  1. And people were complaining about our negotiating team. Well and truly shafted Deportivo there! Not to mention that looks like two quality signings past the post if this one goes through. The Ashley bashers will be all quiet on the western front tonight methinks.
  2. I think there were a few who pointed it out back then but the wall of hatred was overwhelming in it's response. Guthrie looks like a nice passer, but he doesn't look like an attacking midfielder, and looks too slight to be a holding one. Maybe he can develop into that role though.
  3. My view of Milner is that he is a hit and hope crosser. He'll swing them in, some good, some bad, but he usually doesn't have much idea who he's aiming them at.
  4. still created our best opening though Who? milner at the end, unfortunately he only had smith in the box though Unfortunately it's typical Milner though. Looks great until it's time to deliver the final pass or strike on goal. He must have hit 20 crosses today, and I don't think he found a Newcastle player with one. The final one which he ballooned high and slow sums him up really. Milner:11 crosses 0 found one of our players. Who's to find tbf? The pair of clowns in the middle don't even look to attack the ball. You could have Beckham swinging them in and they'd still be marked out of the game by anyone who owns a pair of boots. That's fair enough, but Beckham's crosses would still look dangerous.
  5. We also need a striker IMO, preferably a mobile target man. We only have Oba and Owen at the moment. I refuse to acknowledge Ameobi and Smith as options.

  7. Milner looked lively to the naked eye, but in actual fact was shit. Guthrie looks tidy in a non-threatening sort of way. Jonas looks F-A-S-T
  8. On the plus side, having attended so many hearings, Joey's listening skills must surely be much improved
  9. Jiminez and Wise must be on an each way commission for us and Spurs. Whichever club signs the player they get a cut
  10. Martins. Doesn't mean he's fantastic, but you could put him in a mediocre team (ours) and he could nake an impact. Owen needs a decent team which we currently don't have.
  11. The only thing I would say is that the president does seem to be a bit of a loon. Even if they're financially fucked I could see him pulling the plug on the deal just to be top man. No 1 Nutcase as it were.
  12. *Yawn* ok so Viduka's not fit for the start of the season. What a surprise. A mobile centre forward should be part of the re-building plans in any case. I'm assuming that's why we allegedly were interested in Gomis.

    Coloccini Poll

Maybe we should put Skirge in charge of doing all of our fkn transfers... Yes I can see it now.. Skirge: What is it you want? ££10m? I'll give you £12m! You've changed your mind and you want £15m now? Ok but only if you agree to take a £2m golden handshake for Luque. It's a deal!!

    Coloccini Poll

If he signs for someone else it won't be because they are offering more money. If Spurs come in they will match our bid at best. At the moment we have put in the highest bid so what is the point in offering more , other than look like desperate tits/West Ham? (Delete as appropriate).
  15. Still our best midfielder and one of the best in the PL on his day. Now he HAS to prove it like never before. Once he's started proving it I'll start giving him credit for it. Rather than say "Welcome back" I'd say it's mor approriate to say "start earning your money and eraning some respect you prick. We backed you now, give us something in return other than bad headlines"
  16. I find it ludicrous tht we are supposed to welcome him back tbh. The truth is we are having to keep him here because we will lose a lot of money by sacking him seeing as the shitbag refused to take a pay cut. He is being paid far too much for what he has produced, both on and off the pitch. His move to Newcastle nearly stalled when he wanted his signing on fee from City remember. I bet Ashley regrets paying it now.
  17. I am. £1.5m on a youngster abroad buys you a much better class of player than over here. Besides, he sounded like he really wanted to sign. We need more players who get starry-eyed at the prospect of playing at St James.
  18. Sounds like the deal is pretty close. Deportivo are probably stalling in the hope some other team comes in like Spurs (as usual). If Coloccini is sold on the idea of coming here now - and he might well be with Spidey recently signing - this should go through IMO.
  19. I'd never heard of him, like most people. Shame the club failed to land him when nobody had heard of him, and then failed again when everybody had though ? That would suggest he's a helluva player which many top teams were after. Actually, you were the only one who hadn't heard of him by then tbh.
  20. I'm sure we could make big money signings if we really needed to. In the past we made plenty of spectacular signings like Shearer, Ferguson, Luque, Owen, Robert and Boumsong. What we need to ask is has this spending been reflected in either results or revenue?
  21. One of my key arguments for backing the appointment of Keegan mid-season last year was that it would give us plenty of time to prepare for a summer of re-building. While it's still slow progress at the moment, I would expect us to bring at least 3-4 decent players in before the close of the transfer window. If that doesn't happen then there would need to be questions asked...IF thatdoesn't happen.

Sunderland won't get him cheap, but they are over-paying to get players through the door. That is how Chimbonda and Kaboul will end up there. It might not be good for them long term but they are improving their team without a doubt. You can bet most of these players will sign for Sunderland then come house-hunting in Newcastle.
  23. Nicky Butt can do that but he doesn't call himself an "attacking" midfielder. You asked what Mick was talking about, I answered. Thanks.
