  1. Sanchez, Ramsey and Ozil all playing badly. Only Wilshere seems to be able to handle the way Dortmund close the space down, and even then only just. I'd bring on the Ox.

His first touch looks a bit erratic for a lone striker. Gambling on the likes of Ayoze or Armstrong feels dodgy, but we may have to.

    John Carver

Carver should not have sworn at the supporters, but I never have much time for fans who climb on their high horse when something like this happens. Just take a look at some of the stuff that gets written on here.

    Harry Redknapp

I don't remember Harry saying it was unfair when QPR were up against clubs that had spent less.
  5. I thought we played better after Rooney went off. He now looks a bit slow compared to his younger team-mates. I'm starting to think the unthinkable. Sturridge is so frustrating. He has a lot of ability, but he can't resist the flashy option. Good performance all round.
  6. Some good passing movements by our lads. Promising.
  7. I'm not sure why he dispensed with the Anita-Colback- Sissoko combination, which I think has looked promising. It was probably to accommodate De Jong in a new formation, but the defence looked exposed. As he admitted himself, he's still trying to get the right blend. I thought it was poor defending for the first two goals. Colo turned his back as he came out to try and block the first shot, and neither he nor Colback moved for the second.
  8. It looks like QPR are determined to repeat the same mistakes.
  9. I think he's enjoying the drama and will probably stay.
  10. It'll be Wor Jack soon. Be prepared. My next prediction - Wor Pards (Not really)
  11. The second one has a hole in which the attacking midfielder likes to play.
  12. This is a good point actually. Not sure what can be done about it. It can't be good for a young player's confidence to move to a big club and then be out of the first team picture for a long time. Wright-Phillips was a very promising player but that move to Chelsea seemed to have a long-lasting effect on his development. I don't think Glen Johnson has completely recovered from his Chelsea experience either. It'll be interesting to see how Rodwell gets on now.
  13. Jack of all trades, master of none ...is the wrong way to look at it. It's a team game, and he adds something to the team.
  14. Colback's all-round qualities are a real asset, because whatever situation he finds himself in, he can make a reasonably good fist of it. He's not a specialist creative player who can't tackle, or a defensive player who can't pass. It's also easier to get the right blend in midfield, with players like Colback. We have three great young midfielders in Wilshere, the Ox and Barkley. We need someone behind them to hold things together. Henderson is the front runner, but he hasn't made an overwhelming case, so even though I wasn't expecting a call-up for Colback at this point, I can see why Hodgson at least wants to take a look at him.

    Emmanuel Rivière

It's hard to say at the moment. I've seen Riviere scuffing his shot a couple of times, but in each case, it's been on his weaker foot, and he's really had to fight to create the shooting opportunity. Nerves may be kicking in as well, like he's trying too hard. Other aspects of his game have been pretty good, and shooting is one skill that I think can be effectively worked on. Pitching Chucky in at this stage feels like panic, as though anybody's got to be better. I suspect as well that there are fitness issues with Chucky at the moment.
  16. From the point of view of the competition, it was a bit worrying that Liverpool played so well but still ended up with a comprehensive beating.
  17. I believe it was a very average pencil sharpener with no special qualities.
  18. Welbeck? We should be so lucky. He'd be £15m well spent, particularly considering he can play in any attacking role. Having said that, if Everton and Spurs are in for him, we stand no chance.
  19. Basically, his touch on the ball and his passing is better than many people realised. So many on here go with the idea that poor results and performances are a good thing, because that way we'll be rid of Pardew. Very naive, but we're all entitled to a view. The trouble is that anything that's positive tends to get dismissed, often with rather contrived lines of reasoning.
  20. Riviere's "shot" and the volley Ayoze blazed over. and Gouffy at the far post in the first half.

He's held the ball up reasonably well, and put in a lot of effort, which is good to see. Not much else has happened, but he's not had many good opportunities to score, and the team is still coming together. I think we'll have a better chance to judge him when he's playing with De Jong, who should be able to link with him better than Gouff or Cabella.
  22. We created a few opportunities, but snatched at them. On another day, that would have been a 2-0 win. We need that first goal to settle our nerves.
  23. We've wasted a few good situations, with Remy the main culprit. We need a goal to relax us.
