    Martins

Shola giving Martins a painful looking wedgie there
  2. It would be nice to see UV or NE5 enjoy a good result here once in a while rather than revel in possible relegation scenarios only.

    Steven Taylor

Coloccini took responsibilty for Carew for most of the night. That was the big job tbh.
  4. They might not have worked brilliantly as a partnership but Shola and Martins destroyed Villa's centere backs over the course of 90 mins. Let's give credit where it's due for a change.

    Martins

Actions always speak louder than words.

    Jose Enrique

    shagged Milner all night tbh.
  7. That was the best performance from a Newcastle side I've seen for the last six months. I am just so proud of the lads tonight. Today the players played for their shirt and the badge. Monumental.
  8. Tonight's the night for Damien the Duff to finally show the doubters (me) the V sign. Come on Duff...a good pre-season...some nifty performances in one or two games, along with a stinker against the mackems. Now's the time to tell the sinpers to fuck right off by putting Villa in their place. Will he, won't he? I say no.
  9. I agree we don't need to be over attack we just need to pressure them high up when they have the ball. Only Barry and A.Young are what i would class as good passing players, the rest will be prone to errors if they are hurried. We need to be offensive without being irresponsible. Unfortunately this sort of thinking is far beyond JFK. The idea of fighting fire with fire by using our quick players is a good one although I said yesterday I'd prefer Zog in for Duff in this one. I just have a horrible feeling Duff is going to fail to show up tonight, Zog's got a bit more fight in him if the going gets tough. Which it will.
  10. I'd put Coloccini in the 'trusted' camp. I think this is his type of game, playing against nippier, ball-playing attackers is what he'll be used to. If he plays Taylor, he'll get the job of trying to block Carew. You'd think that's how it would pan out wouldn't you? Except somehow Colo always seems to be the one attacking the headers while Taylor is usually running backwards towards the goal line.
  11. There'll be a few butts getting kicked tonight as well
  12. Even we'll do well to be relegated by then.
  13. Big, big game against a team who will test us physically as well as mentally. The players I trust to stand up and be counted tonight: Beye Given Barton Jonas Possible heroes: Coloccini Enrique Martins anyone else will be a pleasant surprise.
  14. The Les Ferdinand malarkey boils my piss as well. When he came on and scored against us for Leicester there were gimps in the crowd cheering and he was scoring for the opposition. He couldn't hit a barn door for us when it really mattered in 1996. Good point that actually. What was it, 4 goals from January onwards that season? He scored 21 between August and December and then 5 from January to May. Basically he Choked when the heat was turned up. I think this misses the point a) He wasn't the only player who "choked" during the run in. b) He is popular because he always gave 100% commitment, never hid and has been an excellent ambassador for the club since. Popularity with the fans is rarely based on ability alone Rob Lee also "choked" when the heat was on. Hit something like 15 goals before Christmas and then disappeared from view in the last three months iirc.
  15. Nothing would please me more than to see Martin O'Neill leave St James park devastated after a crushing defeat.
  16. He does seem to be very popular with the players in a Chubby Brown sort of way.
  17. I just don't feel the preparation has been right for this game. Villa's main threat against us is their athleticism, but we are seemingly putting our faith in the old guard, tried and trusted. Zog would be in my line up tomorrow.
  18. I just hope Mike Ashley is making every effort to sell the club at a reasonable price. If there is no buyer found he will not be allowed to run the club like a scrap dealer with JFK running round with a barrow, wheeling and dealing like Del and fucking Rodney.
  19. Joe Kinnear was brought in as a desperate short-term solution for a couple of months. He has no business making long term plans which include either buying or selling players. That really is all there is to it.
  20. Of all the signings last summer, KK seemed to be more enthusiastic about Guthrie than many other signings. Not really sure why you are using Keegan's name to slag off Guthrie in this thread.
  21. You mean the guy who had proved himself a success all over Europe. Nice comparison Bit of a daft comparison like. JFK is a great short term appointment to lift morale, but other than that, Bobby even in his current state has more football nous than Kinnear will have in a lifetime.
  22. To peasepud and other NUSC reps, the fact you guys are admitting that some of the problems are to do with the fact that this organisation is only 6 weeks old just confirms you are perhaps running before you can walk. Maybe you should disengage from making public statements until you are in a position to present a better front?
  23. Or just not interested at that price?
