He did explain it to me in that sense (in relation to the past and all that) so my laughing is probably uncalled for. Still couldn't believe what I was listening to though. but if he was trying to make the case that sunderland are bigger than chelsea because of their history then he's talking out of his paternally thumbed backside. He was arguing the point that in terms of tradition, Sunderland are the bigger club, as in the fanbase has "always" been there whilst Chelsea have only really come to prominence recently (in the last decade or so) with a lot of gloryhunters amongst the fanbase.

He's not really in the media limelight as such. I still, to this day, have no idea what he sounds like. It's only because we've done so well this season that he's been receiving a lot of credit/attention from the media (and deservedly so btw).

Just seen this, what fantastic news. The man deserves the long contract and is one of the reasons why we've been so successful this last season or so (with regards to player recruitment and identifying quality players who could be signed on the cheap, of course). The scouting network he's implemented is simply brilliant and one which I have the utmost trust in.

Whilst I can understand the reasons for bringing Kalou in (can chip in with goals, is decent enough in a front 3, can be good backup), it would be quite an underwhelming signing. Has always seemed to be an above average player to me.
