. Who's slagging him off?
  3. Shit! This is where the wheels fall off the whole Newcastle revolution.
  4. Yes, the Tevez one is annoying too because, arguably, his presence disrupted the team to the point that they had to be rescued from relegation in the first place!
  5. And that includes being relegated and not winning the league for 26 years. Arsenal are another matter since half their stadium seems to be filled with corparates. I was going to post something very similar. Man United fans are often given stick because they have so many of the glory supporters and corporate 'fans' but they also have a hell of a lot of real fans who would stick with them through thick and thin.
  6. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/article2058123.ece The main two that annoy me are Michael Essien and Wayne Rooney. How the fuck are they above Hansen, Shearer, Greaves, Irwin or Robson? Where are the likes of Rob Lee, Peter Beardsley, Andy Cole, Shay Given for us? There are plenty of examples for other clubs too, like Freddy Ljungberg for Arsenal or Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta for Everton off the top of my head. It just seems poorly thought out to me. Thoughts?
  7. Do you reckon it'll ever get the point where we pick up a ronny and read, "I was at the barbers today, getting a short back and sides, gelled, with comb marks, like a charver, and Dave, my barber, informs me that a mate of a mate, who is a street sweeper for the city council, saw Player X at St. James' Park today, discussing personal terms..." I hate that haircut, it looks bloody awful and of course the lad underneath it is always a charva scumbag.
  8. I'm impressed, Oliver has written a couple of articles today where he hasn't tried to steal the limelight for himself. There's no "Ameobi told me..." or "I spoke to a club insider..."
  9. He was originally offered less than this. He's held out for this much purely because he wants to be the highest paid at the club. He wasn't just given an offer that he took. He played 'hardball' to get it.
  10. Not worth anywhere near that IMHO. I can understand him trying to get the best possible money but it seems like he's held the club to ransom quite a bit. I take it he gave up on the ridiculous clause that he was guaranteed the manager's job when he retires?
  11. Good idea. I don't want to see Barton as captain. He's too much of a scumbag for my liking. We're supposed to be changing as a club for the better. Rob Lee, Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley, all professionals who, at the time, were guaranteed starting places. How's it going to be after Barton's beaten a couple of the player's up in training? It's not going to make players happy to follow him out of the tunnel, is it? Plus, I'm not convinced, with the squad that we have, that he's an automatic starter even when his form's not the best. We have Emre, Duff, Zog, Milner, Butt, Dyer, and Solano to make a midfield out of. Barton has a few bad games and he should be out of the starting XI, as Roeder found out with Parker, this can be a problem. The likes of Owen, Given and Taylor are pretty much playing safe in the knowledge that it would take a huge and extended dip in form for them to be left out.
  12. Re the point of the article, I couldn't stomach Joey Barton as our captain personally. And I'd be a little disappointed if Owen was made captain but I'd accept it if it was designed to make him feel more like this is his club, so he might actually give us the best years of his career.
  13. Does the stupid fucker not know what the word literally means or something? Has he ever written an article where he hasn't mentioned himself in any way? The man must have an ego the size of Freddy Shepherd's.
  14. If I was getting a player's name on the back of a Newcastle top (that I'd also have to be hypothetically getting as well in the first place), I'd probably go for Emre 5. Voted Taylor though.
  15. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=476416&CPID=8&clid=4&lid=&title=Utaka+claims+double+interest Quite a difference between Man City and Man United wanting you.
  16. If this is genuine, Barca should take the money and run IMO. No individual can be worth that much. They could use some of the money to buy a decent goalkeeper.
  17. Absolutely not. Not being a dick but I wouldn't donate at all. In fact, I'd be quite pleased if you started charging, I'd stop visiting the site and I'd waste less time at uni when I should be working.
  18. Can't believe you're actually thinking about it. Come to think about it, for a decent fee I wouldn't mind Messi. I was told by someone who apparently knows someone at the club to expect one massive signing. I'm not saying that to be big and clever or anything, and certainly not claiming to know anymore than anyone else but I'm just gullible enough to believe him. As it is, I'm indulging every fantasy that comes up. Of all the really big players in the World, Sheva is the one that had a poor season last year and is at a club with a high turnover of players and a manager who doesn't seem to want him. That makes him more likely to fit the bill than most.
  19. I'm not sure Barca need to replace Deco if they get rid of him. I'm not even sure if he would be in the first team if they had a match tomorrow. Also, if Chelsea lose Lampard, I'd expect Mourinho to go back to his favoured formation and have Ballack in the Lampard position. Again, no requirement for Deco.
  20. Probably bollocks all to the story but, just to indulge the fantasy, IMO, Shevchenko would be an incredible signing for the right price. Once he regains his confidence, he will show how good he is again. And how good he is is one of the best strikers in the World.
  21. Once he had swung that golf club his career was over at Liverpool, no club would or should stand for that from one of their players. Wasn't that blown out of proportion though? Can't remember as well as I wish but I thought it became clear that that incident was a mountain out of a molehill and that the only issue was that they were not in their rooms resting in the first place. I could well be wrong.
  22. Aye, can't believe people like Brown and King get in ahead of him. Should be first choice cover after Rio and Terry imo. King is a much better defender than Carragher and scores goals. Joke? Ledley King is injury prone, and is in no way better than Carragher. Ledley King can come back when he has done it against the best, like Carragher has. No joke, an honest opinion (probably should take the 'much' out of the statement though TBF). King does seem to be injury prone, I agree. I wasn't taking that into account (do you also think that Carragher is better than Woodgate?) In my opinion, Ledley King is a better tackler than Carragher with better positioning and composure (how many times do you see Carragher diving in with last ditch slides compared with King?) and he scores goals. In fact, I rate King above John Terry in these departments too (except maybe goalscoring) and as a better overall defender. Popular opinion disagrees with me about this admittedly. I would suggest that the majority of people who disagree with me would be 'tricked' by the fact that both Carragher and Terry play in defensively-minded teams and, so, have more help in defence whereas King is left exposed more often at Spurs.
  23. Liverpool had a potential star in Bellamy. He wasn't given enough time in a settled forward line to prove how much of a bargain he really was in my opinion. I'm glad we didn't go back for him though, he's a proven disruptive arsehole who'll probably only be worse these days given that he probably feels that he's missed his shot at the big time with Liverpool.
  24. Aye, can't believe people like Brown and King get in ahead of him. Should be first choice cover after Rio and Terry imo. King is a much better defender than Carragher and scores goals.
