  1. I'm surprised that so many would have Bentley in their teams. He's just the flavour of the month at the moment IMO. ....................Given Richards...Campbell...King...Barry Lennon...Arteta...Cahill...Milner ............Owen...Berbatov

    Adriano

Adriano isn't past it like Kluivert was. If he was motivated, he genuinely could be one of the best. I seriously doubt that playing for Newcastle United would motivate him though.
  3. He shagged your lass or something didn't he? Go on let it all out fella, we are here for you Christ. That would be embarassing too. http://www.goal.com/resultsimg/3987.jpg
  4. Benitez is quoted as having said this in a typically playing the victim type tirade: "...Then I want to ask the Premier League why it was so difficult for Liverpool to sign Javier Mascherano, when we had to wait a long time for the paperwork, but it was so easy for Carlos Tévez to join Manchester United..." Obviously, I don't know all the ins and outs but, from my perspective, it seemed that Man United had a lot more trouble getting Tevez than Liverpool had getting Mascherano. His whining about the Heinze thing is ridiculous too. The FA can't force a club to sell a player to a particular club on the basis of a friendly agreement between the player and his club. “It’s going to be very difficult for us to win the Premier League because the other teams are so strong, but I want our supporters to know that, despite the disadvantages we have, we will fight all the way. We will fight to cope with our more difficult kick-off times and all the other decisions which are going against us.” :crybaby2: :crybaby2: :crybaby2:
  5. I agree, it is hard to tell at high speed and they are perhaps unfairly slaughtered when they get it wrong but, as with the Robbie Savage dive on Sunday that I mentioned earlier, when they get it right, it barely even warrants a mention! That is just unfair.
  6. Word, but I would say that you could argue that Cole looked dangerous without really amounting to anything. TBF though, on another day, Joe Cole would've scored a goal, maybe two.
  7. Paul Robinson is an average goalkeeper whose mistakes seem to be as frequent as David James' ever were. I hate his attitude too, he seems to never accept blame or to recognize his own faults.
  8. I know two people who support Liverpool, both born and raised up here. 'nuff said.
  9. <puts away bag of sweets and pictures of puppy dogs>
  10. I see what you're saying but, if all refereeing mistakes could be prevented before they happened somehow, I'd be all for it.
  11. What we need is a new breed of players, a breed that don't cheat, don't protest in mass at decisions against them and respect the f****** referee. The perfect ref doesn't and won't exist - the better treatment they get the better they'll become. Kinda stepping on my toes there Mowen. I wasn't genuinely implying that we need to develop some form of half machine-half human super official. Although, in an ideal world,...
  12. What we need is a new breed of referee, one who cannot be swayed by mass protests at decisions, one who is consistent in upholding the law no matter how many penalties or cards have already been given, one who doesn't care what people think of him. We need Roboref. I think that David Elleray is probably the best referee the Premiership has had.
  13. BTW, awful thread title. Surely something like 'In defence of Rob Styles' or something would be much more appropriate.
  14. A superb point in the middle paragraph. Referee's shouldn't get the blame for being conned by cheats, it's f****** hard to spot the difference between a dive and a clip at high speed from ground level. Yeah, like Robbie Savage against Arsenal on Sunday. I thought that he'd genuinely been fouled at first but, watching the replay, he blatantly cheated. Nothing was really said about the referee making a good decision in not being conned but it was a good decision. The only criticism is the yellow card didn't come out.
  15. He's went along with it, actually... Or did you know that already? I knew that, I was just thinking of the worst pun possible Well, congratulations on finding it.
  16. Saw Geremi walking away from the Gate on his own a couple of weeks ago.
  17. Because they're a nothing club that tries to make out that they're somehow our rivals to make themselves look more important. They're not important, they're a joke club and they've got arguably the shittest fans in the league. Edit: I realise that you're trying to say that, for all my reasons, the best thing to do is ignore them but I can't. I genuinely hate them (in the football sense).
  18. Beardsley- decent read but nothing exciting in there. SBR- good read Roy Keane- canny
  19. Bolton, Chelsea, Liverpool, Sunderland, Tottenham. EDIT: shit, I forgot Middlesbrough. Such a nothing club, they didn't even register when I read their name. Switch for Bolton.
  20. For some reason, I had him down as a younger player than he is. I must have got him mixed up with Cicinho.
  21. Thought Spurs were potentially the best bet of the day (taking the canny odds into account).
