He does have his moments granted and his (surprising) lack of pace does hinder him but I still rate him more highly than Simpson. Still early to judge him properly, this season is a big one for him, he needs to consistently have performances like Villa week in, week out.

We've now resorted to Simpson love I see...don't get me wrong, I would have kept Simpson on as backup (and I thought he was a decent enough defender) but think some people are going a bit over the top about Debuchy. Last season was a bit of a mare for all the players and that is not a decent judge of a new signing. I'm going to give Debuchy my full support like and he's still my first choice RB, his performance against Villa just shows that he is more than a capable defender.

Not getting relegated (and we wont) was always the goal. Finish upper midtable will do me. Same here, oh how our ambition has fallen...

I'd rather have Saylor at RB, I think thats his stronger position. No it's not.

Definitely a hint of complacency today amongst the players, they probably thought that after going 1-0 up so early on and because they were doing relatively well attacking wise up until half time that we could cruise through. Big mistake.

I've become immune to this type of news like. Every single season man except this time, it's only been a month.

From what I've seen so far this season, there's something about Anita that just gives us a certain level of calmness in midfield. The way he just keeps it simple with his passing and his uncomplicated play in DM sits just about right in the current system. There will be continuous questions as to his physical stature but as it stands, he's a starter for me. No doubt.

Was his best performance to date yesterday. Almost beast-like, solid defending (bar one moment) and supported the attack as much as he could without compromising his defensive duties. The one moment I enjoyed was when he muscled his way down the Villa right wing at around the 70/75 minute mark.

It's all coming together now. Please continue what you're doing Paolo.

Please be innocent Loic! Even though he's only played only a couple of times, he has made such a difference to the balance of the team as well as the way we play. The opposition have to double up on a player on Remy because he is skillful and that gives the likes of Ben Arfa more space to work. If he's found innocent and we don't sign him permanently, it would be a massive loss on our part (fuck you JFK and your ramblings).

I'll be honest, I'm slightly worried about him. He hasn't really done anything so far this season, he still looks isolated up top on his own despite the introduction of Remy (and the continuing presence of Ben Arfa) to support him and he's been pretty much bullied by the opposition defenders in each of the games he's started. His confidence is shot but he's still pretty our only proven goalscorer in the team (even if he doesn't look like it atm). For his sake and ours I hope he finds the net soon otherwise we'll be counting on Ben Arfa specials week in, week out (whilst not necessarily a bad thing, we need our striker to do his job and score goals).

Credit where credit is due so well done to Pardew for setting us up correctly yesterday. Still has a lot to do before he can win back people's trust mind.
