  1. Its only competitive because all the teams are worse than shite. As soon as a side comes alone who are even half decent, they romp it. 2004–05 Sunderland 94 2005–06 Reading 106 2006–07 Sunderland 88 2008–09 Wolves 90 All the seasons above we were at a canter by very, very average teams. Sunderland in 2006/7 is the most prime example. Even half decent management of the players we have will get us promoted. Look at the success McCarthey, Coppell, Phil Brown, Billy Davies, Warnock etc. have had it that league.
  2. Exactly what I've been saying. The league is shit. Caldwell and Carr were first choice in promoted sides last year FFS. Sunderland came up with a load of Irish rejects after losing their first 4 games and appointing Keane on August 28th. Not only did they come up, they romped it. I don't believe it when anyone says this league is competitive. West Brom seem to make a good go of coming and going back down consistently. Smith and Barton will be the best partnership in the league. Enrique will be the best left back in the league. Harper will be the best keeper in the league. Steven Taylor will be in the top 3 centre halves in the league. If we can supplement the above with 2 or 3 good signings and then pad the squad out a bit, we could win the league. Could is the operative word of course as we'll need a fuckin manager and owner!
  3. The team were useless. Smith offered more than enough for a Championship team and was lumbered with Butt for that game as well. Smith and Barton as a partnership in this league will be very good. We were useless against Pompey, as always he offered nowt but the occassional aimless run
  4. I thought Smiths performances vs Man Utd and Pompey last year suggested he may still have something persevering with. Lets not forget we're in the Championship now.The standard of midfielders in this league is ridiculously poor. The problem is obviously his wages but at the moment, solely as a player, I'm not massively concerned with Smith.
  5. Wouldn't mind seeing the below. Think we'll probably get that but with Nolan in for Lua-Lua and Duff on the right. Harper Taylor- Taylor- Kadar- Enrique Lua-Lua Smith Barton Jonas Duff Carroll Krul, Tozer, Ferguson, Nolan, Vuckic, Ranger, Shola,
  6. Michael Ball, Moritz Volz and Noe Paramot would give us some much needed experience at the back assuming Beye, Bassong and Colo go. Henri Camara might be a tempting replacement for Oba.
  7. Harper Taylor Colo Bassong Enrique Taylor Butt Nolan Duff Shola Lovenkrands Was the team that won there 3-2 last there, while managed by Hughton. I think we'll have a decent chance to beat them. Jonas, Carroll, Barton should all be upgrades on the team above, while we'll miss Lovenkrands and Bassong.
  8. He's a lying cunt. Remember how quick they were to deny offering him the job a few weeks back? The guy is completely clueless and will just be wanting to keep his name in the papers. There's no way they've offered him the job.
  9. Colo, Xisco, Bassong and Beye all missing. All expected to go this week? Can anyone comment on how Kadar was at centre half? We'll probably start with him there next week.
  10. Could it be that Spurs are wanting to pay the fee over 5 years or something like that and at this time Ashley wants it all up front?
  11. Isn't the point that Habib put in a half arsed effort against Leeds? Something most fans claimed at the time. I'm glad someone is having a go at anyone who isn't putting there all in. Someone has to do at the moment.
  12. Any word on Geremi, Duff and Guthrie? None of them in the squad. Injuries or bids received?
  13. What a load of shite. So you think Distin and Bassong would be too poncy because they're left footed and therefore by definition poncy? I think you'd be hard pushed to see anyone bully those two. You're initial point was that those two couldn't play together as they were left footed. Anything else you say afterwards just looks like some bollocks explantion for a shit post. The reason you don't get many pairings of two left footers is because not many left footers play centre half. Most get played at left back or left midfield due to lack of left footed players.
  14. 100% correct. Have you never seen Rio and Vidic try to play together?
  15. That's a strong side tbh. Shola injured already or given a rest?
  16. Off to Spurs I would think. 8m would be decent business.

    Martins

He's got a black Merc SLR, not sure of reg though. it was a black SLR i had seen like, so it quite possibly could have been him His reg is N9 0BA IIRC.
  18. Exactly right mate. No one will go until someone comes in so saying they want to leave because of the situation is ridiculous as the situation will have completed changed by the time they can leave.
  19. Walker played right back and Naughton moved over to play left back later in season. Both are natural right backs and very similar in style and quality which is why I guess Sheff Utd aren't putting up much of a fight to keep him.
  20. Agree with Crumpy on this. The club weren't exactly the smartest in the world but the FA ok'd it and then retracted it. They're to blame and they should be paying any necessary compo.
  21. Nope. But along the right lines re controversy.
  22. Ok I'll have a go since I keep getting them. I stated my career in South America before moving to Europe 5 years into my career. I made my international debut amid some controversy in 2006 and made myself a must pick in a successful side. I am widely regarded as a one of the greatest players in my position in the world and currently captain my club side.
