Do you actually read anyone's post other than your own? Not one person on this board has defended our transfer window/Ashley - some just aren't as negative about it as others. In that case they should be negative. If only for the con trick these lying bastards tried to pull by pretending we wanted another striker when they clearly didn't.
-
A lot less that it could have if we'd got the all important striker which the club themselves said we still need. As it is, other teams have strengthened at our expense such as Sunderland and Fulham picking up strikers who were available and ready. Mid table at best.
-
In which case it's Ashley's fault for putting an incompetent in charge.
-
Well I thought they'd recognise at least that we are massively, massively short in that area and at least make an effort. Bendtner has gone on loan to the Mackems for f***s sake You're forgetting that this regime don't give a flying f*** about this club. Surely even Ashley must realise that not buying a striker means we will be lower down the table and lose out on a lot of money (perhaps even relegation if those around us spend well). He's just gambling that we'll do enough to stay up for the minimum investment. Can't see how anyone can stick up for this regime now. There isn't any defence of this regime. Anyone who does so after the despicable way they led everyone on that we were in for a striker when we clearly weren't in any serious sense of the term is deluded.

£600k net spend and we've managed to bring in Cabaye, Ba, Marveaux, Abeid, Elloitt & Santon. That's canny good in my view. All well and true, but it's not about that, is it? Exactly, it's about the other money we could have used to strengthen, instead of doing the bare minimum for £660k. c***s Well, I'm happy with what we have managed to sign. Seemed most people were yesterday too when the Santon news broke. Not going to get angry about something that hasn't happened, and let that distract from the good we have managed this window. Unless, of course, people were waiting for a 'Trophy Signing'? Anything over the magic £10m marker seems to get people really excited, even if they don't know much about the player (Ruiz). Not really about a 'Trophy Signing' either is it? About a necessary signing we haven't made since January, with £35m in the bank to do it. If we were going to sign a striker, it would have happened before today. Very unlikely we'll ever do incoming business on 'Transfer Deadline Day'. Think about our owner, think about how he works - he wants the best value available for his money. Values double up and go beyond that on Transfer Deadline Day. In that case it would probably have made sense to get the striker in earlier. Like everyone was suggesting.

The latest is Socheaux told us to fuck right off.
-
If he's got any sense he'll dissociate with everything that's gone on in this window and just say it was out of his hands.
-
fuck off you speccy fucking twat

Except for the six or so strikers we tried to sign this window? I'm disappointed we haven't gotten a striker in as well, but we've had a really good window otherwise. We've brought in some real quality. Get real man. When a two bit club like Fulham are signing quality forwards ahead of us something is seriously wrong.
-
At the end of the day Ashley and his inept crew have proven the pessimists right. Even after a fairly good start they managed to fuck up the window by not making any serious attempt to sign the striker which would have made all the difference. Utter garbage.
-
Embarrassing. Can't believe we do this nearly every window. I'd far rather they just said we have the players we need and won't be signing anyone else.
-
I'm just going to wait until we've heard something official. Looks like he's going to Fulham but deadline day deals can spring the odd last minute surprise.
-
Cheers lads. It's been slow as hell for me as well but seems a bit better last few minutes.

How do you know that? It's just common sense that a player would find it more difficult to make a decision in such a short space of time. Yes, but that's not quite "he'd have chosen us any day of the week". But I said "probably" chosen us any day of the week. The fact that he's delayed signing for Fulham would suggest that it might well be the case. we could have put this bid in months ago. infact, we could've bid for gameiro, gervinho, erdinc, cisse, maiga and ruiz on the same day, months ago. and we'd have gotten one of them. That's what I said in the first place. We should have been in there weeks ago.

Mortifying that he'd probably have chosen us any day of the week if we'd shown a serious interest. If he doesn't sign it's only because we came in so late like desperate wankers.
-
I think Fulham are favourites but the fact the Twente chairman accepted our bid after initially saying it was too late would suggest Ruiz must have wanted to speak to us. We are still in there until he says no.
-
For me anyway Me as well but better than nothing. Bassong would have been a better shout.
-
As if. It's clearly bollocks.
-
They're going to try and intercept Bendtner's taxi and get him to drive to Newcastle instead
-
Looks to have no pace at all. Shows how desperate we're getting.
