    Relegationometer

That reasoning for me to think that we may not be relegated just doesn't cut it anymore. I would usually think to myself 'we may be bad, but there are still a few worse teams than us'. But I seriously think we are now one of those teams that fans of say Pompey will think that they are better than so should be safe. I'll give us an 8.5 on the relegationometer, what a dire mess we are in.
  2. I'd happily take a manager such as Steve Bruce at this moment in time, which 3 years ago would have been laughable. Although I don't even think we can attract a manger of that quality in this mess. We ended up with Joe fucking Kinnear as our temporary manager, makes me angry thinking about it.
  3. One of the most depressing games I've ever been to. We're a joke of a club, I can't see any light at the end of the tunnel, just darkness. Apathy is going start to set in for me personally, which may save me a bit of heartache tbh as I just don't know how the clubs going to get out of this rot.
  4. We are only going on about this because we were totally outclassed by them on the pitch, which can be seen as a sad state of affairs having the only thing going for us is our outsinging of them, however I personally don't give a fuck, and was proud that our support was in top voice yesterday as it's the only thing I can take away from the game.
  5. Blow a 2 goal lead against Stoke at home one week, then the next beat Pompey 0 - 3, Fucking Newcastle eh.
  6. The stewards are fighting a losing battle, as soon as they try and get people to sit, 'Stand up if you love the toon' get's aired. What ever they try gets the fans riled up, its just not going to happen.
  7. Sunderland 1 - 4 Bolton mackems.gif
  8. Should set up a Pay Pal page with the left over donations going towards the Bobby Robson Foundation.
  9. Some Enrique's short and easy passes were a bit sloppy, but he seemed to nail a lot of the more complex ones. Colo around 30+ was really good for me, some of this world class quality that was talked about is starting to shine through. Duff did play well, but it somes looks as if he's a headless chicken, like he just doesn't know what to do with the ball when around the box, but he's improving greatly from last season in my eyes. Jonas and Oba were class, Ameobi improving with every game.
  10. Almunia should have saved it imo. It was a brilliant goal, but because it basically went in due to a keeper error, it makes it a bit less special.
  11. I would probably give him a second chance, if only to help stave off relegation, but the fact that a very large amount of fans won't means that the atmosphere would be too hostile around the club. I just hope he sells, preferably to a multi-billionaire, soonish.
  12. Wholeheartedly agree. It was just brilliant to see the whole crowd get behind the team, which has been lacking in recent weeks due to obvious reasons. The players did seem to respond brilliantly, we were basically the 11th man tonight, which is why only near the end did the toll of having only 10 players surface. Lets hope it continues.
  13. Jarrow. So South Shields out of that poll.
  14. Sounds like fantastic news to me. New owners with links to the fans are buying the club, Keegan or Shearer must surely be managers in waiting with plenty of money to spend in the transfer market. If NUSC can pull this off I will definitley hold my hands up in shame that I was sceptical this could ever be achieved. I will be absolutely amazed if this is achieved, still seems one of the most unrealistic ideas I've ever heard though. I would be dead set against the idea however, as I said in a thread a few weeks ago, it would be a massive calamity.
  15. I feel the same way about the article. I do believe we have a 'role' in the club that is more prevalent than most, if any, others. I'm stating to slowly regret my part in the anti - Ashley chants, not because of him, but because of how it makes people perceive us. If I was in a position to be able to by a club, and didn't support Newcastle or any other team, I'd probably try to stay well clear of us. I know we have the (ever decreasing) potential to become a great club if conditions allowed it, but the road to get there will be very tough for any potential owners. I seriously think we've royally fucked up this time, everyone, the club and fans, which will take a hell of a lot to get out of. Most decent managers will now have set perceptions of the club and likely wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Seven managers in 11 years (with SBR taking 5 of those years) isn't exactly a record that would sit well with good managers.
  16. Think you missed the point (completely !) I was highly p*****d off by - not a few either - some sneering "racism" at anyone who doubted the authenticity or desirability of the "Nigerian Consortium" So when this bunch threw their hat into the ring I couldn't resist rattling their cages....and as for the South Africans themselves - never met a bad one yet. And the crap they have to put up with from pedestal lecturers they behave with staggering patience (I couldn't take such moronic "I've been told what I think" crap without lashing out) Which was exactly my point a few days ago before the "Guardian clones" got on their high horses. I've just read the OP again, and yeah, I completely missed the point.
  17. I don't think it was racist the reservations people have of the Nigerian consortium, slightly stereotyped, ai, but not at all racist
  18. Thats basically how I feel. We've got nothing of worth to actually compete for, other than mid-table mediocrity at best, so 17th/12th doesn't really matter and the first garuntees we would stay up.

    Save Newcastle United

The fact that 90% of the people who have posted in this thread thinks the idea is laughable makes the idea even less likely to get going whatsoever. 300,000 people are supposed to buy £1000 worth of shares, firstly I really don't think 100,000, never mind 300,000, people care about this club enough to even contemplate that type of investment, even if it was to bring garunteed success, and the fact its a shit idea makes it even more of a joke.

    Save Newcastle United

For sake of argument, if this did go ahead, we wouldn't have the financial clout to compete realisticly. Also the fact that we wouldn't be to raise the target on there of £300m means it's a non - starter.
  21. Yeah, when Shepard brought in managers such as Souness, I was angry but I half expected it. However the direction in which the club seemed to be going under Ashley was one that I was mildly happy with, debt repaid and stability with some good quality low cost players (although overall, the transfer window left a lot to be desired for if we were supposed to be serious contenders for top 7/8). But all that hope (even though it was mild in general terms compared to other teams, in terms of how soap operaish our club is, it can be considered a massive amount) was shattered last Tuesday and Thursday, and it now has come to light that we've been lied to by the regime. It is one big f*** up, which has overruled for me, the progress made by Ashley and co. , as it has drained my faith of them running the club competantly.
  22. Mick, if that is true about what the letter said, then I think it must have been a ploy by Llambias to give the impression that Keegan wasn't willing to comprimise, and an attempt to shift more blame onto Keegan for the whole debacle than is deserved. i.e. We tried to meet with him to sort all of this out, but he declined and resigned. Thats obviously only an opinion but its one I can easily believe with the current lot in charge.
  23. I don't think it will be too bad, but there will be arguments, and a few will most likely spill into fights. I remember when the Bellamy/Souness incident occurred, some lads not far from where I sit started singing 'Craig Craig Bellamy Tralalala...'. That nearly errupted into a fight, over something not nearly as major as this. Although fans were largely divided for that incident, the consensus amongst say 80% of fans for this are anti - Wise, Lliambas and Ashley (although not as much as Wise).
