Not sure it does tbh. Very few clubs will be able to buy a Declan Rice, but you would think we might be one of them with CL funding available. Probably a bit earlier than we thought we'd be competing for top players, but I wouldn't rule it out.

But why would he lie about that? He's basically saying only really good players are going to be on our radar, and that's what they would have to be to get in ahead of some our lads who got us to the CL. Gordon was one of our leading targets in the summer and he's struggled to fight his way in. Obviously we do need to upgrade and improve the team, but that means some really top drawer players will need to be sourced.

I don't think we'll be losing any key players, we'll just add two or three really high class ones and the likes of Almiron, Wilson, ASM etc will be rotated more. We will need two teams anyway, Howe has already said this, so can't see players leaving unless they want out themselves - which could happen if they aren't starting enough games.

Although the video doing the rounds of O'Neil refusing to shake hands with Mad Dog is still funny. Tindall's bemused look like he doesn't know what that's all about is priceless. He must have been winding up their bench something rotten.

I actually thought he was a bit sloppy, but he did pop up in quite advanced positions so you can see he does a lot of box to box stuff which isn't always appreciated.

I don't always agree with you on this, but he looked class for the period of time he was out there. His decision making was really responsible, if anything maybe too responsible. On nights like this he really does look a top player.

He didn't pull up any trees, but he didn't look out of place in midfield, filled in for Joelinton very well on the whole. Job well done really.
