you don't think we needed to cut costs and reorganise financially ? I think we did. If the Carroll money is invested in quality though we can afford to aim higher.
-
If we want to convince our best players to stay here we need to become a club that sets it's sights higher. What are we hoping to achieve next season, or the season after that? The likes of Enrique or Barton want to be playing in Europe every year but the club's focus until now has been to cut costs. You'd like to think the Carroll money will allow us to be a bit more ambitious but it will need a change of mindset not just a bonus windfall from selling a big player.

That's one of the reasons I'd be hesitant. They'd both be seeking the same role. Zoggy has a licence to roam at Wigan, and he's found it much easier to get on the ball in space and run at the opposition. With us, he was stuck out wide and more restricted. You could possibly play HBA and Zoggy behind the striker in a 433, but that may leave us a bit light when the opposition have the ball. Of the two, there's no doubt in my mind that HBA has got more to offer. If he comes back here it would have to be to play wide left, Pardew has already said that he sees HBA playing off the main striker.

Especially if he's set up a last minute equaliser against your favourite London team.
-
He's not going to get into the Spanish squad by playing shite is he? If he does leave on a free he'll probably have far more options anyway, so I don't think he'll be too fussed at staying an extra year.

The moments gone. Now it will just sound shit

Shall I say it or you?

The ink on King Kenny's contract has hardly dried and the results start turning sour. sweet

I remember Butt coming out in print and inferring N'Zogbia was one of those who were a problem for Roeder. N'Zogbia basically got Roeder the full-time job with his performances in the spring of 06. Meanwhile Butt was off getting Birmingham relegated. You couldn't make it up. Zog's performances at the end of that season make a mockery of all this rubbish about him improving as a player since we left. The goals he scored, the crosses...the tackles and the dribbling. No he hasn't improved out of all recognition...most people were either blind or just didn't like him.
-
I really hope Hughton doesn't go there. I despise West Ham as a club and I really don't want to despise Hughton.
-
How do you work that out? Enrique's playing in his natural position and is 1st choice. Can you spot the difference?
-
I think he would have. Now they'll have to pay him off and his replacement. Ha ha..
-
which is why unless we get offered daft money I believe we should make him see out his contract. Fuck Kenny Dalglish and the Kop.
-
I remember Butt coming out in print and inferring N'Zogbia was one of those who were a problem for Roeder. We sold Zog and kept Butt who was one of the good attitude stars who took us down. That worked out well. Zog kicked up a stink because he knew he was too good to play left back. He was right.
-
It wasn't hindsight, some of us knew he'd be a good player. Well, those of us without psychic powers are wrong sometimes. It doesn't take psychic powers, you just need to be able to see talent when it's staring you in the face.
-
couldn't happen to a nicer team.
-
Oh but he's a headless chicken according to many when he was here. Wigan stay up and I don't think we get him.
-
Just scored himself out of a move to Newcastle.
-
agreed really like martinez 3rd'd. Tries to get his teams playing decent stuff too rather than kick and rush. Fourthing this shit. I feel the same way. so do I but if they stay up less chance of us getting Zog so let them go down I say.
-
For all the talk of how good he is defensively, we would miss him going forward just as much. He IS our left side, most of our best play comes through him.
-
why have you included Enrique when you know he's already gone? Seems like you're already setting yourself up for a fall when he moves in July. We could easily make Enrique play out his final year here. Liverpool probably won't offer enough money to make it worth our while selling IMO. Unless we get the right price we should keep him.
-
Excellent. They go down and Zog is on his way here
-
I thought he should have been coming out to claim a few of the crosses which were around the six yard box...then when he finally did he fucked it up spectacularly. For a big lad he doesn't dominate the area as much as he should. But he still looks a good keeper in many respects.

I think it makes a difference when you have some mobility all over the pitch. Usually Ranger is ploughing a lone furrow up front, today when he came on there was Lua Lua on one side and Sammy Ameobi down the other and the three of them were stretching Chelsea with their movement.
-
Same here. He had a really strong game today, him and Colo stifled their attack pretty much.
