    Nile Ranger

Ranger has all the physical attributes to make a fine striker, I have doubts over his decision making though. Gazza was thick as two planks but with the ball at his feet he was a genius. Ranger runs around a lot but he's barely hit a decent shot on goal in the time he's been on the pitch.

That should be the only real criteria used. If he was banging in goals you can guarantee everyone's moral standards would suddenly nosedive.
  3. Zog's left footed. If Martinez is playing him on the right then either they've got a helluva left winger or Zog didn't do the job he wanted.
  4. I don't think he was given much of a run as a winger when he was here other than Roeder's first season in charge before Duff arrived. In those few months he was outstanding. But he will be better having seen the grass isn't always greener on the other side so yes the spell at Wigan will have done him good.

    Alan Pardew

I remember when Keegan sold Cole, our main striker we struggled like hell despite having a team of good quality players which had finished 3rd in the premier the previous season. Getting results with no strike force is no mean achievement. It seems easy only in hindsight.
  6. Not in the air. His confidence seems to have taken a knock and he doesn't come for the high balls as much as he should for a big lad. But then Harper barely comes for any.

    Alan Pardew

The decision to sack Hughton seemed ludicrous at the time...but then the decision to hire him in the first place was also considered daft. Ashley bashing aside (because that really is a whole other subject) Pardew has done well to this point. He might well wreck all of that with a bad summer's buying but then that hasn't happened yet.

    1. Pardew said he was 'on the verge of being late' a few times, as I recall. 2. Nolan said he wasn't bothered about staying behind to work on his finishing. Does that equate to 'all offers' to help? 3. 'Clearly still has attitude problems' - is this based on the Sun story? Not saying he isn't a bit of a tosser but I think you're going a bit far with the above. He wouldn't have been given the contract he has if the club didn't think he was worth the effort eventually. Pardew said he has IMROVED his timekeeping to the verge of being late, its common in most jobs to be expected to start work on time not just be able to get there on time. Yes Nolan said that but its other stories on here and off people irl about his attitude around training as if he is too good to get help. Someone posted a story iirc saying it wasnt just Nolan offering a few months ago. Actually got nothing to do with the Sun story whatsoever, its overblown as i have already said. Again if the above doesnt fall under an attitude problem along with his past offences and public manner then i guess i must be alone in thinking so. You are right mind, he was given the contract no doubt on the crazy assumption that he would actually try and put the graft in and earn it. At the minute it doesnt seem that way and theres only so much time and effort you can waste on him before you cut your losses. You say it has nothing to do with the Sun story, but then why pipe up now if it doesn't? Pardew has been more positive of late about Ranger...maybe he's doing it to get the best out of him? The club captain has been seen out and about sinking a few pints according to reports here. He had Andy Carroll shagging birds in his pad while the wife was out IIRC and his place was torched during that period. If that's someone doing a good job as a minder then maybe we should put Nile under Barton's wing? maybe i piped up because this thread is awash with recent views of Nile Ranger and i decided to add my personal opinion. Apologies for giving him until the end of the season to prove he has improved his attitude rather than jump on him earlier. I mostly avoid this thread anyway, cringeworthy at times(its title for a start) The rest of your post is just crap, the other players you mention apply themselves every day for NUFC, sorry you dont understand that subtle difference....... I am just wondering why - if his attitude hasn't improved - Pardew has inferred it has, and has in fact been talking about giving him more game time in the last couple of matches. Maybe it's all a cunning plan to confuse everybody when in fact he's planning on bombing him out first chance he gets.
  9. gets picked because his distribution is much better. enrique is a very english type attacking full back whose basic distribution lets him down too much compared those others. His distribution only lets him down because he ends up holding the ball too long due to lack of movement in front of him IMO. Most quality clubs will have observed how he holds the ball so well under pressure at left back and releases it in tight spaces very well within the triangle he forms with Colo and Jonas.

    Fraser Forster

These are both talented keepers who will have any amount of suitors if we decide to sell. Just look at the number of premier clubs who have far worse keepers and that much should be obvious. Krul despite his odd blunder still looks better than Robert Green from West Ham and he was England's first choice in the World Cup. If we are going to lose a keeper from the three then it should be old man Harper. The other two are only going to get better.

    Fraser Forster

Is Forster unhappy with being loaned out for another year to Celtic? He seems ok with it from what I have read. Krul has made the odd gaffe but he's generally looked pretty solid. It's daft to talk of loaning him out, he'd just ask for a transfer.
  13. The fact he isn't just adds to my suspicion that the treacherous bastard is eyeing the exit!
  14. I would be surprised if we are still ion for Ireland tbh, and if it was me a right back would be on the list. We've got three at the club but none of them are up to much.
  15. What makes it worse is that HE told us that all of the Carroll money would be spent on the team/squad/club. Now he's got the begging bowl out. Not good at all. If he's honest he'll admit he hasn't got a clue what's going on, not that it'll happen of course Isn't it a bit early to start getting depressed on the basis of a few vague quotes?

    Patrick Van Aanholt

This thread does seem to be based on nothing much really.
  17. TRon

    Fraser Forster

Another year's loan sounds ideal to me. By the following year I would imagine Harper will move aside and Krul and Forster can fight it out for the no 1 jersey.

    Nile Ranger

Because I still see some promise in there. Like I said earlier I'd rather get shot of a has been who behaves impeccably given the choice.
  19. TRon

    Patrick Van Aanholt

I don't think either of them are strong enough physically for the demands of a full season at left back in the premier.

    Nile Ranger

Andy Carroll is also a massive tool and in fact caused real injury to more than one person. It didn't stop Liverpool form spending £35m on him or England calling him up. What sort of message does that send to young kids?
  21. TRon

    Patrick Van Aanholt

I could see it happening. He's a talented lad but probably not strong enough to play for a side like Chelsea on a regular basis...unlike Enrique who could go right into any side in the world.

    Bollocks. 5-1 mate. 5-1

You are right. Yet strangely I would kick Lovenkrands and his perfectly behaved arse out of the club before Ranger. Strange that.
  24. Poyet's not daft, he knows a prospect when he sees one. I've a feeling if Lua Lua makes progress he'll become a goal scoring winger like N'Zogbia. Just hope we don't move him on without giving him a run first. Although to be fair, Pardew has already singled him out as one to watch so I'm happy about that.
