Can see what tmonkey is saying to an extent. He's not world class or anything, but he's by far the best of our CM's and one of those that can drive a team forward when he's playing well.

Because United have the likes of Ronaldo, Nani and Rio perhaps? Much of a muchness tbh.

Nah, Milner's still shite like...

It's a double-cross, mind your arses lads!!

Odds are that this is ultimataly going to be right. Some people I know have sold horses to Barton, they say he's a perfectly lovely and mannerly fella when you're dealing with him and all is going well. Also does a lot of charity work and works with kids as well as far as I know. But then you see these things that he does and it's obvious that there's just something not right with him mentally. If he were just a scumbag then you'd have more hope for him, because there'd be the chance that it would just dawn on him that he's going to lose his career if he doesn't stop being a prick. But with Barton it seems that there's just this switch that gets flicked, something he can't control no matter how much he wants to. Odds are that if we keep him he'll keep his head down and his nose clean for a long while and then, one day, out of seemingly nowhere, what would end up being a harmless altercation with some randomer for most of us will end up with Barton curb-stomping an elderly woman in front of several shocked onlookers. Feel for him, in a way, because I think there's something wrong with him. He needs therapy, like.

Terry Henry Knew I was missing someone. Well, good news for us then if he's not likely going. Make any potential signing a bit easier if we really do want him.
-
Could be hoping he'll get a chance to make an impact in the Euros. What's the French pecking order like? I assume Anelka and Benzema would be ahead of him anyway. Who else? Most likely they just don't want to sell him to a rival so they're looking to wait until an English club comes in with an offer.
-
This. Were people expecting him to get away with a slap on the wrists or something, been blatantly obvious for a while that he's off to prison and we all knew what the offences were. I can see both sides of the arguement tbh. Don't think footballers should be expected to be role models or anything, but at the same time this is some very serious stuff he's been convicted of, and he's obviously a bit of a scumbag at the end of the day. My guess is that we'll be hanging on to him, for the simple fact that I'm sure the club knew this was coming and yet we stuck with him in the team until the end of the season, even once we were safe. No point keeping him in there if we were planning to release him once this inevitable verdict came.

It's been 4 days since the story broke. If it goes on for a couple of weeks then maybe. As for Modric, I'm sure the Mamic Bros always planned to talk to Spurs at some point as well, just their interest wasn't leaked like ours. I doubt teams are making 11th hour bids just to spite us, even Spurs.

That's rich coming from someone who pm'd me looking for a torrent for WWE's Royal Rumble... Richer coming from the guy who sent one back instantly.

Pffft, Prison Break is for fags.

http://www.durfee.net/oz/images/Hill6.jpg Prisoner #45T672, Joseph Anthony Barton. Convicted May 20th, 2008, assault and affray. Sentence: Six months. Up for parole in two.

I reckon he spends the rest of his life behind bars tbh. Someone will mouth off to him when all the cons are out for a bit of exercise and Barton, the complete head-the-ball that he blatantly is, will go for him with a shank. This process keeps repeating itself every month or two until any hope he has of getting out before he's 40 has evaporated. Realising that his football career is finito, he becomes heavily involved in the inside drug trafficking business, using his already accumulated fortune to bankroll a massive new empire. Ultimately, he meets his grim demise aged 46, in a prison re-enactment of MacBeth, when a real knife somehow ends up amongst the props and Barton is felled in front of a cheering crowd of his fellow inmates.

I reckon Chez is on a wind-up here. That said, I fully expect Gomis to sign for Spurs in the near future.
-
Get out. That was pretty rubbish Tooj. More shame on you for not knowing the origins. Nah, more shame on you for trying to apply it where it blatantly doesn't work tbh.

Well if some pundits think he's overrated then he must be like.

Ibrahimovic would be absolutely devestating in a team that has lots of clever, pacey players making runs into the box to feed off him. He's a beast playing with his back to goal. In a sense he's wasted at Inter, who aren't a very mobile team by any means. Would be a great signing for Barca, leading the line with Messi, Bojan and Iniesta all playing off him.
-
I could see Ferguson trying to turn Hargreaves into a right back tbh. Not sure he has the class on the ball that Man U want in their CM's, reckon that's part of the reason he didn't get that many games this season. Whenever he's played RB that I've seen him though he's looked immense. Fabulous engine, great crosser of the ball and defensively very sound. Iniesta hardly had a kick over two legs against him on that side. Obviously there's a few subtleties to the position he'd need to learn, but the qualities are there IMO.

I think it'll be difficult persuading Owen to stay, regardless of who's in charge of the negotiations. We all know what he did to Liverpool, and in all honesty I think he's a snakey little fucker who'll wait to see every option available to him before he seriously considers signing any extension with us. Time will tell I suppose, but I think you're being a bit harsh expecting the board to have sorted his extension by now, knowing what Owen is like.

Watched some when I was out there working last year. It really is at a shocking level. It would struggle to be considered any better than non-league football over here... Hardly a surprise though, is it, considering that over there "soccer" is for the kids that aren't good enough to play American Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey or any other number of sports. As someone who watches a fair bit of NFL, I can tell you that the NFL Europe was a dreadful quality of American Football too.

If I hadn't met him in person, I'd swear Jon was actually David O'Leary.

You forgot N'Zogbia. (If N'Zogbia leaves, keep Milner. Fair enough.) I don't know, I wasn't sure whether another attacking midfielder or a striker was the best way to go. I suppose someone who plays very advanced and has a bit of pace about him would be for the best, in case of injury to Martins. Butt New DM N'Zogbia Barton Geremi Quality Creative Midfielder Owen Martins Viduka New Target Man Type CF Pacey Striker Carroll See, Milner = Victory~!
