If it's any consolation to those seeking to have a go at our great leader, £18.7m profit is still a pretty hefty whack, considering our total turnover.
  2. I don't really get this attitude. International football adds a different dimension and area of interest in the game. We can get into debates about who should be selected, how they should play etc And in particular, this post-World cup England team is capable of some decent football. We just need to sort the defence out.
  3. Despite what looks like modest natural ability, Kane's decision-making and ability to be in the right place at the right time really marks him out.
  4. Only saw the last 15 minutes, but I thought Kane looked good. You never know whether players are going to be inhibited and nervous when they move up to international level, but he just played his natural game. Promising.

That new guy at Palace is doing well. Let's give him a try.

I've not seen Derby recently, but last season they were playing some decent football and were a bit unlucky not to go up. He's not a very sexy appointment, but we could do worse.
  7. Carrick's inclusion is a reflection of the fact that our other CM players tend to be attacking rather than defensive, and we need someone in an anchoring position. I don't think Henderson or Delph fit the bill - Mason is worth a look. Even Carrick isn't ideally suited, and of course we need to bring someone else through.
  8. Andy Cole was the first black player that achieved hero status here, and that changed attitudes quite dramatically.
  9. I don't think Ince will ever make the full England team anyway. Not unless his Dad is the manager. Incidentally, Ryan Mason has impressed me this season. I'd give him a run out - he might well be a better option than Henderson.
  10. I wouldn't say that Janmaat has been that good tbh. He's had his moments going forward, but has looked a bit vulnerable defensively, and I wouldn't say he's top four material.
  11. Bit of a nearly man this, isn't he? Ayoze has established himself, and Armstrong has definite potential. I'd rather we added a different kind of striker.

I can't remember seeing such a spectacular walkout that early into a game. They need a good result quick or they've had it.
  13. I'm not confident about our CBs handling Lukaku's strength. So not optimistic. But our Jack will come back refreshed and play a blinder.

Well at the moment, he looks great until the ball comes to him. I think nerves are playing a part, because he is snatching at the chances that come his way. He's also getting bullied by defenders, despite his size, as though he's still getting used to the different things that referees over here will allow. I've not given up hope entirely, but I'm getting pretty close unfortunately.
  15. Sherwood does carry this confident air about him, as though he's already a proven success, which is quite irritating.
  16. Fair enough. But it was the wind-up smiley that I was referring to.
  17. Ian, you really have crossed to the other side, haven't you? Such a disappointment.
  18. Top quality? Come on. There's not a lot to choose between him, Haidara and Dummett. Santon was given a lot of chances, but didn't make the sort of improvements that you'd want to see in a young player. Heard you saw worse in the 80s; can you confirm? Paul Stimson springs to mind. Others of my vintage will confirm. Seriously though, isn't this a case of Mbiwa-itis? Anyone who the club doesn't want must be good.

  20. Smith was a good player in his early days at Leeds, but injury robbed him of what little natural pace he had.
  21. For true shitness, you had to be around in the 80s.
  22. Words fail, again. Great. Keep it up.
  23. I agree. The way the ball came at him, it was right under his feet and he had to get rid of it somehow, right away.
  24. Is "clumsy" really doing his appalling like of application real justice? Well, as I said, I thought he showed a bit more application than he normally does. But his touch on the ball is terrible and he wastes so many good situations.
  25. I thought he put in more effort than usual tonight, but he's still an exceptionally clumsy player.
