So, given that you haven't seen the Newcastle youth teams basically what you're saying is that you've no idea as to whether we'll be in a better position than Sunderland to promote kids into the first team squad? No, but the Sunderland Academy kids were sufficiently collectively better to come top by a significant margin. The main point is that if Newcastle are going to speedily return to the Premier League, it will be more likely with talented players experienced at the Championship level rather than youngsters, no matter how promising, who are still learning thier trade (in my humble opinion). I wonder where we will find those talented players with experience seeing as we couldn't attract them in January when we could offer them a Premiership place?

Can't see why Spurs would want him when they got Bent, Defoe and Keane who are all better then Oba and Man City will be looking for strikers much better than him as well. There's your problem. Ashley is supposed to be a gambler. If he thinks backing Shearer with decent money is a worse bet than giving the job to some Del boy who'll do what he's told, he'd be better off playing the slot machines in his local pub.

Point-scoring aside I think it's agreed by most here that Martins career here is finished. I doubt Martins wants to play in the Championship and I doubt he's the sort of character Shearer wants here. I would like to apologise about Mike Ashley.

My arse. He's hidden in almost every game he's played since he arrived. Scared to demand the ball, scared to attempt to cross, scared to try to beat his opponent, scared to have a shot. I sense a theme in this post. It's true though, he is one of those players that goes missing, although he's pulled his finger out since going to LB.

Kadar looks like the closest to a call up, I reckon he could do a Bassong if given the chance.

The other thing with the clauses is it acts as motivation to the players, those sitting on fat contracts don't want to have them cut in half by relegation. I honestly can't believe we've been that dumb not to include them. I can.

That's all well and good but it doesn't change the fact he doesn't get enough crosses in or score enough goals. Even at Championship level you have to do those things. A good attitude is ok but it's not worth 70 grand a week.
